Write an essay on “Myth Today,” Roland Barthes tell us that myth (this unit’s version of depth analysis) “is not defined by the object of its message but the way in which it utters its message” (109). We know that myth is a form, a structure that “impoverishes” or “puts at a distance” the original meaning of a sign, substituting something else for it. “We know,” he argues, “that myth is a type of speech defined by its intention” (124). As we move from the image of the little boy saluting the flag, we encounter not the horrors of French coloniality but almost the opposite: the tender caress of the colonist’s flag, the touch of the paternal fatherland. This boy has not been violently colonized, myth might tell us, he has been brought into the fold. This is why myth is “is never arbitrary,” why myth always has an agenda, an intention (126). Barthes, deciphers the little boy’s salute as “an alibi of coloniality,” a gesture that lets the colonizers, as it were, off the hook (129).
If, as we see in the example of the little boy’s salute and in the preordination of French toys, reality is always political, then “myth,” works in the other direction, functioning as “depoliticized speech” (142). Its job is to talk about things, to make them innocent. Myth “abolishes the complexity of human acts,” giving “them the simplicity of essences” (143). And, hence, myth enacts a type of violence, a violence that is hard to see unless one is on the hunt for it.
Your task in this paper is to find an element of culture (it can be an object, a person, a film, a novel, a blog—anything at all) and demonstrate how it enacts myth as Barthes defines it. Your paper should, as well, point out the urgency of your analysis based on the violence that this myth perpetuates (the violence of covering or excusing colonialism, for instance).
Make sure your thesis/central claim is arguable, that you are not simply asserting a factual truth. You are to cite (in MLA style with 12 point, Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins) Barthes three times, as well as at least two other peer-reviewed articles of your choosing plus the primary source itself. The paper should include a Works Cited page, formatted, as well, in MLA style. Not including the Works Cited page, the paper should be 6-8 pages long (typed, double-spaced).

Write about Kurt Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron” or Guy de Maupassant’s “The Necklace.”
Write about Kurt Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron” Next, decide why you think the author wrote the short story to form your thesis statement. Your essay should include an introductory paragraph, body paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph.
2. The introductory paragraph should identify the author, short story, and argument to be discussed. In addition, your thesis statement should be the last sentence of this first paragraph. For example, you could write something like: Kurt Vonnegut wrote “Harrison Bergeron” to show American readers the dangers of an authoritarian government.
3. The body paragraphs of your paper should start with topic sentences that describe why your thesis is true. Be sure to include instances from the story (in the form of quotation or paraphrase) to support your topic sentences. Focus on transitioning from paragraph to paragraph by always reminding the reader of your thesis before moving to the next paragraph.

Are there differences in the manner in which ethics in these three traditions set forth understandings (and/or rules) in these relationships?
Our book suggests that ethics “map relations between a person and God, a person and nature, and a person and other persons.” How is this visible in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam? Are there differences in the manner in which ethics in these three traditions set forth understandings (and/or rules) in these relationships? What about similarities? Finally, do you think the different religions “use” or think about the role of ethics in the same way? If so- how? If not- how?
Please give specific examples from the book (i.e. don’t simply say “I believe x or y” but engage with the course material in your answer). Please use full sentences, proper grammar, and in-text citations.f1

Identify the Stafford Act and the Joint or Non-Stafford Act programs that you might turn to for assistance.
Catastrophic events can include both human caused and natural disasters. Examples of natural disasters include tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, earthquakes and prolonged droughts. Examples of human-caused disasters include infectious disease outbreaks, industrial accidents, acts of terrorism, and incidents of mass violence.
Choose a catastrophic event and imagine what types of aid you and your family might be eligible for.

Write a paper on Environmental Change on management practices in healthcare. A Paper, including Annotated Bibliography.
Write a paper on Environmental Change on management practices in healthcare. A Paper, including Annotated Bibliography.
This assignment seeks to examine the impact of environmental change on management practices. This project is created to encourage good research and writing skills that are needed for assignments, and to identify the environment impacts that influence organizational structure and management.
Your manager overheard you telling a colleague that you are taking a graduate-level organizational theory class. He remembers his college course on organizational theory and realizes that he found the knowledge he learned extremely useful over the years. Lately, he has felt that he has been overwhelmed with changes that require him and his employees to quickly respond to situations that he cannot always solve effectively. Experience has taught him that organizations need to adapt to influences in the environment, including customer wants and needs. To that end he would like you to select some articles for him to read on the following topics: external/economic impacts to organizations, internal/structure impacts to organizations, and/or management skills needed in a changing environment.
Instructions for this assignment:
Step 1: conduct a search for at least 3 scholarly articles that address how organizations can respond to unplanned change (whether internal or external). The articles need to be current – published within the past five years.
· Article selection should consider management skills and practices, external/economic impacts to organizations, internal/structure impacts to organizations, and/or management skills needed in a changing environment.
· Articles should focus on current research in management studies; less than 5 years since publication.
Step 2: Create an annotated bibliography for each article. The articles should be summarized in 2-3 paragraphs as the format suggests.
Step 3: Then aggregately analyze and explain the articles for the way in which they influence the organization. This section should comprise 2 paragraphs using course readings and research to support how external/economic factors impact organizations, internal/structure impacts to organizations, and/or management skills needed in a changing environment.
Step 4: Conclude the paper with a two to three paragraph examination of the selected articles and the impact to managing effectively. Be sure to clearly explain your reasoning for the selection and provide supporting examples and rationale from class readings related to the modern organization.
Follow APA style guidelines to ensure that your final submission includes a Title Page, Introduction, Conclusion, In-Text Citations and a Reference List.
Paraphrase and do not use direct quotation marks.
The analysis should begin with an introductory paragraph that clearly and succinctly explains what you intend to cover in the body of the paper.
The analysis should end with a conclusion/summary paragraph that clearly and succinctly explains what you covered in the body of the paper.
Third-person writing is required.

If you use the data for research purposes, please cite this book chapter. The full dataset is available at the Packt Publishing website with the filename snsdata.csv. ***
Prepare a brief that reports the execution steps and outcomes of the k-NN and k-means lab. In addition, the following questions will be addressed in the brief:
Use the caret package to automatically tune the k parameter for the k-NN algorithm. Were you able to identify a k parameter that increased the accuracy from previous attempts? Show your work and the final result.
Train the k-means model again using k=3 and then k=10. How did this affect the cluster distribution for mean age and proportion of females?
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
Description of dataset in use
Description of purpose of R commands used
Demonstration of R command execution
Guidelines for Submission: Each report submission should be one to two pages in length. The report should briefly describe the dataset in use and the purpose of the R commands used. The report should also include screenshots demonstrating successful completion of R command steps listed for each lab assignment. Reports should follow these formatting guidelines: double-spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and citations, if any, in APA format when appropriate.
