How to Cite Electronic (internet) Sources Using MLA
https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_works_cited_electronic_sources.html (Enlaces a un sitio externo.)
Follow these steps:
Find an Opinion article about a compelling topic that you would like to research.
Do informal research by Googling the topic and see what information you can find about it.
Evaluate the main topic of your opinion article (and the claims made about it) with a thesis.
Include images and video in your composition.
Use these steps as a checklist and begin drafting your Medium page.
Your essay should be organized as follows:
Introduction: Post the images and story you will be evaluating. Summarize the rhetorical context. When and where did the article appear? What is the main point of the article? End the introduction with a thesis statement.
Body: Now, summarize the content of the opinion article. Include any history that you might find related to the main topic the article covers. In this section of the paper, discuss your argument about the article and the points mentioned in your thesis. Incorporate source material (expert opinion and research) to support or further explore claims in the article.
Conclusion: Write a conclusion that restates your argument and leaves the audience with a call to action or with additional questions worth exploring about your topic.

Community Nursing Presentation
Directions: Students may present alone or select a partner or work with a group (3 max.) and research a role of a nurse serving the community. Some examples include school nurses, forensic nurses, occupational health nurses, public health nurses, hospice nurses, and prison nurses. To sign up for a topic, select the People tab- RN role in the menu to the left side.
Develop a 10-15 slide presentation using PowerPoint(or similar software) which must be viewed in your videotaped or YouTube presentation. (Remember the audience should be able to view the presenter and the power point presentation as they would in a classroom setting). Presentation should be approximately 10 minutes in length and if presenting with another student or group, each person should divide the time equally. In order to prevent duplication of topic students must contact instructor with the community nurse role selected, or sign up in the group section for available group slots. Be sure to include reference citations on slides when needed, and a reference page structured in current APA format. Answer the following questions in your presentation:
What are the primary activities performed by the nurse, and what is the scope of practice?
What are the necessary skills and abilities required for this role?
What educational preparation is required to function in the role?
What other disciplines or professionals does the nurse interact with in the role?
What teaching/learning strategies can be applied to addressing specific issues related to the core population?
What was unique or interesting that you learned about this nursing role in your research?
Listed below is helpful information regarding the Community Nursing Presentation.
1. Each student in the group should present for the same amount of time.
2. Avoid reading the monitor, screen or notes. Use notes only as a guide. Reading word-for-word is unacceptable and points will be deducted.
3. Dress appropriately (business casual or lab coat).
4. The presentation needs to be videotaped (showing you presenting and PowerPoint easily visible). It can be submitted directly or as a link. Also upload your PowerPoint. Video will also need to be posted for comments in the last “Discussion Question.” If doing this is in a small group, only one student needs to submit the video link and slides, but make sure all group members are listed on the first slide.
For your videotape presentation you should use Studio within Canvas, in the navigation bar on the left hand side. When you open Studio you can record within that area, save, then upload it to the assignment. Remember the Canvas Help team is very helpful and can guide you (by using the question mark at the bottom of navigation bar). This should be a good and easy option. However, if you are in a group, all members need to be together at the same time, as there are no editing sections to add other presenters.
You can record power point slides (with webcam and audio). This is not available on Apple computers. You can also do a video recording (as long as slides are able to be read in the recording and presenter is visible). Screencast-o-matic.com is another helpful tool for recording and can be used by presenters in different locations (but the paid version may be needed for that.) Either method of recording should be submitted into Studio or YouTube and submit the link. There are other recording options.

Business speakers do not always have the luxury of complete confidence in the material they have to present. For instance, sales forecasts for new products are notoriously difficult to make because they depend on multiple factors in the marketplace. If you were presenting a forecast that was the best available answer but not one that you confidently believed, should you still follow the guidelines presented in your readings for appearing confident in front of your audience? Explain your answer in two to three paragraphs and include a minimum of one scholarly and/or credible source in addition to the textbook below and 2 attached PDFs (4 total).
My textbook is: Busuness Communication Today 14th Edition (Authors: Courtland L. Bovee and John V. Hill). If there is any chance you can use that book as a reference it would be helpful. Thank you!
Reread the two poems by E.E. Cummings. Do you believe Cummings chose words primarily for their sound? for their appearance on the page? What other factors might have influenced his choices?
Answer ONE of the questions for ONE of the poems (from the textbook) in the discussion board below. Your response should be at least 200 words and incorporate some direct quotations from the poem as evidence to support your interpretation. Be sure to use MLA for in-text citations when you summarize, paraphrase, or quote any material that comes from the poem. To prepare for our formal essays, use third-person — no I, me, we, us, you, and so on.
In addition, respond to two peers’ posts in at least 100 words each, contributing to the ongoing conversation. Your response needs to address them by name and add a new idea or ask a question. Simply rephrasing your peers’ posts in a response to it is not going to keep conversation going. Phrases to NOT use: “I agree!” or “I really like this.”
Discussion Questions
Answer ONE of the questions for ONE of the poems. Post your answer to the discussion board.
Read the following poems:
E.E. Cummings’ “in Just-” (p. 540)
E.E. Cummings’ “anyone lived in a pretty how town” (p. 555)
Gwendolyn Brooks “We Real Cool” (p. 551)
Sylvia Plath’s “Morning Song” (p. 517)
Robert Frost’s “Out, Out–” (p. 596)
William Wordsworth’s “I wandered lonely as a cloud” (p. 712)
Robert Browning’s “Meeting at Night” (p. 719)
Walt Whitman’s “Had I the Choice” (p. 609)
Select ONE discussion question from below:
Reread the two poems by E.E. Cummings. Do you believe Cummings chose words primarily for their sound? for their appearance on the page? What other factors might have influenced his choices?
In “We Real Cool” by Gwendolyn Brooks, what elements of nonstandard English grammar appear in this poem? How does the use of such language affect your attitude toward the speaker? Further, why does the poet begin with “We” on in the first line instead of isolating each complete sentence on its own line? How does this strategy change the poem’s impact?
Sylvia Plath’s life, which ended in suicide, was marked by emotional turbulence and instability. As Anne Stevenson observes in Bitter Fame, her 1988 biography of Plath, in the weeks immediately preceding the composition of “Morning Song” a fit of rage over her husband’s supposed infidelity caused Plath to destroy many of his books and poetic works in progress. Then only a few days later, she suffered a miscarriage. According to Stevenson, “Morning Song” is about sleepless nights and surely reflects Plath’s depression. However, in a 1991 biography, Rough Magic, Paul Alexander says, “Beautiful, simple, touching, ‘Morning Song’ was Plath’s — then– definitive statement of motherhood.” Which biographer’s assessment of the poem makes more sense? Why?
In William Wordsworth’s “I wandered lonely as a cloud,” is the natural world the poem’s true subject, or is it just the setting. Explain.
What general ideas about love are expressed in Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s “How Do I Love Thee?”
The title of Robert Frost’s “Out, Out–” is an allusion to Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Act 5, Scene 5, lines 23-28:
Out, out, brief candle! Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
How does being familiar with this allusion contribute to our understanding of Frost’s poem?
Is the Juvenile System failing today’s society?
