Diversity at Work

Diversity in organizations, while it has improved in the last 70 years, is still less than ideal. A recent study by the EEOC
(Links to an external site.)
has shown that despite changes in the law, changes in our cultural values and norms, and a wealth of money spent by organizations on training, that harassment based upon our diverse characteristics (sex (including sexual orientation, pregnancy, and gender identity), race, color, national origin, religion, age, disability, and/or genetic information) still happens with far to regular frequency. As a result, the EEOC has developed a training called “Respect in the Workplace” which “incorporate the report’s recommendations on compliance, workplace civility, and bystander intervention training.” The goal of the trainings is to have a real impact on workplace culture.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Tying together what we have learned about organizational and behavioral change, communication, and leadership, discuss in 250-350 words how you would work as a leader in your organization in teaching other to value diversity and treat each other with respect in the workplace. Use at least 3 references (APA) to justify why your actions will be effective

The Connection Between Art and Life

Synopsis:
The course is trying to get you to see yourself as a journalist, because you are. At this point, youve published several stories (or will shortly), and youre ready to shine. Here you pitch an article idea to us in the discussions and then commence on writing a feature article, being sure to write about something youre very interested in, but also being clear about the style or genre of writing youre writing in. You can review a restaurant, a movie, book, or a show; you can write a feature piece on a local or national issue; you can write a news story, going in depth about one story; you can write a more extended op-ed. You can write any other genre out there, as long as its a feature (which really just means its more extensive than a quick story–think magazine length, not newspaper length).

Goals/specifics:
write paper of at approx 2000 words in length (not including works cited page) that you can hand in for me and for your sociology course
Brainstorm for ideas and come up with a purpose for writing.
Use Quotations in your essay, using MLA style: Introduce, Incorporate, and Explain them
The body paragraphs have clear topics/points developed with specific examples and explanation
Provide works cited page, using MLA Style (See Easy Access)

Sentences: Be sure to use sentence variety to improve flow, varying the structure of your sentences. After doing exercises on VERBAL PHRASES, include 4 verbals (underlined), using at least one of each type.
(I will upload files about Verbal Phrases exercise so that you know which type of 4 sentences you need to use)

1. In an interview with the author (http://www.nereview.com/2019/03/04/ella-martinsen-gorham/), she says, The nature of adolescence hasnt changed. Teenagers make mistakes as they learn how to become more independent. But cell phones and the internet are shaping the process, making it all more public. It seems a generation of children growing up today, including my children, consider their phones almost as extensions of their bodies. They are so comfortable with them. They have an instant audience for every gesture and expression.
She continues, I saw that my children and their friends documented much of their lives on the screens of phones and laptops. I began to think of them as inhabiting two worlds: the touchable, physical world and the digital world. They slipped back and forth between them. . . . I was interested in a girl of thirteen navigating the two worlds.
A literary critic also notes that this story is a “critique of modern youth culture and the parents who enable it.” ( https://workshopheretic.blogspot.com/2019/10/what-are-you-virtually-rebelling.html).

As the Civil War came to a close, the nation was torn into regional sections, the North and the South. A major source of division was the cultural way of life. How was the country to survive as one nation if half the population felt that slavery was ok or a “necessary evil” while the other half saw bondage as inhumane, against American values and actually not a good thing for all free working people.?

State Court Jurisdictional Issues

In order for students to demonstrate knowledge of the organization and functions of the American court system, a proper analysis of the jurisdictional limits of small claims, county, and district courts is necessary. While crimes are not prosecuted in small claims, what crimes are fully prosecuted in county or district courts?
Instructions
In a 700-word minimum essay or 10-minute creative presentation please analyze state court jurisdictional issues to include the difference between small claims court, county court and district court (or similar court structures in your state).
Written assignments should be a minimum of 700 words. Creative presentations should be a minimum of 10 minutes and should have some form of speaker notes either embedded (PowerPoint) or attached, as well as a Microsoft Word version of your reference page (or Reference slide).
All assignments should be written in third person/neutral language. Do not use first person language such as “I,” “you,” “we,” “us,” “our,” etc. unless such language is contained in a quote from a scholarly source.
All assignments shall conform to APA formatting. Two sample APA papers are available for your reference in the Syllabus Submodule: Sample APA Papers in the Content area of this course. APA for PowerPoints includes a full “Title Page” slide, proper in-text citations for paraphrased or quoted material on each slide, and a Reference(s) slide.
All assignments in this course should have a minimum of 3 scholarly source (.edu, .gov, .org and/or the class book), quoted and/or paraphrased material from the source, include proper in-text citations and a separate, properly formatted reference page or reference slide.
When you have completed the assignment, save a copy for yourself in an easily accessible place and submit a copy to the Module 2 Assignment 1 folder.
Your assignment will automatically be submitted to Turnitin. PowerPoints can be submitted there, too. You have to hold yourself accountable for any other creative presentation! Everything needs in-text citations and references;
Turnitin is activated for you so review what Turnitin says! If you have to revise your assignment, I will always accept the last assignment you submit subject to any late penalties;
Please note you may have a high Turnitin “plagiarism” ratio SIMPLY because you did not format the in-text citations correctly.
