Describe and give examples of the four types of ecosystem services.

Part TWO of the Unit exam consists of FIVE essay questions. You have choice in the questions you answer for this portion of the exam, however you must meet the following requirements.
Answer a total of FIVE questions, each question is worth 10 points and will be graded using the Exam Rubric.
Answer two questions from Ch 4, and three questions from Ch 5. **Questions below**
Answer these questions in your own words (i.e., no plagiarism) and cite sources (e.g., textbook, websites, articles) you have used to formulate your response.
Upload a Word document that includes the question prompts and responses. There is no time limit, but your file must be uploaded by the deadline.
Students must select questions from the following list. NOTE: This is the same list provided in the previous week.
Chapter 4 – Select TWO question from this chapter
Define and describe the process of natural selection. Provide an example of the role gene mutations have in natural selection.
Define and describe gene flow. Does gene flow increase or decrease the genetic diversity of a population?
If a friend or relative were to express one of the misconceptions about evolution listed in your textbook (see pg 84), how would you respond in a way that corrects them?
The concept of biodiversity hotspots can be controversial. Describe the controversy that surrounds this concept (using a specific area as an example might help) and give your view on how humans should prioritize efforts to protect biodiversity.
Population size can be limited by both density-dependent and density-independent factors. Provide TWO examples of ways that humans are causing density-independent factors to affect the population growth of other species.
Chapter 5 – Select THREE questions from this chapter
Describe and give examples of the four types of ecosystem services. Then explain how you would assign a dollar value to each type of ecosystem service.
Explain how the ecological island effect can limit the benefits of a protected area. Give a real world example of protected areas that are essentially ‘islands’ and explain actions that can be taken to manage these areas effectively.
Describe sustainable forest management and how this can reduce deforestation. Given that consumers still need wood products, do you think sustainable forest management is feasible? Explain your stance based on what you have learned in the class.
We discussed TWO kinds of values – instrumental and intrinsic. Which type of value do you think is most compelling? If you are using these values to argue for protection of a species, how would you make your case to fellow citizens in the Quad Cities?
In areas with rapid growth there is a need for housing. Take the position of someone who is opposed to development in favor of maintaining habitat for protection of endangered species and describe which conservation strategy you would advocate for and why. NOTE you must select from the conservation strategies outlined in Ch 5
Humans have always made use of natural resources and will continue to do so. What are some strategies (local, national, or global) that you can think of which would balance the need to use resources with conservation of biodiversity.

Explain the impact of Veterans using Cannabis compared to state legal authorization.

A 15–16-page literature review, Turabian Author Date format, with link to sources. Based upon your dependent variable/research question regarding the
“The impact of Veterans using cannabis compared to state legal authorization. The dependent variable is the state’s legal authority for the use of cannabis compared to how many veterans self-report using cannabis.”

The lit review must be grounded in prominent peer-reviewed work on your particular dependent variable/research question. The paper must illustrate why your research question is meaningful and theoretically significant. To do this, you must provide reader with a strong sense of the state of the established literature in their chosen sub-field and must identify areas where they can make a substantial contribution to existing theory and scholarly discourse.
Please note this teacher is very alert of grammer, avoid passive voice,
Start by briefly introducing your topic, providing your research question, and specifying your dependent variable. This should all be accomplished on page one of your lit reviews. Hypotheses: Is the use of medical cannabis different for Veterans as compared to non-Veterans depended on states that have legalized cannabis? In other words is there a connection of veterans taking cannibis due to states legalizing the drug and if there is an increase of veterans taking cannabis due to states legalizing the drug is it more recerational or to support a medical need such as to help with PTSD? PTSD is not the only medical condition… this is just an example.
Then, identify the peer-reviewed sources which represent the most prominent work done to date on your particular question. Describe key information from your reviewed sources in a manner that clearly connects to your specific research problem and helps you conceptualize how you will eventually study/tackle your problem. I have attached a few articles to give an idea, please be sure they are peer reviewed articles! Please provide the source/paper!! I have attached a paper from past classes to help with additional insights as well as how to do the Author/Date format for the Bibliography. Don’t worry about the stuff after the bibliogrpahy. Again this was focusing on other things about cannabis but might be useful.
Steer away from describing this relevancy in general terms.
Instead, describe the specific contribution the author(s) makes to ongoing scholarly conversations.
Speaking of conversations, a good literature review will put scholars into discussion with one another.
Use these conversations to illuminate how the key findings, research designs/methods and strengths/weaknesses of arguments and research approaches.
Finally, a good literature review will move seamlessly from this in-depth discussion of specific contributions/gaps up to the macro level, where the reader is provided with a sense of key advancements/setbacks and themes running throughout an entire body of literature. It takes practice and skill to effortlessly move your reader from specific contributions to a broad assessment of the state of an entire body of literature. But that is your goal.
REQUIREMENTS:
The literature review should consist of 14-16 pages, not counting any title page, tables or graphs, or references/works cited.
∙ The literature review should be in current Turabian format.
∙ The literature review must include citations from at least 25 sources. ∙ Acceptable sources include peer-reviewed journal articles, books from academic presses, and/or policy research papers published by reputable think tanks.

YOU ARE THE CHIEF!! 🙂
Create and develop your own agency. provided information such as the name of your agency? How big is it? How many are employed? How do you recruit? Which specialized units do you have? The purpose of this assignment is not just to have you be creative but also to get you thinking about all of the things that a chief of an agency has to worry about and provide for the agency to run smoothly. There will be issues that come up, individuals that misbehave needs that you have to meet (like when a pandemic strikes), and so forth. The topics from the first lecture will help as those are areas of concern.
