The Implications of Criminal & Credit Checks

1. Given that which we know about the limitations in the reliability of criminal background checks, do you still agree with their use as a screening tool for hiring purposes? What are your thoughts on the disparate impact discrimination concern resulting from correlations between criminal records and protected classes such as race? Are the EEOC’s guidelines in response to this issue adequate recourse? Why or why not?

2. Given the discord among states about the propriety of credit checks, what are your thoughts on their use? Do they have the potential to create ‘self-fulfilling prophecies’ of the kind to which this week’s lesson alluded? Why or why not?

– The table of evidence needs to be completed. Please see the sample paper. (you can use the sample paper’s chart to fill in if you want.)
– Theory / Conceptual Model (CM)Theory / Conceptual Model (CM) IS completed.
– ROL Results & Thematic Synthesis, ROL Results , Thematic Synthesis, and ROL Summary need to be completed.
– Related Social Determinates of Health (SDOH) IS completed

The Comps paper is the culminating work of students earning a master’s degree. It is expected to be comprehensive and scholarly. Students are expected to conduct a scholarly review of the literature (ROL) in order to identify the state of nursing or healthcare science on the topic of interest. The paper will be evaluated with the following:
a) Creation of a PRISMA diagram showing the ROL steps (identification, screening, eligibility, and included)
b) “Included” step in the ROL: 20 to 30 articles
c) Development of a Table of Evidence with the “Included” ROL articles (to be placed as an appendix).
d) Length of paper: at least 20 pages but not more than 30 pages of text, excluding the title page, references, and appendices.
e) Correct APA 7th edition format with good paragraph form, punctuation, grammar, and spelling is expected. Other formats are acceptable only if required by a specific journal when a publishable paper is the outcome of choice.

policy impact/healthcare narrative review

The interviewee must be someone who has had health problems, or works with someone with health problems that impact their life expectations. Ideally, the health concerns will be related to your own interests for the Final Policy Memo and may provide more insight into the problems at hand. The interviewee may be a family member, but not the student themselves! If you choose to interview a patient, do not violate any HIPAA policies or collect any protected health information (PHI). And if you choose to interview someone under 18, parents must be present during the interview and questions may be reworded as needed to be age appropriate for the child or parent.

Due to the nature of interviewing, the interview content may use informal phrases and be written in first or third person, at the student’s discretion.
