Composed Upon Westminster Bridge

You don’t have to answer every question in every journal. Just choose 2 to 3 guidelines to focus on as you read the text, and structure your response around them.
The Guidelines:

-Elaborate on the poem’s content, and be sure to include textual evidence in your discussion.

-A discussion / analysis of the poet’s persona, i.e. the poem’s speaker. Include textual evidence

-A response to a line or lines that you find significant. You can even do a close reading for the line(s), and this should be done alongside point 3 and/or 4.

-An examination of poetic techniques used, such as rhyme, alliteration, simile, metaphor, personification, allusion, consonance, rhythm [use this site to look up these terms: https://www.litcharts.com/literary-devices-and-terms],

-An analysis of the poet’s diction, perhaps noting specific word choices, or connotation and denotation. You will need a dictionary for this, such as dictionary.com.

-A discussion of the title’s significance.

-A sentence or two relating the poem to your experience or ideas or an explanation of problems you had in understanding the poem.

People in developed nations are fond of warning people in developing nations to stop destroying rainforest. People of developing nations often respond that this is hypocritical, because the developed nations became wealthy by deforesting their land and exploiting its resources in the past. What would you say to the president of a developing nation, such as Indonesia, in which a great deal of forest is being cleared?

Case analysis: U.S. vs. the World

Utilizing the references given to you for this assignment, you will pick one national comparison: U.S. vs. one other country.
Your case study should include specific data points (whether in written, table or pictorial format). Research peer-reviewed scholarly articles on healthcare policy and management for the data you have chosen to write about. Compare and contrast the U.S. healthcare policy and management against that of the other nation, to try to explain why such differences may exist. Your paper should be no more than 4 pages (not including title or references). Therefore, this is not exhaustive research paper — but, a high-level look at healthcare policy and management . Do not forget to include your references at the end of the case analysis.
There are many case study analysis guidance documents and samples available on the web, I have included one here: https://writingcenter.uagc.edu/writing-case-study-analysis

Of the three styles of Dryden that we’ve sampled thus far (the mock-heroic epic satire of “Mac Flecknoe,” the lyrical style of “A Song for St Cecilia’s Day”, & the “psychological drama” of “Absalom & Achitophel”) which do you think best expresses his artistic & technical mastery and/or his knowledge of human nature (his benevolent, compassionate heart)? You can make a case for a single work and/or talk about the strengths/limitations you find in a few pieces or in all three. You should be able to satisfactorily make your case in two short paragraphs.

Exhibit Stakeholders

OVERVIEW:
Imagine that you are a part of your zoo’s Exhibit Design committee. As we’ve discussed, the zoo is relatively small and has limited resources. The zoo’s Executive Director has negotiated a promise of funding with the city which will provide $2 million in taxpayer funds over the course of 5 years. These funds are to be allotted to the development of an exhibit space for an exciting new species. However, because the funds will come from the local community, the city believes that visitor wants should be prioritized over those of the animals and their care staff. That is, disproportionately more money should be spent on air conditioning units, benches, transportation, and other human pleasantries than on the animal welfare or keeper safety and husbandry components.
DISCUSSION QUESTION (DUE WEDNESDAY):
Write a letter to your city council members in opposition to this plan of action. Explain why this is ultimately not the best course of action, keeping in mind the mission and philosophy of the zoo. Justify your opinion with sources.

How has this crime/criminal justice movement impacted you and your life?

QUESTIONS
(ALL ANSWERS Required to be approximately 100 – 200 words).
After watching the documentaries, and reading chapter 1of the article, you must answer the questions.
1. Please view the following video Brooklyn Missing Boy: Police Arrest Man the Dismembered Child Had Asked for Directions to refresh your recollections on this story. There are two videos on the left margin of that page which you should also view.
After viewing them, please write a 15-20 sentence piece on your reactions. In particular, discuss how the Criminal Justice system should handle this case and what can be done to prevent another crime of this nature in the future. The postings will be graded on a 10-point scale with attention given to
The use of proper writing
The thoughtfulness of the posting
The connection(s) made to our class (especially after we complete the first chapter as students should begin to incorporate new knowledge into future postings)
2-Chapter 1 begins with our country’s obsession with crime. We are equally obsessed and fearful of crime even though victimization rates (the probability of being a victim) differs according to gender, race, age, social status, etc.

Answer the following:
How has this crime/criminal justice movement impacted you and your life?
3- Underlying theories about criminal behavior are assumptions about human nature–are people basically good or bad, for example.

Answer the following:
What is your opinion about humanity and human nature?
4- Our text explains the three perspectives (outlooks on criminal behavior) and I subscribe to the Sociological Perspective for several reasons.
First, I firmly believe people’s environmental factors and forces impact their lives including outlooks, values, beliefs and ultimately behavior. Simply put we are products of our environments and if we want to change humanity, we need to fix the social ills of a society such as poverty, racism, etc.
Second, the structural inequalities of American society are those barriers which block access to success. One example is how the vital resource of education is not equally distributed to our youth resulting in children not being prepared for future study and/or careers.
Third, I believe the crime is the manifestation of the social ills within a society and not the individual.
Answer the following:
Please discuss which criminological perspective do you most identify with and why.
