Outlining Your Evaluation

First, review the ways of organizing found in Chapter 16 of your Norton Field Guide. You may want to complete this on a separate sheet of paper.
Then, you should complete the following outline:
Thesis
Body Paragraph 1 – Criteria one and how your selected reading meets or does not meet it
Body Paragraph 2 – Criteria two and how your selected reading meets or does not meet it
Body Paragraph 3 – Criteria three and how your selected reading meets or does not meet it
Body Paragraph 4 – Acknowledge other opinions, including one source from Keiser’s Library
Conclusion
Reference List
To help strengthen your organization, you will complete your topic sentences. (Read more about topic sentences in Chapter 36 of your Norton Field Guide.)
Example Milestone 2:
Follow this example for submission:
Thesis:
Marcus (2014) is effective in arguing that people should demand more transparency about the time and cost of pursuing a university degree because he writes in a reader-friendly style, uses evidence from a variety of sources, and uses one student’s example as a continuing thread throughout his piece.
Body Paragraph 1:
To convince the everyday reader, someone must use a style that is reader-friendly.
Body Paragraph 2:
Good writing also uses good research, and Marcus (2014) does just this.
Body Paragraph 3:
More than large statistics that cover an entire country, one specific example can help a reader follow an argument.
Body Paragraph 4:
Many agree with Marcus (2014) and his argument regarding the need for transparency. Cassidy (2021) argues that “should have access to the same tools to make sure they’re getting the best value for their investment” (p. 14).
Conclusion:
Marcus (2014) is effective in convincing readers to demand transparency from colleges and universities as he effectively uses a reader-friendly style, employs good research, and touches readers’ hearts using the example of Alex Nichols.

Module 2 Online Discussion Impact Physics

Module 2 Online Discussion
Newton’s Laws of Motion are all around us! After you watch this module’s videos identify your own example(s) of each of Newton’s Laws of Motion. These example(s) should be everyday actions that you are witnessing or watching on the news.
Some past student examples have been: pushing a shopping cart, a car accident, diving, a plane taking off, a plane landing, a hailstone falling, dropping a book, falling down, sliding on ice, etc.
Discuss in detail how each of Newton’s Laws of Motion is connected to your example(s). Then reflect on how important understanding physics is to our everyday life. How does it improve, impact, and enrich it?

Social Issues: Information Policy & Ethics

Question- Pick an information profession/specialization (database administrator, information architect, librarian, computer programmer, systems analyst, IT technician, etc.), and describe two legal, policy, or ethical issues that she might routinely encounter in a given week on the job. Provide an example of how a legal, policy, or professional code of ethics change might be useful to help address the issues (use real examples if you’d like).

Rubric:

Grammar
Specialization-Specialization selected from the list or the specialization is an appropriate selection similar to those on the list
Legal, Policy, Ethical-Two examples are discussed fully and detail either legal, policy, or ethical issues the specialist would face routinely.
Needed changes-The discussion fully addresses both appropriate legal, policy, or ethical issues needed to address the identified issues.

Drug addicts shouldn’t be forced into treatment?

The Analysis section of a research paper is essentially a summary of the literature review. Review the rubric for summary writing, then evaluate this example analysis section according to the rubric.

Purpose and Form: _3_/3 points

Organization: _3_/3 points

Style: _2_/3 points

TOTAL: __8__ points

Review the summary to do the analysis.

Although, forcing drug addicts into treatment is caring, we have no right to force them into treatment, because it should be a decision that is up to them, regardless of whether or not they wish to continue taking drugs. It is nevertheless not the role of doctors to ordain people who are taking drugs as they might have a complex explanation of why they are taking such drugs. There are many reasons that are behind people who are addicted to drugs.
According to Josepher(2015) “forced treatment needs to be applied selectively. “ This means that we need to make distinctions between the type of drugs people are using instead of stating a general point about drug decisions. As an example, I have a friend with drépanocytose-SS in the most severe form. She has some medicines that she cannot obtain without a doctor’s prescription. As well as that, she relies on them to survive, and when she goes for a job she gets accused of taking drugs, and sometimes the employers fail to hire her even after she proves why her test came out that way.Instead of condemning all drug addicts or justly forcing them into treatment, we need to understand that some people have an obligation to use drugs and some drugs are associated with it for a purpose. In conclusion, Josepher says that “The usual reasons given are that addicts are not ready to get off drugs or are unwilling to change or they don’t want the treatment offered.” It could be elaborated that some of those taking drugs don’t have other choices when they depend on them while others wouldn’t want to change even if they could.
Another idea, by Szalavitz (2016), is that The most effective addiction treatment is kind, welcoming, and supportive, not harsh or confrontational. For example , There are a lot of patients routinely shying away from other necessary care for their health. Sadly, decades in which force is seen as the only way to motivate drug addicts well deserve this largely inhospitable system that sees harsh and disrespectful treatment not only acceptable but mandatory.

A third writer, Satel (2016) seems to think that In cases where drug addicts refuse help, they must undergo a monitored quality treatment program until they become open to change. As for many people who are unable to control themselves, decisions like this should apply. Over and above that, Satel explains that the longer one stays in treatment, the more time spent toward managing cravings and other negative states which might end up with a good result. Dupont Robert L. Dupont, (2016)primary position with the goal of reducing the use of illegal drugs assumes that some addicts should be committed to treatment against their will which is in agreement with what Satel(2016) stands for. Yet another idea by Dupont is that “Recovery from addiction may or may not involve treatment. It takes years of hard work” which explains the reason why those who are really addicted should be forced to get treatment since those people do not often think if they need help until they commit something irreparable. Therefore, Dupont concluded that the will of the addict is different when he is using drugs and when recovering his common sense.

social inequality in health

A quick recap on the research poster
Your research poster must bear on a topic that relates to social inequalities in health (i.e. not just on a health issue generally, there must be a social component to it as well).
You have two options for your research poster:
Do it on your own research (honours thesis, RAship – make sure you get permission from your supervisor!)
Pick a primary research study that’s interesting to you (hint: you can check out recent issues from leading medical journals, PNAS, or any other specialised health journal for articles that pertain to inequalities)
So what’s the point of the annotated bibliography?
This assignment means to achieve a couple of goals: 1. get you started early!; 2. ensure good citation practices and academic integrity; 3. deepen your understanding of the processes at play by looking at the broader literature.
Using a standard citation format, write an annotated bibliography of at least 5 references pertaining to the topic of your poster.
As with the poster, there are two options:
If you are doing a poster on your own research, start this assignment with a brief paragraph about your research topic.
If you are doing a poster on a published primary study, that study must be the first in the list of 5. Make sure it’s clearly labeled as such! You probably want to spend a little more time summarising this study than the others, which is all going to be helpful anyway, because you can use that in your poster!
We will use this grading rubric to grade these bibliographies, so please ensure that your annotated bibliography meets the grading criteria.
FAQ
What citation format should I use?
I have no preference regarding the citation format (you may use any widely recognized format, such as APA, MLA, ASA, etc) as long as all your citations are consistently in one citation format (see this citation guide for assistance). A surefire way to achieve this would be to invest some time in learning how to use a reference management software. Personally, I really like Zotero because it’s free, cloud based, and has a nifty Firefox extension that automatically “grabs” references that you are looking at online and imports them in your database.
What am I going to do with these other references in the poster?
These additional references can provide some elements of context (why is this research important/novel), so you would cite them in your context section, or they can elaborate on the methods, or provide some elements that help interpret the results (pointing to limitations, need for future research or importance/impact of the study). The latter elements can be featured into the discussion section of the poster.
Must these references all be used in the poster?
No, you do not have to rely on these 5 references for your final poster (i.e. this can be exploratory work).
What do you mean by authority in the rubric?
What are the authors’ credentials? In primary studies, we kind of assume that if the authors are PhDs with faculty positions, it’s all good. And usually that’s the right assumption! But you can go a little further. Without going down the rabbit hole of listing all the authors’ affiliation, check out if they declared any conflict of interest (e.g. paid positions by pharma companies). See if the last author and/or corresponding author’s affiliation is still current.
And with other sources, such as websites or other forms of scientific communication (podcasts), what are the authors’ credentials, or the associations’ credentials. It’s ok sometimes to cite sources that may have a bias, as long as you are able to identify that bias and take it into consideration in your assessment of the validity of their findings.
