This module examines the role of
organizational culture, organizational structure, and strategic resources in
implementing strategy. Value-adding support strategies are based on the
elements of the lower portion of the value chain and are the means for
accomplishing the decisions made in strategy formulation. These value chain
components determine the organizational context and are vital in effective
strategy implementation.
Summary: The value-adding support strategies provide a
powerful means to change the organization and create a competitive advantage,
especially because some of the value assign support activities are less visible
to those outside the organization, making a competitive advantage much more difficult

Project: Cultural Rapport
Remember: This course has major project assignments that will be due in weeks 3 and 5. It will take more than a week’s effort to adequately complete them. Plan time to start the research and other work for those assignments earlier than the week in which they are due.
This week, read The First Meeting at NTC and The Second Meeting sections of the case study provided in W1 Project. Also, review discussion questions 6 and 8 at the end of the case study document. Do not skip ahead to future sections of the case study or other discussion questions in the document for this week’s work. Many important issues for the case study lie below the surface and require both background research and critical evaluation to uncover.

Create a video speech draft between 1 – and 3 minutes long in which you use logic to conclude something based on your own experience. Focus on what you learned about deductive arguments to construct a valid, sound modus ponens or modus tollens argument. First, briefly tell me what validity is and how your argument follows the structure of either modus ponens or modus tollens. Next, defend the truth of your two premises. Focus on defending your first premise (the conditional relationship between the antecedent and the consequent). Creative editing gets extra marks, especially if it helps to confirm the truth of your premises!

Write a thoughtful analysis about a film given in class. The focus of the paper will be the environment of how the film was created; thorough analysis and research of how it was made, where it was set and the time of which it was portrayed. Be mindful of the history that you read in class and how that affected each film, and contrast that to the film you’re going to review.

The paper should also have a brief summary of what happened in the film and the student’s understanding of what the film is about.
