We will continue our experiential approach to the study of Organizational Behavior by engaging in a personal applied case on the topic of group dynamics and teams. As in Module 1, use the following outline to structure your 4- to 6-page paper. You may use the subtitles as headings for your paper.
Introduction: Discuss the topic of the paper and how you will approach it. It is best to write this section after you have written the rest of the paper.
Concrete Experience: Begin with a specific situation/event. Describe an experience with a group or team that was meaningful to you. It may have been an extraordinarily good experience – or it may have been an experience that did not work out very well at all! The important point is that it should be an experience which you would like to understand better. Be objective and focus on just the facts: who, what, where, when, and how – as if you were composing a newspaper article.
Reflective Observation:Reflect upon that experience from multiple perspectives of persons involved or affected in the experience. Step back from the situation, look at the experience from your own viewpoint, and from the perspective of all other parties involved or affected. You want to look at the circumstances surrounding the experience from every relevant point of view. Why did you behave the way that you did? Why did others behave the way that they did? Did others have the same positive (or negative) experience? Explain. (Note: your discussion of theories and models from your module materials belongs in the following section.)
Abstract Conceptualization: (This Abstract Conceptualization section is the “heart” of your paper.) Use critical thinking skills to understand and interpret the experience at a deeper, more generalizable level. Interpret and understand the events you have described by drawing on the concepts, theories, and models in the background material from this module. Explain how they apply to your experience. For example, what behavior patterns can you identify in yourself and others that are similar to the ones described in the material on communication, teams, and conflict management? Does the model of Force Field Analysis (home page) help you better understand why people behaved the way they did? Be sure to apply at leastthree concepts, theories, and/or models and cite all references to concepts, ideas, and/or quotes that you use from any outside source.
Active Experimentation:Identify ways to respond to the next occurrence of a similar experience. What have you learned about the way groups work from this analysis? What have you learned from your mistakes? How are you going to put what you have learned to use? What actions will you take to build more effective work teams in your job?
Conclusion: Sum up the main points of your analysis and the key learning you are taking from it.
Reference List: List all references that you have cited in the paper using APA formatting.

Argument- Birth control should be accessible over the counter not only in clinics and hospitals
Counterargument- This creates an issue for underage teens gaining access.
Counter Argument- Some women may not be properly educated on the side effects, because every woman’s body is different there would be an increase of health risks

What do you think the author’s intentions are with the piece, in terms of drama and theme? In what ways does the author succeed in fulfilling this project?
What areas need to be further developed or reconsidered in order to accomplish the author’s goals? And what is your opinion of these goals? Should they be pursued or re-considered? In other words, should the story on the page be the story on the page?
How are the elements of craft and technique operating? For example, is the point of view used effectively? Does the plot provide the drama necessary to sustain the story? What are other options the author might consider?

How is language operating in the story? What are the identifiable trends, patterns, and qualities of the writer’s sentences, and how do they lend themselves toward the story’s narrative voice?
What are the thematic possibilities of the story? Should elements of craft (point of view, plot, dialogue, etc.) be reconsidered with respect to the possible themes of the work?
These are questions to help you structure your critiques of your classmates’ work. Some of them you may address, others you may not. Regardless of how you approach your critique, keep in mind that the objective is to help the author accomplish and/or reflect upon the goals of the story, by identifying what is successful, underdeveloped, questionable, etc, about the work-in-progress.
And of course, be respectful and courteous in your critiques. You’re not approaching these letters as reviewers, but as fellow writers working to fulfill a common goal—the creation of compelling fiction. If you have any questions, please let me know. Good luck.

Scenario:
You are working as a medical administrative assistant at a small clinic in a rural town where you grew up. You know almost all of the patients personally, as friends, family members, former coworkers, and former classmates. Because the clinic is so small, you are the main employee responsible for managing all medical documents in the facility. Consider these scenarios:
Mr. Jones, a close neighbor of yours, calls the clinic and asks you to print out a copy of his wife’s medical chart. He explains that he needs to bring a paper copy of her records to an appointment with her neurology specialist later that day. A few minutes later, Jess approaches you at the reception desk and quietly asks if she can see the physician without her father in the room.
Mya Tanek and Ben Schuyler share custody of their two teenage children. You have known both Mya and Ben since attending high school together many years ago. Ben stops into the clinic to ask you about his son, Jayvin’s care. He wants to know when Jayvin’s next appointment is, why he was recently referred to a behavioral therapist, and if his medications have changed recently. Ben explains that Mya has been withholding information about their kids since their divorce a few years ago.

The purpose of the research paper is for you to become an expert on a particular topic in computer security. The research paper should be written so that it conveys information to the reader. When grading the paper we will ask ourselves whether other students in the class might learn about the topic you choose by reading your paper. The paper should contain original analysis of the the papers you choose to cover, and ideally suggest directions for future research on the topic.
Select a topic related to the topics in the course syllabus, or ask Dr. Neuman if you would like to write on another topic that you feel is related to computer security. Some examples of paper topics include comparisons of approaches taken by different systems to solve security problems, surveys of the literature on a computer security topic, and discussions of particular problem areas in computer security.
Prepare a reading list of the papers that you plan to look at. Your must incdlude full citations for the papers. Don’t provide just a list of URL’s, or paper titles without providing informationon the authors, the title, and where the papers appear (conference, journal, etc). The purpose of this list is to make sure you have some place to start. Most of the papers in your reading list should be beyond those that are included in the course materials. You may use the library as a resource when looking for material on your topic. You should not constrain your search to only information easily found on the web. In fact, most of the papers in your reading list should be from journals and conferences (though you are likely to find copies of many of these online). Do not use marketing literature (sometimes called white papers) or high level issues articles from trade publications as primary sources. You will be free to use additional papers if you come across them during your research.
Be sure to follow reference from relevant papers to other sources, and look up the original papers covering a topic, don’t rely on summaries provided by someone else. You may also want to use the site citeseer (citeseer.ist.psu.edu) or Google Scholar to find citations TO some of the papers you start from. This will likely turn up more recent papers on the same topic.
Prepare a couple of paragraphs describing the topic, the particular issues you plan to cover, and the questions you plan to answer. Turn in this description and your reading list with full citations for the papers you plan to use. This description and reading list should be uploaded through the D2L Dropbox for the Research Paper Proposal Assignment. The instructors will respond with feedback in D2L in the order that proposals are received.
