SECTION ONE: INTRODUCTION (about 250 words)
This section provides the positioning for your essay (scope and objectives, nature of the problem). It should include an introduction to the overall theme of your paper as well as a rationale for your chosen topic (why is it relevant, interesting, etc.?)

What do you make of the fact that the ACT UP activists thought to document themselves in real time?
Directions: Answer all of these questions as or after you watch the film. Upload your answers to the assignment and save this to add to your film journal at the end of the quarter. The film journal will have additional questions. Come to class prepared to discuss your answers.
1.What do you make of the fact that the ACT UP activists thought to document themselves in real time?
2What did you think of ACT UP’s tactics as activists? Which signs caught your attention? Which chants?
3.At one point an activist says that AIDS is the nexus of inequality. What do you think they meant by that? How does that relate to other things we have studied in this class?
4.The activists talked about “breaking down the cult of the expert.” How do you think that is related to feminist knowledge production?
5.What did you make of the urgency we see conveyed by the activists?
6How did watching the film make you feel? Why do you think it made you feel that way?
Had you ever heard of ACT UP before? If so, how?

Using Prayer and Scripture in Counseling
The online lectures suggested some “cautions” or possible negative impacts when using prayer and Scripture in counseling. The importance of those cautions may be better understood in seeking to apply prayer and scripture with a client. Read the case study below and respond to the following:
What would you consider the most therapeutic use of prayer with this client? Why?
What would you consider to be the most therapeutic use of Scripture with this client? Why?
As you consider the integration of psychology and theology, discuss how you would integrate theology into this case. What aspects from psychology would you bring into this case?
How do your responses to the first two questions mesh with your response to the third? Do they integrate?
Case Study:
Chichima is a 20-year old single woman who is the child of Nigerian immigrants. She was referred for counseling because of a recent suicide attempt in which she ingested some pills and then called a friend when she started experiencing some symptoms of the medication. She was hospitalized for two weeks in her local hospital’s psychiatric unit, and upon her release, she was referred to a local secular counselor. Because of her Christian faith, she received a referral to the agency from her pastor. While in the hospital, she was prescribed an antidepressant and will follow up regularly with her psychiatrist.
In her third counseling session with you, she divulges that 7 months ago, she found that she was pregnant and decided to end the pregnancy through an abortion without telling anyone. The due date for the baby was roughly the same time that she attempted suicide.
From your first two sessions with her, she shared that she is a Christian, but about five months ago she pulled away from church attendance, much to the concern of her Nigerian parents who do not know about her pregnancy and abortion. She felt that she could not pray anymore because she felt that she had committed a terrible sin. She also reports feeling very uncomfortable praying because of the shame she is carrying. She admits that she chose this agency because of their Christian worldview. She knows that in order to heal, she will eventually have to work through the pregnancy and abortion, but the thought of participating in any Christian practice scares her.

In what ways are ANA Standards of Professional Performance reflected in your work setting?
There are
four scholarly discussions in this course. The purpose of the discussions are
to stimulate the intellectual inquiring of evidence for conceptual and
theoretical attributes of nursing knowledge based upon American Nursing
Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. The student’s
reflection is a 100-word essay in APA 7th edition with
references.
Discussion 1: In what ways are ANA Standards of Professional
Performance reflected in your work setting?
Prone positioning used to improve oxygenation in mechanical ventilated covid-19 patients.
Methods Section
Assignment:
The methods section of a scientific
paper is one of the most important elements of the communication of your
work. Readers need to know that your
process was well thought out, appropriate, and able to be reproduced if
needed. A weak methods section will create
more questions than answers after reading and will not inspire confidence in
the results of the work.
Every methods section is unique to the particular study
design, so there is not a one-size-fits-all template to generate a quality
methods section. Elements you should
consider are below:
·
What is your overall methodological approach to
collecting your data?
o
Qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods?
·
Why is your chosen research method(s)
appropriate (provide evidence)?
·
Description of your measurement tools/modalities,
materials, and equipment.
o
Why they are relevant, valid, and reliable?
·
How did you determine the composition of your
sample? Why?
·
How will you analyze your data? Why did you choose this data analysis
strategy?
o
How does this align with your study
objectives/aims?
The methods section should be clear
and contain a sufficient amount of information to describe and validate all of
your investigative actives. The elements
are described above just provide a general framework of what should be included
in a methods section; the content will be determined by the complexity of the
investigation. Please make sure you are
paying attention to the formatting of the headings (i.e., Level 1, 2, 3, etc.)
of your sections.
Please refer to the examples/resources in Canvas for both
quantitative and qualitative examples of the presentation of methods sections
in scientific papers.
This assignment is due on 2/20 by 23:59 as a Word file
upload on Canvas. APA 7th
edition formatting is to be used on this assignment with your name, course, and
section in the header (no title page required).
