Leaders are made or broken by the quality of their decisions. Research suggests that most leaders get decision making all wrong. The reason: most businesspeople treat decision making as an event – a discrete choice that takes place at a single point in time. An event leader will mull over reports and ask for advice pertaining only to that event. Making a decision that way is to overlook the larger social and organizational context. Decision making is not an event. It’s a process. It’s a process that unfold over weeks, months, or even years. We will explore how leaders can design and manage an effective decision-making process – And outline a set of criteria processing the quality of the decision-making process.

You will write a paper analyzing a current event or a personal experience related to LIS field from the perspective of social informatics as discussed in class. Use at least 4 resources that I uploaded on my paper.
1.Prepare a 1000-1250-wordreport. Include your rationale for choosing this topic, critical analysis of perspectives of the event selected. Forthis report, you should:
A. Administer a scholarly understanding of thetopic selected.
B. Developa conceptual framework for the discussion of your topic.
C. Do not go so general, you losetrack;nor very specific you cannot elaborate.
D. Provide a conclusion with some implication and ideas for future studies to help informationprofessionals investigatethetopic.
E. Choose a topic you like, a topic you have knowledge about, a topic that interest you. Be creative, think out of the box.
2.Use at least 7references. The bibliography should follow the APA style.

This Stock Forum is where you announce what stock you are choosing. I am giving you $10,000 to purchase stock. You assignment is to choose one US publically traded company’s stock to purchase with your money and use as much of your money as possible to purchase shares of this stock. It must be a US Company on the NY Stock Exchange or NASDQ. May not be a foreign company, a fund, nor an ETF. I will try to check but if I miss it you have the responsibility to make sure your company is a US Company and will lose points when I figure out it is not. Each module will have an assignment related to your stock.
Check this forum before you pick your stock. No duplicate stocks are allowed. First come first serve. If you click the subject they will be in alphabetical order.
Google recent information about a company you are interested in. Find an article that makes you want to own stock in the company you choose. Initially post a thread which in the Subject area lists the name of your stock, the stock symbol, the price per share, the number of shares you were able to buy, in that order. I have posted an example.
In the post give me a live link (I can click on it and go to your article, see instructions under course information) to the recent article ( no older than 1 month before our first class) that you used to choose this company. Give me a short explanation of why you chose your company, citing what information you found about this company from your article. ( three sentences are sufficient. See my example I have posted)

What are near misses? Near misses are often unremarked small failures that permeate day to day business but cause no immediate harm. People are hard wired to misinterpret or ignore the warnings embedded in these failures, and so they often go unexamined. If conditions were to shift these near misses could erupt into chaos and crisis.

Having read Talbots and Poes accounts of early photography, how do their understandings of the truth of photography line up with or differ from your own contemporary ideas about the relationship between photography and truth? How do the films we looked at in module 1 line up with or differ from these notions of pure documentary truth? Please draw directly from the readings in your answer.

Making decision is the most important job of any leader. Its tough and risky. Bad decisions can damage a business and a career, sometimes irreparably. So where do bad decisions come from? They can be traced back to the way the decision were made the alternatives were not clearly defined, the right information was not collected, the costs and benefits were not accurately weighed. Research shows that we use unconscious routines to cope with the complexity inherent in most decisions.

The course materials provide numerous supports for each question and the nature of the question provides options towards meeting the syllabus guidelines. Write the questions below before responding to them using double-spaced and APA formatting.
1. The United States education system has dealt with and continues to deal with tensions related to the pursuit of unity in schooling. Choose one of the following tensions to explain and provide a common example:
a. Maintaining unity while providing liberty
b. Maintaining common values while providing respect for differences

Provide a brief background of the topic and speculate on arguments you could pose or problems you could solve. Additionally, draft a potential problem statement. Pose ideas and solicit feedback from your peers on your ideas.
In your responses, provide your peers with constructive criticism. Identify topics that might seem too broad or too narrow in focus. Identify possible challenges and offer ideas and solutions for improvement.
