French Revolution & Napoleonic Empires
The French Revolution, in some ways, attempted to replicate the actions and results of the American Revolution. However many factors created a far worse and bloodier result and cultural experience. What factors divided the French Revolutionaries and caused the revolution to turn radical? Was Napoleon’s government truly enlightened?

The Origins Of World War One – Classmate Response (1)
After your initial post, you are required to respond to two of your classmates’ postings. Your responses should include what you agree with or disagree with and why. Your responses may also include an elaboration upon what a classmate wrote.
Your response posts (each around 250 words).
“The causes of World War One were almost like a domino effect that tumbled into leading the deadliest war in the century. The Austrian’s disaster for the Balkans/Serbia ultimately allowed for tensions to flare and eventually explode with the death of Franz Ferdinand. The Balkans were originally an unstable power in Europe, with powers like Russia, Austro-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire fighting to take and control the rogue states. Serbia’s independence ignited a push for the Austria-Hungarians to take control of the country and allow for the expansion of the Balkans. Serbia welcomed unrest within the government to allow for the formation of a Slavic Superstate. This meant that generals and higher-ranking officials were keen on allowing agents of terrorism (The Black Hand) to attack and set chaos into Austria-Hungary. This allowed the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Bosnia by Serbian Nationals led by Gavrilo Princip. The group itself being Serbian allowed Austria-Hungary to send an ultimatum (with the backing of Germany) to Serbia.
The alliance structure that allowed for stability ultimately failed to keep peace within Europe. This is because of the many alliances set up within different countries to allow for “backing” were all to different countries and not to each other. To explain, countries like Serbia set up an alliance with Russia, who then had an alliance with France, who then had an alliance with Britain. These multiple alliances essentially picked sides for the war and allowed for countries once at peace to fight each other because of agreements set up to protect their countries’ interests: not others. Had the countries made alliances with other “enemy” countries then the war would’ve never reached the stage where it became the first World War.
I personally felt as if this conflict was the end and the beginning of a stage in International Relations. The end of “traditional” international politics followed specific isolationist policies that relied on economics. However, it was the beginning of a new idea in which countries would now have a side: The Axis and Allied Powers. It also sparked more contemporary ideas in international relations with the creation of the United Nations (formerly known as the League Of Nations) that began to oversee conflicts in Europe and the rest of the world.”
Purchasing and Cost Control
For a hospitality business to be successful, the management team must have a strong purchasing process that includes both selection and procurement. This process must be well established in order to control costs and deliver the best possible product or service for its target customers.
For this assignment, you will choose one major restaurant chain that uses the central commissary from the following list and develop a new purchasing process for a single restaurant unit. You will use this restaurant chain as a framework (that is, the menu, average restaurant size, and management and employee organizational structure) for developing a new purchasing process.
Note: You must create your own purchasing process for a single restaurant unit based on the concepts you have learned in the course. Do not just report on the restaurant chain’s current purchasing process.
Select one of the following U.S. restaurant chains:
McDonald’s.
Starbucks.
Subway.
Wendy’s.
Burger King.
Taco Bell.
Dunkin’ Donuts.
Pizza Hut.
Chick-fil-A.
Sonic.
Write a 4–6 page paper in which you:
Choose one major restaurant chain and provide a brief overview including:
The history of the chain.
The type of cuisine and theme.
The number of restaurants.
The average restaurant size (seating capacity) and layout (both front and back of the house layouts).
The standardized menu (both food and beverage).
Describe the restaurant chain’s central commissary including the products it supplies and it doesn’t supply. Analyze how the central commissary benefits a single restaurant unit.
Select at least three purchasing technologies from the following list:
Inventory tracking.
Storage management.
Product ordering.
Product identification.
Bar-code reader.
Explain how the chosen technologies will be used to optimize the purchasing process for this restaurant chain.
Explain how the new purchasing process for this restaurant unit follows and abides by the five major purchasing objectives. Provide a rationale for each objective.
Use the Strayer Library to find at least three academic resources. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites are not considered quality references.

“The cause of the Great War most commonly known as World War I has multiple reasons that factor into the triggering of World War 1. To start, I would say the main reason World War 1 began was due to the Black Hand. The Black Hand was a secret military-like society formed in 1901 and created by Serbian officers in the Army of the Kingdom of Serbia. This society was filled with many radicals as well as army officers, mercenaries, and government officials. This secret military-like society the Black Hand had radical ideas for change and this terrorist group would go as far as to commit violence and carry out assassinations to achieve their goal. Their goal was to create a Greater Serbia. The Black Hand Terrorist group trained their member’s tactics to carry out political murders/assassinations. One of the political figures they assassinated that sparked tension to start a World War was the Archduke of Australia-Hungary Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand was set to appear in Sarajevo in June 1914; however, the Black Hand plotted to assassinate the Archduke because of his perceived threat to Serbian independence. Their plan had succeeded. That spark led to Australia-Hungary to declare war on Serbia. After this declaration of war, alliances would have already been formed. Some would say the Alliance system started the World War because without it the war would have been smaller and countries would not have had to aid their allies. The alliances were the Entente Powers against the Central Powers. The Entente Powers had the countries France, Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States. The Central Powers had Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria. By the end of World War I, the stability of Europe had been broken. The centuries-old monarchies and empires of Europe would come to an end due to the alliance structure during World War I and also the European borders would become reorganized. This led to the rise of a new superpower the United States. I would say the first world war was the beginning and end of a historical era in International Relations. It is the end because those alliances are over but it was the beginning because new alliances have been formed.”
Schedule, Cost Estimate, and Integrated Change Control
Schedule, Cost Estimate, and Integrated Change Control
Introduction
This portfolio work project includes a project schedule, project budget, and an integrated change control plan, based on your selected business or IT project. You may base your assignment on the Cosmo, Inc. case study, a developer and distributor of wearable technology, or a project of your choice.
Project integration management is defined as “the processes and activities to identify, define, combine, unify, and coordinate the various processes and project management activities within the Project Management Process Groups” (Project Management Institute, 2017, p. 569).
Throughout a project life cycle, processes and activities involved in project integration management include identifying, defining, combining, and unifying processes and activities that are implemented throughout the entirety of the project. Project schedule, costs, and change control are components of an integrated approach to successful project outcome. Change management is considered integrated, because it considers the impact of any change in cost, schedule, scope, quality, risk, resources, or customer satisfaction on all the other factors.
Scenario
Option A: Based on the analysis completed by a task force at Cosmo, Inc., the marketing department is to develop, implement, and test a new marketing campaign focused on maintaining current customer levels and increasing their customer base through the utilization of new technology. Refer to the Cosmo, Inc. business case document in Course Resources for more information.
Part 1: Project Schedule Activity Sequencing
Create a diagram using software of your choice that shows the logical relationships among the schedule activities that your project involves. Note that finish-to-start is the most commonly used precedence relationship in activity sequencing.
In your activity-sequencing diagram, show logical relationships and consider the following types:
Finish-to-start – The predecessor activity needs to finish before the successor can start.
Finish-to-finish – The predecessor activity needs to finish before the successor can finish.
Start-to-start – The predecessor activity needs to start before the successor can start.
Start-to-finish – The predecessor activity needs to start before the successor can finish.
Part 2: Project Cost Estimate
Prepare a cost estimate or budget for your selected project:
Identify the costs of each task and create categories (Labor, Materials, Contractor, Equipment, Misc., et cetera) to prioritize project expenditures.
Identify and quantify:
Constraints: Activities or elements that affect the execution of a project and impact time, costs, or performance.
Dependencies: Activities or elements that have either a negative or positive dependency on costs, time, or performance.
Assumptions: Factors considered to be certain, without proof, that impact project time, costs, or performance.
Provide graphical representation or representations of budget.
Part 3: Integrated Change Control Plan
Design your team’s integrated-change-control-plan document for the project. Include the following items (at minimum):
Instructions for setting up a change-control board and scheduling recurring meetings.
Procedures for reviewing and approving requested changes.
Procedures for managing approved changes.
Areas that need to be updated after approved changes are implemented.

Apa research psychology
Now that you’ve learned how to find research articles in the first Lab, let’s practice reading research articles. It is very different from reading a novel or magazine article! Whereas with those writings, you generally begin at the first word and read every word to the end of the piece, you don’t typically do that with an empirical article. Read this to learn more about the reading process: How to Read Empirical Articles.
It is very important that you know what information belongs in each section of an empirical article for two reasons:
You will more quickly and efficiently read articles because you know where to find the information you’re most interested in.
You will write your own “mini-reports” for this class, following the same format: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, References. If you know what information belongs in each section, then it’ll be easier to write up these reports.
Here is a short guide to the Parts of a Research Article to refer to for this assignment, and a PowerPoint, Parts of a Research Article.pdf.
Now, wouldn’t it be great if all empirical articles were perfectly written with these guidelines? Of course it can’t be that easy! You will see some variation among research articles that will make reading them a little more tricky. For example:
Some articles will clearly state the hypotheses: “We hypothesized that the treatment group would have higher scores than the placebo group.” However, other authors might not use the word “hypothesize,” so you have to do a little detective work. Look for phrases like, “we expected,” “our goal was to,” or “we examined.” Authors might not suggest a specific outcome, and so instead of stating a hypothesis they are stating their goals of the study.
Headings might be different. Instead of “Discussion,” some authors will label that section a “Conclusion.” There may be different subheadings – perhaps they have multiple sub-sections within the introduction section, or they have unique sub-sections within their method section to describe their unique methodologies.
The more practice you get reading these articles, the more efficient you will become in reading them – and we all want to use our time efficiently!
For your lab, you will view the article Mindset Interventions – Paunesku 2015 and then complete the worksheet Lab #2 – How to Read a Journal Article.
When you are finished, you may upload your document or photo of the worksheet to this page by clicking the button at the top right of the page.
Sustainability on artificial islands
The final paper should be 1000-1500 words (about 5 pages double spaced, 12-pt font), follow APA formatting and citation guidelines, and should include a variety of reputable sources. The paper should demonstrate that you have thoroughly researched and critically examined a sector/category of the tourism industry and are able to make suggestions to enhance the sustainability of that sector. This paper should be written in an academic/scholarly style. Please avoid using first person (i.e. no “I”/”me”) and casual, conversational language. This paper should be more oriented around research and literature review than your own field-based observations, although you may incorporate both.
Each paper is expected to incorporate at least three peer-reviewed academic journal articles (from your annotated bibliography). You are also encouraged to include additional types of references, such as:
Interview(s) with relevant staff, officials, managers, etc.
Official industry reports (such as from trade organizations, government agencies, research firms, etc.)
First-person observations (but remember, don’t use “I” when writing the paper)
Non-fiction books on your topic
Relevant articles in magazines, newspapers, or trade journals
