GE ALO 2 Examine how creative works of human expression outside the United States have influenced the United States’ cultures.

For this project, you will research BEER and how it is common to many cultures. You will present a history of BEER from an anthropological/historical point of view. For BEER, you will describe traditional uses in the cultures where it is used, including symbolic uses of BEER, historical importance, and any restrictions on the use of BEER. You will also discuss changing uses of BEER in the modern world due to immigration and globalization.

The paper will be a minimum of 4-5 pages in length (1000-1250 words), double-spaced, and must include a list of at least 4 references in APA format. Please follow other writing guidelines as specified in the syllabus. 3. Provide a brief introduction at the beginning of your assignment. In your introduction:

• Define any key concept(s) that the reader should know.

4. Provide a discussion of whether you agree (i.e., think that the advice is good) or disagree with your chosen advice (i.e., think that the advice is bad).
• It is up to you which you choose. Alternatively, you can have a mixed opinion of the advice (i.e., think that it is both good and bad).
In your discussion, you must:
• Clearly state your position on the advice
• Support your position by reviewing at least two original, empirical, scholarly
journal articles that provide relevant evidence.
o Be sure to provide a brief summary of the relevant information from the
articles.
• Explain why you trust the evidence that you have reviewed.

Examples:

This is just an example. The main point is that you should aim to choose articles that provide good evidence that supports your position.

1. What does the level of a nation’s GDP measure? What does the growth rate of GDP measure? Would you rather live in a nation with a high level of GDP and a low growth rate or in a nation with a low level of GDP and a high growth rate?

2. Plot the rate of Productivity Growth as the percent change from a year ago of Real Output per Hour in the Manufacturing Sector (FRED code: OPHMFG).

Describe the performance of Productivity during the financial crisis of 2007-2009 (denoted in the FRED graph by vertical gray bars) compared to previous decades.

Previous chapters have examined the factors that determine the level and growth of a country’s standard of living. Just as a country that saves and invests a significant proportion of its income can rapidly grow its capital stock, GDP and hence its standard of living, so can a country also raise its standard of living by keeping unemployment at reasonable levels. Clearly, people who are unemployed cannot contribute to the economy’s production of goods and services. A country is likely to achieve a higher level of GDP than not, if it manages to keep its workers as fully employed as possible.
