1. Both Isabelle and Vianne take on war-time roles that depart from traditional roles assigned to women during that time period. Talk about what would have been considered “normal” for women in the 1940’s and contrast that with the nontraditional role that each sister plays. You will need to do some research to understand women’s roles in that time period. Be sure to cite the source that you use.
Include specific references from the text to support your response.
Do we still have “traditional” roles and expectations for men and women in the 21st century? What is your perception of those roles today?

Discussion 3 – Third Party Beneficiaries
In the case Does I-IX,Workers in China… v. Walmart Stores in your textbook, some employees of Walmart’s suppliers wanted to sue Walmart for not following up to make sure those suppliers were following local law (as required in their contracts). These employees allege that they were intended third party beneficiaries of those contracts and therefore should be allowed to sue when Walmart “breached” the contracts. The court sided with Walmart saying that these workers were NOT intended third party beneficiaries. In an original post explain why you agree or disagree with the court.
Do you think Walmart should be concerned with the working conditions experienced by the employees in foreign countries in the first place?
Why do you think Walmart puts these requirements in their contracts?
