1) Use the Brainstorming in this week’s Hypothesis Assignment to write a piece of fiction where you tell the story from multiple perspectives, a la Morrison.
-You developed some characters this week. Think of a plot where the characters come together. Make sure you develop them so that they are believable. Examples of settings that may be plausible: a funeral, schoolroom, a museum, a mall, a restaurant.
-Think of a conflict involving otherness. Develop the conflict in a plot.
-Tell the story from each character’s perspective.

2) Post a Third Person Narration piece that uses one of the following:
-THIRD PERSON OMNISCIENT: When writing in third person omniscient we use the words he and she. In third person Omniscient we can show the thoughts and actions of all our characters.
-THIRD PERSON LIMITED: Third Person Limited is similar to the Omniscient form, but here we are limited to the thoughts and actions of just one character. In this way it helps the reader to emotionally connect with that character. We are only listening to his/her thoughts and are thereby drawn closer to that character. Other characters may be in the scene, but it’s only the thoughts of our main character that we learn about. It’s only his/her thoughts that the reader will care about.
-THIRD PERSON OBJECTIVE: When we write in the Third Person Objective we are only writing about our character’s actions and not his or her thoughts. Here we do not use, he said, or she said. The reader isn’t told what is going on in the character’s mind, but should be able to work this out from what the reader is doing or what is happening to him/her. In other words, it is up to the reader to decide what is happening in the character’s mind.
Suggestion: Make it a point to try your hand at writing with a particular subgenre in mind: utopia/ dystopia, romance, or action/thriller. Take a look at “Harrison Bergeron” for ideas.

In 1,500-2,000 words, address the following:

Summary Assignment to create an oral presentation in which they summarize and interpret
selected data from the Framingham Heart Study. Interpreting data is a crucial part of practical
biostatistics that shows mastery of data evaluation and implications for application.
In both the summary paper and oral presentations, students will describe the study sample based
on patient characteristics, compare risk factors among men and women, determine which
characteristics are associated with Glucose through simple and multivariable linear regression,
and determine if there are significant differences in risk factors between persons with and
without prevalent coronary heart disease (CHD). Included will be a discussion of the
appropriateness of the data collection methods used in comparison to other methods that could
have been used.
Data are to be concisely interpreted and the resulting summary paper cannot exceed 300 words in
length for each question. The oral presentation may be conducted using audio, YouTube, Adobe
Spark, PowerPoint, or another form of communication file. Video files are optional. The student

You have spent 15(+) months in varying degrees of quarantine, learning remotely, caring for yourselves and others under unprecedented and frankly traumatic conditions. Instead of bulldozing our way through as though this were a normal quarter, please create an offering that reflects this time, your experience of it, and your thoughts about the future. This could take one of the following forms, or something I’ve not anticipated (in this case, please consult with me):
– A piece of art in any medium (not just visual)
– A piece of writing that is distinct from your Capstone Essay. This could be poetry; prose; a scene, monologue, or dialogue; a meditation; a short story; a collection of journal entries; a letter….
– A time capsule with an annotated catalog
– An example of making, teaching, or other form of knowledge production from your non-academic life. This could be a cooking/baking/gardening demo, a mini yoga or meditation or martial arts lesson, a community organizing workshop element….
We will come together at the end of the quarter to share these offerings with each other.
Please note:
– Whichever vehicle you choose, your offering must demonstrate substantial effort. It is obvious when a project has been dashed off vs. when it has been undertaken with care.
– At the same time, this assignment is not meant to be overly burdensome. For me, the most important part of the conventional 499 exhibit is students coming together to mark this moment of transition and celebrate themselves, their loved ones, and each other. This experience is designed to support your developing a meaningful, actionable idea for your pandemic offering.
Walking can be a valuable and pleasurable part of the writing/artmaking process, helping us to sort out our thoughts and connect to our creative impulses. For 20 minutes, take a walk somewhere near where you are currently living/staying. You might have a destination in mind, but try to walk in a leisurely way—you are not in a hurry and can change your itinerary mid-course. Resist the temptation to check your phone or talk to passersby—this time is for you to be in the world but focused inwardly, a kind of moving meditation.
Questions to consider:
What is coming up for you as approach graduation? What is the dominant ‘feeling tone’ of this moment? Wistful, fatigued, anxious, excited?
What do you want to do with this emotion? Do you want to express it? Connect with others? Reflect? Distract yourself? Make something new?
What about the last 15 months will you want to remember and be able to access as you move forward?
What forms or actions align with your goals? Do you want to write, draw, teach, move your body?
What kind of support do you need to create your offering?
When you return from your walk, quietly pull out a sheet of paper or open a Word doc and freewrite about your experience; then prepare a memo for me, describing your ideas. If you have specific questions or concerns, this is a good place to register them.

Week 7 Family Nursing Theory and Literature Review Paper

Chapter 3 focuses on using family theory to develop critical and creative thinking to support and implement family interventions in a health event or family situation. This chapter lays the groundwork for theory-guided, evidence based family nursing practice. Remember family units can be defined in many different ways. Think beyond biological and consider social and community networks as “family” for your patients.
Potential issues to research for your literature review would include alcoholism, chronic disease, chronic grief, death of a loved one, dementia, stroke, domestic violence, mental illness, or obesity. If your topic is multifaceted, select one aspect of your topic for this paper.
Select a family theory that interests you. The problem will be the focus of your literature review for your paper where you will utilize scholarly, peer-reviewed articles or research papers that discuss this problem and how it should be managed. Utilize at least 3 scholarly articles for this paper.
1. Provide a brief background on your selected family issue, situation, or health event
2. Provide an overview of your theory and include key concepts of your theory such as who is the individual, family, organization, or society that your family theory focuses on
3. Describe and analyze the family theory, discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the theory, include how this theory can be applied to your identified problem
4. Provide a summary of your findings, include what you learned, what more needs to be known about this problem and how it affects families

Use APA format throughout the paper. There are software programs that can help you to correctly and effortless format your paper in APA format, including running header, title page, and references. PERRLA software is inexpensive and user friendly. If writing is not your strength, get started on your paper early and send it to the Online Writing Center for editing help.
The body of your paper needs to be 3-4 pages long. This does NOT include the title page and reference page. Papers that are more than 4 pages long will not be accepted.
It is important to cite sources to support your ideas and also cite when your ideas are not original thoughts. When citing a source, you will need to use in-text citations. Do not quote unless absolutely necessary. Quotations should be rare or non-existent in this paper.
