Case Assignment
Select one of the two following options for this Module Case assignment.
Option 1: Prepare a slide presentation with recorded narration (10-12 slides not including title and reference slides) for your supervisor and team members. Your presentation should provide an evaluation showing how introducing a new HRIS can benefit an organization with 250 employees that currently has an automated record-keeping system. Explain why a new system is better than the current one by comparing and contrasting a new system with the current HRIS application. Make a final recommendation for which HRIS to purchase or retain and explain why you selected this option. (You may need to meet with your current HRM to learn about the current system in use.)
Option 2: Prepare a slide presentation with recorded narration for your supervisor and team members. The presentation must not contain less than 10 slides–not including title and reference slides–but the presentation can contain significantly more than 10 slides, if needed. Your presentation should provide an overview of three HRIS systems showing how an HRIS can benefit an organization with 250 employees that currently does not have an automated record-keeping system. Make a final recommendation to your supervisor and team members for which HRIS option should be purchased and explain your selection rationale.
Assignment Expectations
Demonstrate critical-thinking and analysis of the issue.
Recommend 3 sources for additional information that you include at the end of your presentation (do not use materials in this course as your additional information). At least one of your three references about a concept in this assignment topic should come from a peer-reviewed academic journal found in the Trident Online Library. Cite sources of information utilized to prepare your assignment.
Proofread your work and make sure it is as professional-appearing as possible. Remember that people today do not want to watch a PowerPoint presentation with slides that are full of words. They want to see no more than 5 words and a picture on every slide. Additional words should be on the note pages. A best practice is to insert one bullet point on each slide. If you want multiple, very short bullet points on one slide, transition each bullet point in one at a time. In addition, the pictures should be real people, not clip art; pictures of employees of the company are preferable.
[Tip: Type out the narration for each slide on the notes pages and you can read it as your recording. Save each recording as the slide number, such as Slide 3, etc.]

After your recent successful presentation to the management team at
company XYZ, the board has invited you for another written report at
the next board meeting. Remember, now you are the so-called guru of
management theory.
From your past research, you have determined the issues they are
having and the causes. For this particular report, you must apply a
management theory to the current situation surrounding company
XYZ.
Now that they know what management theory is, be sure to teach the
board members on the overview of the historical development behind
management theory. Present at least one management theory that you
feel will solve their management problems. Identify the theory’s
structure (what are the components). Interpret the overall historical
development behind the theory. Compare and contrast it with another
management theory. Finally, include your own conclusion or solution
for the company.
Write a 5 to 8-page paper (excluding title page and reference page)
double spaced with 1-inch margins. Try to use the APA writing style
as your guide, citing references as appropriate.
Use at least 5 but no more than 10 references with at least 3
references from journal articles (use the TUW library databases where
possible for this).

How did these processes of commodification work, both practically and ideologically? Focus
your answer on either the African coast, or the slave ship, or North America’s slave markets.

The Story of Sam
When Sam was a youngster, he was quiet and somewhat withdrawn. He grew up with his mother and stepfather. Sam’s stepfather was a big, husky guy with a booming voice who often intimidated Sam and his mother. The stepfather also would drink heavily and, at those times, became physically and verbally abusive to both Sam and his mother. Sometimes, when the stepfather would return from a bar, he would wake Sam up and beat him for some perceived transgression even if it were not so. Sam’s mother, also afraid of the stepfather, did not protect Sam.
Sam grew into a teenager who had very few friends. His schoolwork was poorly done as he remained so anxious and frightened at home. He did not tell anyone about the situation because he was ashamed. At times, he thought about suicide, even as a young teenager. At one point, at age 14, Sam tried to hang himself in the garage. His mother found him and released him, comforting and chastising him at the same time. They decided to keep this another secret from Sam’s stepfather.
Sam barely finished high school. His teachers noticed a change in him and sent him to the school guidance counselor. Sam was clearly very depressed; he remained, for a brief period, in counseling and then quit, feeling it didn’t help. He took up drinking and found that, then, his terribly overwhelming sad thoughts went away for a while. He snuck drinks at home and also began smoking marijuana. He liked the euphoria that this drug gave him.
After he left school, Sam continued to drink and smoke marijuana. When he was not using, he felt his depression overtake him. He tried to work at several part-time jobs — at Wendy’s, warehouse work, Lowe’s, and a supermarket — but these jobs did not last. Sam simply could not keep up with the work, and he was let go. These rejections caused him to drink more, and the vicious cycle continued. Each time, he stopped using, he became so depressed that he thought of killing himself.
One day at age 23, Sam became so depressed that he cut his wrists severely. His mother found him and, this time, called an ambulance. For the first time, Sam was hospitalized, and offered treatment.
Screening and assessment are central to identifying and treating clients with cooccurring disorders (CODs) in a manner that is timely, effective, and tailored to all of their needs. The assessment process helps fulfill a critical need, as most people with CODs receive either treatment for only one disorder or no treatment at all.
Most counseling professionals can initiate the screening process. Understanding why, whom, and when to screen and which validated tools to use are the keys to success.
The assessment process is a multifactor, biopsychosocial approach to determining which symptoms and diagnoses might be present and how-to tailor decisions about treatment and follow-up care based on assessment results.
The 12 steps of assessment are designed to foster a thorough investigation of pertinent biopsychosocial factors contributing to, exacerbating, and mitigating the client’s current symptomology and functional status. At its core is the client’s chronological history of past symptoms of substance use disorders (SUDs) or mental illness, as well as diagnosis, treatment, and impairment related to these issues.
Counselors should get a detailed description of current strengths, supports, limitations, skill deficits, and cultural barriers. Identification of a client’s stage of change and readiness to engage in services will inform treatment planning and optimize adherence and outcomes.
TWELVE STEPS IN THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Your term paper should be written with following in mind:
You are to write, using any one of the particular philosophers’ theories or concepts that you have read, been taught, or that have been discussed throughout the entire semester, a practical and applied use in the real world. Specifically, you are to summarize one philosopher’s most prominent theories, and those theories’ potential for practical application in your area of personal, professional, or academic interest.
Your term paper should take the form of:
1) Introduce your paper. We’re studying the great moral philosophers, and all of our philosophers have been included for very good reasons; your introduction should indicate your understanding of the main reason(s) for your philosopher’s inclusion, as well as what makes them worthy of our attention.
2) Summarize the key concepts (at least one; no more than three) posited and developed by that philosopher – this should include what their philosophy replaced and/or what has replaced it since, if applicable, and should show a well-rounded understanding of their work both in and of itself, as well as within the context of the overall academic study and applied practice of Ethics.
▪ 2A) Included in your summary of their work should be topically accurate citations of and quotations from their written work that support the focus of your summary of their main ideas.
◦ 3) Discuss the possibilities of practically applying your chosen philosopher’s work to a contentious issue within a personal, professional, or academic area of your own choosing, most often the one in which you are working in or toward currently, but it could also be an area or topic of merely casual interest to you.
▪ 3A) Included in your section on practical application should be at least one example of a case study or hypothetical situation in your chosen field in which the philosopher’s work could be applied, as well as a discussion of the means by which it would be applied, and, if applicable, resolved.
◦ 4) You should wrap up your term paper by summarizing and tying together the salient points of what you’ve presented in terms of the philosopher’s key concepts and potential for practical application.
