critical essay analysis

In your final essay, argue taking one position or the other and write persuasively explaining your position: Do you agree that these women writers are always actively seeking to contextualize their work within their respective struggle for self-determination and nation building? Or, do you agree that although these women writers speak to the politics of their current political context, they also simply exhibit artistic voice that is specific and particular to their own personal journey (fictional or non-fictional) and are not responsible in representing a collective identity? While arguing you are required to look at six writers work: 3 Israeli and 3 Palestinians (each one from week 2, week 3, week 4) covering all three genres: poems, short stories, and films

With use of notes and analysis in the “informal info” document, use that information as well as your own analyzing skills to compose this essay using the sources below. Be sure to answer the questions above asked of you

1st discussion
What happened in this situation where you thought two things or events were related? Did one thing or event cause the other to occur?
in 2019 we had the challenge of reduction in the revenue of the organization, and since we had only two revenue-generating sources we need to think about how we can increase the revenue from these two sources, one of them was the member’s subscription fees to the organization, our members were former athletes and a mix of Olympic and paralympic athletes, we adjusted the fees and raise them from 20 to 30 JD per year (1 JD = .70 $).
when we announced the fees adjustment, the secretary-general addressed the organization that Paralympic athletes can not afford the new fees and asked for a reduction for the paralympic athletes the board of the organization sympathies with the case and decided to reduce it to 5 JD for paralympic members, the board thought that Paralympic athletes would have less income than other athletes and based the decision on that.
after we made the adjustment on the fees according to the board decision, and since we are a charity organization and we give away lots of means of support and to be able to give it to the most needed we have an agreement with a government entity to have an income background check on the people we provide our services to, we did the usual check on the list of the paralympic athletes and we found out that 80% of that list are of high-income individuals. it was a surprise but the decision was out and applied already.
What impact did your reasoning have on decision making?
the reason why we raised the membership fees was to cover the operational expenses for the organization that has 900 members, 200 of them are a paralympic athlete the reduction of the paralympic athletes’ membership fees did not get us to achieve our objective and we had to look for either source of funding for the organization. a report was presented to the board on the issue the board could not back up on the decision so two board members volunteered to help collect the funding needed.
What have you learned about correlation and causation that could help you with future decision making?
it will surely help me to find the reasonable and correct relations that are supported with good data to link variables in relationships so I can build solid correlations and causation before I move to the next step

2nd discussion post.
What happened in this situation where you thought two things or events were related? Did one thing or event cause the other to occur?
A situation that happen in the last couple of years was the company I coach for, Skate 2 Score, was not growing at the pace we expected in our learn-to-play 8u program. Originally, we would have all of our coaches rotate in for the program based on who was available, and there was not great organization within the structure. I believe that not having set coaches for this program caused the lack of growth.
What impact did your reasoning have on decision making?
My higher-ups had a similar viewpoint on the situation, and so they assigned specific coaches to the 8u program, including myself. A lot of old school hockey coaches, who usually coach older teams, have a hard time simplifying and relating to a younger group. At that age, it is imperative that the kids feel comfortable, feel like their coaches are friends to them, and to grow a love for the game. We also brought on some parents to volunteer, which gives us a viewpoint of how the kids and parents as a whole are viewing the program.
What have you learned about correlation and causation that could help you with future decision making?
This situation taught me that if there is a correlation between a method and an unintended consequence, it is imperative to be comfortable making a change with conviction. We thought a couple of years ago that having familiar faces for the kids would help our program grow. In that time, we have grown from one 8u team to four 8u teams, and there is a great sense of familiarity and camaraderie within the group.

Read the article in our module from the Atlantic over the efforts to desegregate schools. In the article, the author, Mathew Delmont, mentions that the ideas behind to keep integrated classrooms are a worthy one. For your own essay argue whether schools are still suffering unequal access to quality education based on race or economic status. Summarize the busing article and then create your stance based on current day research about education. Using our library databases, find three more articles to use as evidence to support your position. You may use the authors listed in the article to find current research.
3-5 pages MLA Format
In-text citations for both direct quotes and paraphrases
WRITERS TIP: Once you state evidence in a quotation, you must then follow with your own explanation of that quote. Please always embed quotes within a sentence so that it does not stand alone. Also, No quotes over 4 lines. No Block form, meaning no quotes that are indented and set out alone.
This assignment requires that you engage in an in-depth, academic inquiry. Thus, you are expected to read your sources carefully, and to understand them thoroughly, so that you can integrate material from them into your essay in a thoughtful, logical manner.

The Study of DNA cloning – Review Paper Summary

Guidelines/Rubric for Summary of Review Paper

Finding a Review Paper
Choose a subject that you like from the material that we covered in class: anything that stuck out to you as interesting, preferable about plants in some way but any scientific phenomenon that we went over is acceptable if it strikes your interest the most! Find a review paper that was written and published in a scientific journal by scientists and peer-reviewed. A review paper is different from a study in that it is bringing together information from many different studies done by scientists all over the world. The review paper discusses all of the latest research that has been done on that subject and creates a cohesive summary of all of the currently known information and discoveries regarding the subject matter
Here’s an example of how to narrow down your chosen subject matter and find a review paper:
Example: You know you like phloem, so you want to narrow down the subject to some particular aspect of phloem. Sieve tube elements and their companion cells work together within phloem, so maybe youd like to understand how they communicate and function together.
Do a Google Scholar or Library database search using keywords that describe the subject and make sure to use the search word “review” in a GoogleScholar search or choose the Review option on the database search so that you get mainly review papers.
Example GoogleScholar search: [Sieve tube elements companion cells communication review] Make sure you are looking for a review paper that is published in a scientific journal, it will have the word “review” in it somewhere on it and it will NOT have methods & materials or data analysis in it.
Next, read the review paper and grasp the information in a general way, not extreme technical understanding but understand the general concepts covered and what scientists have been studying and finding out about the subject you chose.
Next, write a summary about the information: what has been looked at by researchers, what has been discovered and what is still unknown (where are their gaps in knowledge where researchers need to ask more questions and do more studies?).
Check the rubric to make sure that your formatting etc. is within the guidelines and to see how points are distributed.
Submit to me before the end of the semester, I will have an assignment submission set up for it soon.

Rubric:
85 total points
Content & Development. 55 pts
Content is thorough and accurate
– Major research findings are stated clearly
– Writing is clear and summarizes major concepts in three sections:
– Introduction: Introduce the subject matter and its importance in our scientific understanding (why does the scientific community want to understand more about this?)
– Recent Discoveries: Summarize major recent discoveries
– Future Research: End with an observation of what is less understood or could use more research (according to what the authors have written about) and any questions that reading the paper has sparked that could be researched further
Organization & Structure. 10 pts
– Paragraphs flow into each other with connective concepts
– Concepts of the paragraphs are clear and easy to follow
– Succinct and scholarly in presentation
– no padding of paragraphs with unnecessary words or opinions
Format. 10 pts
Paper follows formatting and writing guidelines
– 12 point Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins
– student name, the date and our class name at top of first page
– title of the paper that is being reviewed written in APA style format under student name
Example:
Oparka, K. J., & Cruz, S. S. (2000). The great escape: phloem transport and unloading of macromolecules. Annual review of plant biology, 51(1), 323-347.
– Paper is appropriate in length 1 to 2 pages
– Use headings for the different sections
Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling. 10 pts
Correct grammatical construction and language structure
– free of typos, correct punctuation
– compound/complex sentences
– use of scientifically accepted third-person wording
– this means do not use any sentences that refer to yourself or your beliefs /thoughts /opinions in any way, refer only to the research itself in the context of relaying what has been found or what could be further explored
– clear, correct technical vocabulary (not highly technical, similar to what weve used in class)

CASE STUDY : Active Labor: Susan Wong

nstructions: Read the following case study and answer the reflective questions. Please provide rationales for your answers. Make sure to provide citations/references for your answers in 7th edition APA format.
CASE STUDY: Active Labor: Susan Wong
Mrs. Wong, a first-time mother, is admitted to the birthing suite in early labor after spontaneous rupture of membranes at home. She is at 38 weeks of gestation with a history of abnormal alpha-fetoprotein levels at 16 weeks of pregnancy.
She was scheduled for ultrasonography to visualize the fetus to rule out an open spinal defect or Down syndrome, but never followed through. Mrs. Wong and her husband disagreed about what to do (keep or terminate the pregnancy) if the ultrasonography indicated a spinal problem, so they felt they did not want this information.
Reflective Questions
1-As the nurse, what priority data would you collect from this couple to help define relevant interventions to meet their needs?
2-How can you help this couple if they experience a negative outcome in the birthing suite? What are your personal views on terminating or continuing a pregnancy with a risk of a potential anomaly? What factors may influence your views?
3-With the influence of the recent Human Genome Project and the possibility of predicting open spinal defects earlier in pregnancy, how will maternity care change in the future?

Macroeconomic perspectives

Company LULULEMON
how would the economic environments fare and impact the industry the company is in?
Is the future development working in favour of your selected company? Why?
What contributes to the systematic risk?
What is the unsystematic risk the company faces?[
How is the near-future debt and equity markets going to develop that can impact the company?

African American women in the Southeast US

In your project, you should
address each of the following points:
Describe
the community you selected. Be sure to include information about
why the community should be focused on and what some of the
population’s unique characteristics are (e.g., location, behaviors,
socioeconomic status, culture, etc.). Be sure to rely on scholarly sources
when describing the population rather than your own personal experience or
opinions.
Explain the
determinants of health for the selected population. That is, explain why
the selected community experiences higher rates of particular health
issues and what is influencing its health status. Consider the
social determinants of health for this community based on a health equity
approach.
Describe the health
issues affecting the community using the epidemiological approach
(see Chapter 2 of our book). Be sure to include information about what the
health issues are and the prevalence and incidence of the health issues in
the community. Focus specifically on those health issues that are
more prevalent in the selected community than in the population
overall. Use the information in the second bullet related to social determinants
of health to help explain why these health issues are more common among
this population.
Select one health
issue that is particularly prevalent in the selected community and
discuss this particular health issue in depth. Be sure to include
information about what the health issue is, how the health issue develops,
what happens to a person who has the health issue, and why the community
you selected is particularly affected by it.
Explain this
community’s health in relation to the levels of prevention (the spectrum
of primary prevention to treatment). Discuss how prevention efforts
and access to quality health care (or the lack thereof)
affect this population’s health.
Discuss how the
structure and coordination of the American health care
system contributes to this health condition among the population. Discuss
how the health care system can/should be altered to support value-based
and coordinated care, ensure there is a viable workforce, and engage
patients and the community to address this health issue.
Discuss future trends
for the community’s health and suggest a strategy for improving the
health of the community based on the four pillars of population health.
Consider what would be the best way to improve the health of the community
from a population health standpoint given what you know about it and
what we learned in class. This strategy should be based on current
research about the community and what the scholarly literature says is the
best way to address this health issue considering the four pillars of
population health.
PHP Part 1: Presentation Screencast
For part 1 of the
assignment, you will create a six- to eight-minute presentation via
a screencast of your PHP project. (Please see the separate
section on Creating Screencast Presentations.)
Your screencast should address each of the bullets in the project
overview above (recommend one slide per bullet).
After
the screencast has been created, you should have a link to
the screencast from the screencast website or it can be
uploaded to a video sharing website, like YouTube or Vimeo. This
is the link you should submit for your assignment, along with the PDF of
your presentation slides and your discussion question. You can
put the link and discussion question in the comments box of the assignment
page in Blackboard. If you do not submit these three things as directed, I
will not accept the assignment and will ask you to resubmit it.
Submission guidelines:
For this assignment
you should submit three things in Blackboard:
a PDF file of your presentation
slides
a web link to your
screencast presentation
a class discussion
question (see Part 2 for details on what this question is)
Include an
introductory slide with your name and title of your presentation.
Do not read directly
from your slides. Include short bullets on slides and expand on them in
what you say.
All information in
your presentation that is quoted or paraphrased from another source must
be cited correctly with in-text citations and on a references slide (you
do not need to say all of the citations during your spoken presentation)
in APA style. You must use at least five scholarly sources other than
the course textbook, which should be included on a references slide at the
end of your presentation.
Please submit the
presentation as both a PDF file of your slides (save your presentation
file as a PDF) along with the web link to your actual “live”
presentation. Large PowerPoint files that have not been converted to a PDF
will not be accepted. Your presentation slides must be converted to a PDF
file and submitted as a document. Converting your slides to a PDF will not
save your presentation/screencast in the file. Your “live”
presentation/screencast should be submitted in the form of a URL link
(e.g. a screencast website or YouTube/Vimeo). Please do not submit MP4 or
other large media files as your screencast. The link to your
presentation and your discussion question will also be posted to BB
for your classmates to view and comment on next week (see PHP
part 2).
