Evaluate the MMP1-3 Police Candidate Interpretive Reports for Mr. E
Download Mr. E
. and Ms. F
Download Ms. F
. For this discussion, you will take on the role of an industrial-organizational psychologist recently awarded a contract to evaluate potential police candidates. The purpose of the evaluations is to determine the psychological capability of the applicants to be certified as police officers in your state. The applicants you are examining are applying for certification and will be vested with a position of public trust. If certified as police officers, the individuals will likely be required at some future time to exercise significant physical strength and undergo high emotional stress. As the examining psychologist, you are required to comment on the applicants’ social comprehension, judgment, impulse control, potential for violence, and/or any psychological traits that might render her or him psychologically at risk to be certified. The state requires that each applicant’s examination include the following elements:
Interview and History: The psychologist must personally interview the applicant and provide a summary of the applicant’s personal, educational, employment, and criminal history.
Required Personality Test: The applicant shall be administered any current standard form of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3) by the licensed psychologist who interviewed the individual, or by a paraprofessional employed by and under the direct control and supervision of that licensed psychologist.
Other Testing Methods: If (after conducting the required test) the licensed psychologist is unable to certify the applicant’s psychological capability or risk to exercise appropriate judgment and restraint to be certified as a police officer, the psychologist is directed to personally employ whatever other psychological measuring instrument(s) and/or technique(s) deemed necessary to form her or his professional opinion. The use of any such instrument(s) and/or technique(s) requires a full and complete written explanation to the commission.
For the purposes of this discussion, assume the interview and history information reported to you by Mr. E. and Ms. F. is unremarkable and that neither candidate communicated anything to you during the interview that raised concerns about her or his capabilities to exercise appropriate judgment and restraint to be certified as a police officer. Review the MMP1-3 Police Candidate Interpretive Reports for Mr. E. and Ms. F. and evaluate the professional interpretation of this testing and assessment data from an ethical perspective. In your initial post, begin by communicating your decisions about Mr. E. and Ms. F., and clearly state in your first sentence whether you are recommending certification or communicating reservations. Begin the section on each candidate with one of the following statements, identifying each candidate by name.
To recommend certification: I have examined [insert applicant’s name], and it is my professional opinion that this person is psychologically capable of exercising appropriate judgment and restraint to be certified as a police officer. Follow the above statement with a one-paragraph rationale for your conclusion based on the available MMPI-3 test results. Be specific and include relevant information from the interpretive report to justify your decision. Follow the rationale with a brief comparison of at least one additional personality test you might consider administering beyond the MMPI-3 that would be valid and reliable for the purposes of evaluating police candidates. Debate the pros and cons of the potential use of the other assessment(s). Explain any ethical implications that may arise from the interpretation of this data.
To communicate reservations: I have examined [insert applicant’s name], and it is my professional opinion that this person is psychologically at risk for exercising appropriate judgment and restraint to be certified as a police officer.

Essay: Molly Bang

Picture Books (Abstract Image Assignment + Short Essay)
Overview
In the Foreword to Molly Bang’s Picture This, Rudolf Arnheim writes that Bang’s “special talent derives from her natural response to what comes alive when one is open to the elements of vision, the disks and the rectangles, the reds and the blacks. Far from being mere shapes, they transmit joy and fear, awe and gentleness. . . . These simple shapes, animated by Molly Bang, do more than tell a story: they offer an order, a kind of grammar for the eyes, a recipe for yet further things to say. Therefore, they also teach” (x). These are 10 (though by no means all) of Bang’s insights (all are direct quotations from Bang):
Smooth, flat, horizontal shapes give us a sense of stability and calm. See Bang, pp. 42-43.
Vertical shapes are more exciting and more active. Vertical shapes rebel against the earth’s gravity. They imply energy and a reaching toward heights or the heavens. See Bang, pp. 44-46
Diagonal shapes are dynamic because they imply motion or tension. See Bang, pp. 46-54.
The upper half of a picture is a place of freedom, happiness and triumph; objects placed in the top half often feel more “spiritual.” The bottom half of a picture feels more threatened, heavier, sadder, or more constrained; objects placed in the bottom half also feel more “grounded.” An object placed higher up on the page has “greater pictorial weight.” See Bang, pp. 54-62.
The center of the page is the most effective “center of attention.” It is the point of greatest attraction. The edges and corners of the picture are the edges and corners of the picture world.
Light backgrounds feel safer to us than dark backgrounds because we can see well during the day and only poorly at night. See Bang, pp. 68-69.
We feel more scared looking at pointed shapes; we feel more secure or comforted looking at rounded shapes or curves. See Bang, pp. 70-71.
The larger an object is in a picture, the stronger it feels. See Bang, pp. 72-76.
We associate the same or similar colors much more strongly than we associate the same or similar shapes. See Bang, pp. 76-80.
We notice contrasts; contrast enables us to see. See Bang, p. 80.
Assignment Guidelines and Expectations:
It is important that you complete the reading within the second module in the course in order to complete this assignment. Please be sure to read the Molly Bang links in our second module before completing this essay.
PART ONE
Create a picture combining four colors (including background) and abstract shapes in order to illustrate some aspect of Bang’s principles.
You might use a particular scene from one of the stories we have read for class in this unit, or your image may represent a theme from the story. It is important to keep in mind that Bang states that it is easier to depict strong emotions than weak ones, and that you should use abstract shapes, such as the ones used in Bang’s depiction of “Little Red Riding Hood.” You may create this image on the computer or using materials such as construction paper.
PART TWO
Write a 4-page minimum (typed in Times New Roman font, 12 pt., double-spaced) explanation of your final picture, including a minimum of three direct quotes from the story and three from the book Picture This.
In your essay, discuss what you wanted to accomplish through your image (what emotion were you attempting to evoke), and what steps you went through in order to create the image. Did you try using shapes that didn’t work? Why not? What struggles did you face in creating an image using the principles from Picture This in order to represent a theme or scene from the story?
This is not an art class and your picture is not expected to be pretty, but it does need to reflect your understanding ofPicture This and, most importantly, your ability to analyze aspects of the short story that you are illustrating.
Deliverables
Your essay must include these items:
Include a minimum of three direct quotations from the story you chose.
Include a minimum of three direct quotes from Picture This.
Quotes and reference pages must be cited in APA format at the end of the essay.
Your image and essay must be about one of the stories we have read in this unit.

online education vs traditional education

Compare/Contrast Essay
online education/traditional education
Do not use outside sources for this assignment. Choose only a topic that you know enough information about so that you can compare and contrast it without performing research.
Remember, too, how this paper should be structured. You should have an introductory paragraph that introduces the reader to the topic and ends with a thesis statement (if you need to, review the Creating an Effective Introductory Paragraph. Then, your essay should have several body paragraphs, each making one point that directly relates to the thesis statement. Finally, wrap up your paper with a concluding paragraph.
I uploaded the outline.

Please choose one of the prompts and write a paper 600 to 800 words long. Upload your paper as a word document (or equivalent; no pdf). Write the prompt (number and/or text) at the top of the first page. Prompts are below.

Please choose one of the prompts and write a paper 600 to 800 words long. Upload your paper as a word document (or equivalent; no pdf). Write the prompt (number and/or text) at the top of the first page. Prompts are below.
Why?
This assignment is meant to assess your critical understanding of the contents, your capacity to reflect autonomously on them, and your capacity to formulate and defend a philosophical argument in a written text.
How?
A philosophical paper is structured like the defense of a thesis. This means that you must have a definite claim in your mind, state it clearly, and propose an argument in its support; in other words, you must provide reasons for your claim. The steps of your argument and the way they are connected should be clear for the reader, and the conclusion should be easily identifiable and follow logically from the argument.
Tips
Address the prompt completely. If the prompt includes more than one question or aspect, your paper should address all of them.
State your thesis at the very beginning of your paper.
Make your argumentative steps explicit: announce them in the first paragraph, and then follow them thoroughly.
Make sure your paper shows that you studied and understood the materials.
Use short sentences and a straightforward style. Do not try to impress with complicated phrases or terms that are hard to explain.
Do not take it for granted that your reader already knows the topics that you are dealing with. Although it is your instructor and TAs that will evaluate the paper, you are expected to define explicitly the main concepts that you are using.
Use your own words and possibly your own examples. This demonstrates autonomy and capacity of reflection. Examples help the reader understand better what you have in mind.
It is a good idea to identify a possible objection to your argument and respond to it.
Connect the conclusion of the paper to the thesis that you stated at the beginning.
Plagiarism (passing off as your own the ideas or words of someone else) is not allowed in any form. Always credit your sources. Be aware that papers are automatically checked for plagiarism.
More tips
Professor Jim Pryor of New York University has developed and made available more extensive guidelines that you might find useful: http://www.jimpryor.net/teaching/guidelines/writing.html. Very clear, with plenty of examples, they include helpful tips regarding the different stages of writing. I recommend having a look at them. (Do not consider the paragraph on “How you’ll be graded”: you’ll be graded according to the rubric below).
Questions
How should I format the paper?
There are no specific requirements regarding formatting. Just write the prompt number and/or title at the beginning of the paper.
Should I add a title?
Not required but encouraged. It contributes to the clarity of the paper.
Are quotes and references required? Are they allowed?
Quotes and references are not required, but they are allowed. If you quote, you should acknowledge the author, and add the reference at the end of the paper, in a separate paragraph titled “References”.
If I add references, how should I format them?
References should include author and title. If you have them, also add: year of publication; book title (for book chapters) or name of the journal (for journal articles); place of publication and publisher (for books or book chapters) or journal issue and pages (for journal articles). If you do not have the full reference it’s ok, just include author and title.
Can I add references to the course videos and slides?
Yes. You can refer to them as (minilecture #…), or (guest video on…), or the like, and add the reference at the end of the paper, in the “References” paragraph.
Can I add references outside the course readings?
Yes. However, your paper should not focus mainly on them.
Are footnotes allowed?
Yes, but keep in mind that footnotes are secondary additions. If you use them, do not use them to explain major points.
Does the word count include the prompt, references (if any) and footnotes (if any)?
No.
PROMPTS
Which one among the three philosophical theories of the Pure Ego examined by James (Spiritualist, associationist, and transcendental) do you find more convincing? Why?
What is, in your view, the most important aspect that defines personal identity? Why?
There are different theories concerning what race is. According to some, we should actually stop using the concept of race. Do you think this would be useful or damaging? Why?
What does Ian Hacking mean, in his paper, when he says that we “make up” people? What are his central claims? Critically assess the plausibility of his proposal.
Do you think biotechnologies and new technologies more generally are changing the way I which we think about personal identity? If yes, in what sense? If no, why?
Choose one of the additional resources of week 5. What does it suggest about the self and/or personal identity? Critically evaluate its contents with reference to the topics studied.

ITC Vanity and Kitchen Cabinet Case

Fully address the three requirements below:
1. Summarize the most important facts in the case. (What is taking place here? What is the organization that is considering the case? Who has initiated this case? What facts have been presented? What are they seeking?)
2. List three possible actions the Commission could recommend to the President. Be as specific as possible.
3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each of the alternative actions in (2)? In your answer, consider the various trade theories we have explored. In addition, consider all the stakeholders involved.
4. If you were a Commissioner what action would you recommend to the President? Please explain your recommendation.
Objectives:
· Improve understanding of how trade decisions are made in the real world.
· Gain experience with important writing skills–summarizing information, giving succinct recommendations, and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of your recommendations.
Keys to Success:
· As you read the case below, begin prewriting by underlining and annotating information that seems to be essential to understanding the case before the Trade Commission.
· Present the summary as a problem, which will help convey the information in a lively way.
· Write your recommendations in the grammatical form of commands. That is, start the first sentence of each recommendation with a verb.
· An excellent paper will include material from the chapter as well as the lectures. It will list three strengths and weaknesses for each recommendation.
Requirements:
· Font: 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced throughout.
· Length: 3-4 pages.
· See Syllabus for submission requirements. Also, review Common Errors, provided by the Professor on Blackboard.
Grading:
Your paper is worth 10 points and will be graded on the following criteria:
· Mechanics/Format—Free of errors in grammar, spelling and format. Good choice of words. Restates questions and gives answers.
· Logic—Well organized paper with ideas arranged logically.
· Content—Responds to the assignment. Displays understanding of this week’s textbook, video and Powerpoints assignments.

compile a financial statement and reporting plan

For this assignment, you will complete a financial statement with estimates for the first three years of operation for your proposed venture. Use the template provided by Score.org included in this week’s resources. Score.org is a 501(c)(3) organization that is a resource partner with the United States Small Business Administration. Complete this document and submit it with your best estimates for the first three years of operation. Please keep in mind that the template is typical of what most stakeholders and investors will be looking for to assess your value proposition.

Brooklyn Brewery Memo

The assignment:
Referring to the case Brooklyn Brewery: Setting the Course for Growth for specifics (and no other sources), incorporate answers with solid support to the following questions in your memo:

1. Describe the beer industry’s three-tier system.
2. What advantages and challenges were created for the Brooklyn Brewery brand by its close connection to Brooklyn? Do you think it was wise to name the new business Brooklyn Brewery? Support your position.
3. In what major ways did the industry change in recent years?
4. What tradeoffs are inherent in Brooklyn Brewery’s options for future growth? What is the role of strategy in driving growth?

1) Set the margins to one inch on all sides. Set the line spacing to single-spaced and be sure the space before/after a line is set to zero so it is actually single-spaced. Use Times New Roman
12-point font for the entire document. Your memo must be a Word document.
2) Starting with “TO:” as the top line on the page, single-space this heading:
TO: Dr.
FROM: Your Name
DATE: The due date for the memo
RE: Brooklyn Brewery Memo
Then skip one line and single-space the body of the memo with one blank line between paragraphs (i.e., like I have typed this assignment). Do not indent the paragraphs.
3) The memo should be one full page in length. Be so thorough that it is difficult to get everything you want to say into one full page single-spaced without it spilling over to a second page. The one full page will help you calibrate what thorough but concise looks like. If your writing spills over to a second page, work to write more concisely. If you have another line or two available on the page that you are not utilizing, make use of that space and be more thorough.
