Argumentative Essay (Outline) Assignment For this assignment you are not required to write a complete draft of your Argument Essay. Instead, you are to select a topic for your Argument Essay and write a detailed outline of your essay based on the model below.
Argument Essay Prompts
In this assignment choose a specific issue in which two credible parties have documented the following:
• Clearly opposing positions, and
• Clear agendas.
Choose the position you agree with and argue that position using:
• Three separate lines of reasoning to support your position
• Research to support each line of reasoning (example, testimony, and fact/data, or any combination) that supports your position

Final Draft Essay Requirements

Writing Tip #1
This Argument Essay is a Classical Argument Essay aimed at both arguing the author’s thesis and refuting the opponent’s thesis. It is NOT a Persuasive Essay, where the purpose is to persuade without necessarily arguing against an opposing perspective. The difference is that an argument essay tries both to persuade and refute against an opposing view.
With this in mind, you should not choose a generic issue that has no credible opposing view – like “energy conservation” – for a Classical Argument essay. One can try to write a persuasive essay that makes an appeal to a reader to conserve energy. But unless you can find a credible opponent with an active agenda opposing your appeal (“We should NOT conserve energy”), then you cannot write a Classical Argument essay.
Writing Tip #2
It can be helpful to look into current legislation under debate everywhere from your city council, state legislature or even at the federal level. But be careful with large issues. Students often like to take them on, but they can be too unwieldy for a short assignment like this.
Writing Your Argument Essay
To get started writing your essay:
1. Review What is an Essay?
2. Take time to review possible subjects.
3. Use prewriting to help you narrow your topic.
Remember that “story starters” are everywhere. Think about issues that come up in status updates or “likes” on social media. What issues are being debated in student forums on your campus? What are the headlines in the college paper? Your local television news or newspaper website? Your topic may be closer than you think!

Risk and procurement have become mission critical aspects of running a business. Supply chains, financial instability, and other global issues have resulted in managers having to become more resilient, forward thinking, and creative in identifying potential risks but, more acutely, where and how they will acquire the necessary material and human
resources to complete a project. Use this assignment to complete your group project’s risk and procurement section of your project plan, paying close attention to current events and how they may affect your project.

Teams will work to compile all of the project plan components together into a
single final cohesive project plan. As described in the project description in Week 1, the
project plans will address all of the 5 process groups and the 10 knowledge areas

In Module Six, you have explored logistical and cultural considerations for managing diverse teams. In this assignment, you will apply what you have learned by analyzing a case study to draw conclusions about corporate social responsibility in an international context.
Prompt
Read the case study Apple and Its Suppliers: Corporate Social Responsibility, taking careful note of examples and explanations of Apple’s views on corporate social responsibility, countries involved in the supply chain, and whom the public held responsible for the ethical violations.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Key Points: Briefly summarize key points that the case raises, such as who was involved; key problems and concerns identified; and questions about corporate social responsibility, public opinion, and/or international business.
Corporate Social Responsibility: Explain how corporate social responsibility, specifically related to employee treatment, is important to a business.
Public Opinion: Explain how the media and public opinion influenced the situation and what lessons a business practitioner can learn from Apple’s experience with how the media and the public can impact business.
International Business: The case states that although the concerns regarding poor employee treatment were related to events at manufacturing facilities such as Foxconn and Pegatron, the concerns regarding corporate social responsibility fell to Apple. Explain what this can teach business professionals about international business and supply chain management.
Labor Practices: Compare the advantages and disadvantages of commonly used labor practices in international business.
The Road Ahead: The end of the case raises a few questions regarding how Apple should proceed. On the basis of what you have learned in this module and throughout the course, explain how you think Apple should have proceeded following the incident outlined in the case and why. Make sure to use evidence from the course and/or external resources to support your response.

Additional information that may be helpful:
Effects: While not all topics will have effects on each (plants, animals and humans), it should at least be noted that research shows that they are not affected for full credit.
Current Intervention: You should include some evidence-based interventions (i.e., peer-reviewed, documented empirical evidence of effectiveness) when describing the current interventions used for your topics. Literature reviews are a good place to start.
Own Intervention: Your designed intervention could include evidence-based strategies to intervene, but you may also include an original thought or proposal. The main goal is to show that you have thoroughly researched the topic and explain how your designed intervention would make a difference to the population selected.
