Interpretation of evolutionary data

A. Interpretation of evolutionary data (40 points).
I am involved in a project investigating a hybrid zone in ants. We plan to publish this study, and since you all have been studying evolution, we want your help to interpret our data. My collaborators and I have collected the following data on these two ant species, Formica selysi and Formica cinerea, and their hybrids: We have measured when the new reproductive individuals are produced by each species in a shared environment (Figure 1), we have carried out mate choice experiments to see whether queens show a preference for males of their own species or the other species (Figure 2), and we have looked at how many offspring are produced by newly mated queens in the following three categories: hybrid queens mated to non-hybrid males, non-hybrid queens mated to males of the other species or non-hybrid females mated to males of their own species (Figure 3). I include relevant statistical results in the figure legends. Attached figure 1, 2 and 3.
A1. We want to know whether there are barriers to gene flow between these species. To answer this question, please explain for each figure whether the results inform us about a prezygotic isolating mechanism or a post-zygotic mechanism. Then, define which mechanism or mechanisms are being tested by the data in each figure. Finally, briefly interpret each figure and provide 1-2 paragraphs explaining if any barriers are present, what these barriers are (if yes), and whether these barriers completely or just partially prevent gene flow between these species.
Follow up questions on ant hybrid zone:
A2 (15 points). Identify one reproductive isolating mechanism that the authors have not tested that could plausibly be present in this system. Write a hypothesis about how that mechanism might work, and briefly propose an experimental or observational study to test this mechanism. A2 (b) Is speciation complete between these two species? (in the experiment) To answer this question completely, identify the specific concept that you are using and explain your rationale.

Celiac Disease – Research Paper

Must be typed, 12 font, double spaced, and a title page is required.
3 pages (double spaced)
Must use 2 references. Please use APA (American Psychological Association) format for your in-text citations and for citing your reference/ sources (you do not need to create an abstract for this assignment)
Must use reputable references, this is a “research” paper you need to use sources that provide actual research data and correct facts and information (list of reputable sources below) (healthline, men’s health, women’s health are not reputable sources/references).
Many of these examples are Peer Reviewed Journals, professional organizations, research organizations and public awareness organizations and associations. Peer Reviewed Journals are scholarly journals that contain articles and studies written by experts and are also reviewed by several other experts in the field of study.

Read the case of Dynegy v. Yates ( JPG Uploaded ) in Chapter 16. In your thread, post your case summary, using the briefing method outlined in Chapter 1’s appendix.
This is an example of last assignment
Example

Olis, who was a former Dynegy employee, was indicted for fraud. Olis had multiple counts of securities fraud, mail and wire fraud, and conspiracy arising out of his work he performed while at Dynegy. Dynegy had agreed in 2002 to pay for the fees/expenses for some people for those who were involved in ” Project Alpha” if they met certain requirements. Olis hired Yates, who is an attorney, who orally verified that Dynegy would be paying for his services for Olis. Dynegy refused to pay Yates third invoice and he then sued them for breach of contract and fraudulent inducement.

HISTORY: A Texas jury returned a verdict in favor of Yates. The appellate court affirmed the lower courts judgment, the statue of frauds did not apply because Dynegy’s promise totaled to a primary obligation. Dynegy Inc appealed to the United States supreme court.

ISSUE: Was the obligation primary or collateral?

HOLDING: The obligation was primary. The judge examined the case and the facts surrounding the case. It was then decided that Dynegy’s promise of payment was a primary obligation and therefore the agreement was enforceable.

REASONING: Clark and Yates testified that Cracraft orally promised that Dynegy would be paying Olis fees through trial and it is undisputed that this agreement was never reduced to writing.

RESULT: The claim for breach of contract was affirmed in favor of Yates.

LGBTQ health during childhood and adolescence

LGBTQ health during childhood and adolescence is the population. While not constrained, you may select one specific health theme relevant to this population. You will write 2-3 page reflective paper in which you will analyze, discuss, and comment upon selected topic.
Instructions: Here is what your paper should address.
(1) What have you learned about the current state of the public health knowledge on the topic (i.e., how your newfound knowledge has affected your understanding of the topic). Identify health challenges relevant to individuals of your chosen group in the US and worldwide. Identify historical and/or contemporary dynamics contributing to these health challenges.

(2) Your view of issues that are particularly salient to understanding or addressing the topic in the specified population (i.e., you can support it with your observations and/or personal examples). Identify and explain health inequalities and discrimination faced by the population of interest. Explain interaction of socio-economic determinates with individual behavioral factors on the health outcomes of chosen population.
(3) What should be considerations for future public health practice or clinical care to address this issue; and

(4) What are your recommendations for future research or practice to better understand and/or address or solve the problem/topic in chosen LGBTQ population (i.e. try to recognize and break down your assumptions of the issue).
