Strategic Plan Assignment:
The class discussions and participation in class exercises will provide each person with
considerable experience in developing a strategic plan. As the integrative assignment, you will
be responsible for developing a strategic plan for an organization. You may develop the plan at
the corporate, business unit, or functional level (see textbook discussion regarding levels). As a
general rule, corporate and business unit-level plans work best. If you do not presently work for
an organization, you may select a healthcare organization of your choosing or contact the
instructor who will offer suggestions.
In completing the strategic plan, you should include the following components:
1. An analysis of the organization’s external environment and identification of key
strategic issues facing the leadership. You should explain how the issues logically
connect to the external environmental analysis.
2. A list of the organization’s key stakeholders and the relationship of each to the
organization (why does each stakeholder have a stake in the organization?).
3. Using the value chain as your guide, list the organization’s primary resources,
competencies, and capabilities. Assess each resource, competency, and capability and
identify those that are strategically relevant.
4. Assess your organization’s mission, vision, and values according to the components in
your textbook. Make and defend any suggestions you have for improving these
directional strategies.
5. Based on your assessment of the situation (external, internal, mission, vision, values),
what strategic actions would you recommend to your organization? Be careful to defend
your recommendations based on your situation analysis.

Answer the following in three separate paragraphs:
A. Summarize the history of systemic, internalized privilege and oppression and the negative effects. Include how this has influenced perspectives on diversity and inclusion.

B. Share your perspective about the current beliefs towards one of the target groups mentioned in the chapter.

C.What are two things you can do to make society more inclusive to reflect the diverse society we live in? Please relate this back to the materials in class and current events happening now.

Reviewing secondary sources is important to fully understanding a topic because they reveal what other historians have learned and think about the topic. Secondary sources can help you fill in holes that the primary sources did not reveal or they could be used to give more evidence for what you found in the primary sources.

Comparative Health Issue and Policy Analysis: A Scholarly Paper

This is an opportunity to increase your understanding of an international health issue and how nurse educators can influence improvement of the issue. You will compare an international health issue in the USA and another country.

1. Choose an issue from an international health area.
2. Briefly introduce your topic (3-4 sentences)
3. Include relevant assessment data to the health issue comparison:
Your analysis will address data from both countries in a side-by-side comparison table that you create including:
-Population demographics
-Relevant epidemiologic data
-Key social determinants of health/ socio-cultural data economic-political data
environmental data
-Significant health system data of both countries (national versus private health insurance, availability of care, etc.)
4. Compare and contrast this assessment data in number 3 above and identify:
Similarities and differences
Available resources within the country
**You will be required to create the table above and a narrative summary that details the top disparities between the comparative countries you chose.

5. Compare and contrast 2 Social or Health Policies in each country and discuss the impacts of the health issue disparity (i.e. pick two policies and discuss the similarities/differences between two countries).

Evaluate the adequacy in meeting the goals of the policy in each country (essentially evaluate its effectiveness using data and literature)]
Discuss the adequacy of the policy and the need for policy revision in each country
Discuss how it affects the health issue you have chosen.
6. Conclusions
Discuss what impact Master’s prepared nurse professionals can have on the issue (2-3 paragraphs)
Discuss any resolutions or final thoughts on this issue.

Throughout the fifteen weeks of our course, you will be working toward a two-part research-based project: Part One is a 20-25 page research paper that will contain a minimum of 15 sources. Those 15 sources will be comprised of at least two primary sources, three book, three academic journal/periodical, and two online resources, plus others as you see fit. Of those sources, as well, two of them should be non-textual: an image, graph, chart, diagram. Part Two is a professional level presentation poster/slide that fully summarizes your paper in one large poster that is meticulously prepared and mounted, suitable for display. Following the presentation slide , you will do a 10-minute oral presentation on your paper.

The choice of the subject is mostly entirely yours; however, I will encourage you to discover a subject from within your own college major or program. As well, we will discuss as a class your subject and suggest what we may think is a strong subject choice. Among the goals of this assignment is the opportunity to begin exploring the writing in your field; the paper you produce may then be a practical activity that you may continue to work with and build upon as you progress in your major.

Your subject should be argumentative (refutation, stance, or problem/solution), with a strong element of analytical proof.
