Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to revise the body of your academic argumentative research paper, which you created a draft of in Unit VI.
Description: In this assignment, you will revise the three to four body paragraphs you wrote in Unit VI. The following requirements must be included in the assignment:
Body Paragraphs: You will revise the body section of your paper based on feedback received from your professor in Unit VI. Please review here the guidelines for the body section of your research paper: This section will include three to four paragraphs comprised of five to seven sentences each. Each paragraph should be between 150-200 words. At a minimum, this portion of the paper should be 450-600 words (for three to four paragraphs); a body section of this length will meet the minimum requirements of the assignment. Revisions must be substantive and should be made in accordance with the direction given by the professor’s feedback. The following components must be included in each body paragraph (in the following order).
Sentence 1: Point/reason sentence: This topic sentence will contain one of your reasons.
Sentence 2: Explanation: In this sentence, you will provide information that further develops or explains Sentence 1.
Sentence 3: Illustration: This sentence introduces evidence that supports the reason that is presented in Sentence 1.
Sentence 4: Explanation of the illustration: Because the evidence does not necessarily stand on its own, you need to provide explanation so that the reader will understand how you interpreted the evidence to come to your reason.
Sentences 5-6: Second illustration and explanation (optional): You may choose to include a second piece of evidence that is then followed by an explanation.
Last Sentence: Transition: In this sentence, you will signal to the reader that you will be moving on to another point in the next paragraph. You do this to ease the movement from one point to another.
Be sure to include the introduction and literature review you have already created and revised.

 Introductions provide general background for the topic.
 Your essay must have a clear, argumentative thesis statement.
 Thesis is the last sentence of the introduction.
 This is a statement should answer the topic question being asked.
Body Paragraphs  The body of the essay needs to develop three different reasons for
the thesis.
 Topic sentences should clearly explain each reason individually.
 Develop the idea and explain it fully / do not repeat information
between paragraphs.
 Body paragraphs are where you should use source material to quote
and explain in the paragraph. Do not use quotes as the first or last
sentence of a paragraph.
Summary  First sentence should restate thesis (vary wording).
 The closing portion of your essay needs to do more than merely

Provide two arguments for, and two arguments against (each 80 words max), the debate proposition:
“Eudaemonia” as articulated in ancient Greek philosophy, is essentially the same concept of “wellbeing” that underpins aims of positive psychology and modern psychotherapies.
With these debates, the readings (and listening!) listed are just a starting point/a guide to some different views on the topic. American history is full of interesting people. Some people are known for being presidents, inventors, revolutionaries, advocates, etc. Others are simply important for their documentation of life during a specific period. The purpose of this project is two-fold. First, this project will allow you to research a person that you are interested in and discuss what they have contributed to the United States. Second, this project will help you get used to researching a topic. It will allow you to be able to use a wide variety of sources and help you to distinguish between primary and secondary sources. I hope that through this assignment, you will be able to appreciate the person you are researching and the part they play in American history.
There are several things I want you to include in your paper:
Part 1: Basic Skills and Research (bibliography page) 50 pts
-For your paper, you will need to use proper English mechanics (grammar, punctuation, correct capitalization of names, etc.) as this will count as part of your grade. I would suggest having someone proofread your paper.
You will also need to include a bibliography page. The bibliography or works cited should be on a separate piece of paper and should not be included in the written portion of your assignment. -For your project, you are creating your own biography of a person of your choosing. Your person must be American and from the specific time period. You will be reporting on the person’s life. In this section, I would like you to include name, birthday, family, hometown, education (if any), significant events in their early life, and any other biographical information you can think of. You also need to include the various parts of the person’s career/impact on the world including who influenced them, how they got started in their particular area, did they overcome anything, special accomplishments, their impact on the world, etc. Within your paper, I would like you to use at least 3 (short) direct quotes from your primary sources. Do not forget, make sure to use quotation marks and cite the source after the quote.
