Discuss situations and circumstances that cause people in today’s society to enter a “dark forest,” as Goodman Brown did.
When you start your response (i.e., discussion board thread), the “Subject Line” of your initial post will be a “headline” for “Young Goodman Brown” A “headline” synthesizes the essence of the story and captures the core issue at its heart, aka the theme. For example, a headline for “Young Goodman Brown” might be “Brown Flunks Test and Loses Faith,” “Good No Match for Evil According to Brown,” “Evil Exists So Get Over It, Brown,” or “A Walk on the Wild Side Leaves Brown Bitter.” Be creative and have some fun with it.
Begin this initial post with “Dear Classmates.”
You must use specific dialogue, details and/or textual evidence from the play to support your answer. Be sure to use quotation marks when you cite your information from the texts.

What part does external environmental analysis play in the development.
This module examines the role of
organizational culture, organizational structure, and strategic resources in
implementing strategy. Value-adding support strategies are based on the
elements of the lower portion of the value chain and are the means for
accomplishing the decisions made in strategy formulation. These value chain
components determine the organizational context and are vital in effective
strategy implementation.
Summary: The value-adding support strategies provide a
powerful means to change the organization and create a competitive advantage,
especially because some of the value assign support activities are less visible
to those outside the organization, making a competitive advantage much more difficult
to imitate or duplicate. Decisions concerning the organization’s culture,
structure, and resources are strategic and should be made by strategic
thinkers.

Your Journal is an opportunity to reflect openly and honestly. Only you and your professor will see your journal entries. Prompts will focus on writing practice, reflection, self-evaluation, and improvement.
This week, reflect and write three paragraphs (approximately 150 words each) no later than Monday, at 8:00 a.m. CT to reflect on the following:
Write a paragraph about your reading habits. What do you typically read? Do you consider yourself a reader? Why or why not?
Write a paragraph about your writing habits. What is your experience with writing? What do think about when someone mentions writing? Do you consider yourself a better reader or writer and why?
Look over the 6 traits discussed on pages 12-14 of Fusion, Integrated Reading and Writing, Book 2, (Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions). As you reflect on using these for reading and writing, identify which of these traits come easiest for you? Why? Which of these would you like to strengthen to improve your skill level?

What cues exist that reveal the practices of cultural awareness (present or lacking) in the case?
Project: Cultural Rapport
Remember: This course has major project assignments that will be due in weeks 3 and 5. It will take more than a week’s effort to adequately complete them. Plan time to start the research and other work for those assignments earlier than the week in which they are due.
This week, read The First Meeting at NTC and The Second Meeting sections of the case study provided in W1 Project. Also, review discussion questions 6 and 8 at the end of the case study document. Do not skip ahead to future sections of the case study or other discussion questions in the document for this week’s work. Many important issues for the case study lie below the surface and require both background research and critical evaluation to uncover.
Based on this week’s assigned sections (and all previous assigned sections of the case study), address the following topics:
Continuing Issues
Building upon the key themes and cues discovered in the week 1 portion of the final project, what cues exist in this week’s assigned portions that provide further insights on the business practice, task/relationship, communication, and structure issues?
Cultural Awareness
What cues exist that reveal the practices of cultural awareness (present or lacking) in the case? In particular:
How can a negotiator recognize needs and concerns of both parties?
How can a negotiator identify options and alternatives?
What can a negotiator do to understand strengths and weaknesses of both parties?
Conflict Management
What conflict management approaches are being used by the parties in the case study?
What better conflict management approaches could be used to create an enhanced negotiation environment and outcome?
Cultural Rapport
Based upon the cues within the context of the case study and the research you have completed, provide at least 3 best practices that international negotiators might use to develop cultural rapport. Defend your recommendations with research.
Important hint: You might find it helpful to begin each section of the paper by discussing the key themes and cues you observe. Then, do research on those key themes to both broaden and deepen your evaluation of the case and your understanding of the important issues. In the final product, about half your written evaluation of each topic should be research. About half should be application to the case study.
Recommendation for the level one headings for the body of your paper:
Continuing Issues
Cultural Awareness
Conflict Management

What validity is and how your argument follows the structure of either modus ponens or modus tollens.
Create a video speech draft between 1 – and 3 minutes long in which you use logic to conclude something based on your own experience. Focus on what you learned about deductive arguments to construct a valid, sound modus ponens or modus tollens argument. First, briefly tell me what validity is and how your argument follows the structure of either modus ponens or modus tollens. Next, defend the truth of your two premises. Focus on defending your first premise (the conditional relationship between the antecedent and the consequent). Creative editing gets extra marks, especially if it helps to confirm the truth of your premises!
Here is the PPT link for deductive arguments. You may paraphrase it in your video but please do not quote it directly:

Write a thoughtful analysis about a film given in class.
Write a thoughtful analysis about a film given in class. The focus of the paper will be the environment of how the film was created; thorough analysis and research of how it was made, where it was set and the time of which it was portrayed. Be mindful of the history that you read in class and how that affected each film, and contrast that to the film you’re going to review.
The paper should also have a brief summary of what happened in the film and the student’s understanding of what the film is about.
Explain how some of the poems for this week make use of image, symbols, and the senses.
POEM.
Once again, make sure the poem looks and sounds like a poem (and please forgo rhyme for now—or use internal rhymes). Make sure there is a feeling that precedes the poem. Allow for use of the senses, and please include an image. Be aware of the first and last line, along with the line breaks. Read your poem aloud, have it read to you.
PROMPT: I will usually offer you more than one prompt–but you need ONLY CHOOSE ONE. Here are you prompts: Poem that tells a story, narrative, as the poems in this week’s readings do. Feel free to use the first person, but remember that there is compression in the telling, compression in the description. The other prompt is to write a poem that is like a letter, that is addressed to someone–but in this case, please make it a someone who, for one reason or another, cannot receive the poem, a poem that addresses someone. Explain how some of the poems for this week make use of image, symbols, and the senses.
