OVERVIEW
In this Module: Week, you will demonstrate your knowledge of preparing and collecting case
study (evidence) data. The overview used the term process as you will not only develop a case
study protocol and explain the use of pilot studies, but dive into the sources of data, and how to
comprehensively collect and care for your study’s data. Finally, you will scratch the surface of
the first type – Exploratory Case Study.

INSTRUCTIONS
After reviewing the Learn material for the Module: Week, address the following paper in current
APA format:
1. Develop Case Study protocol as it relates to describing how to screen candidate cases and
select final cases
2. Explain why, when, and how to use pilot case studies
3. Describe and triangulate the six sources of evidence
4. Explain the purpose and requirements of a comprehensive case study database (consider from
raw data to final conclusion and the reader may need access to all data to draw their own
conclusions)
5. Draft an Exploratory Case Study Model that determines whether a topic is worthy of further
investigation and serve as a prelude to a survey or experiment (use Yin’s (2018) Application #1
[p. 66] as a template

The assignment should be submitted in the following format:

Each answer should be 2 pages in length and should have a clear thesis statement. The thesis statement is the last sentence in the first paragraph that summarizes your position. Your answer should end with a quote that supports the thesis.

Ethical decision-making is extremely important for the athletic manager of the 21st Century. Having prospective sport managers and sport coaches/trainers practice “simulated management decision-making scenarios” is one method suggested to help develop future leaders. Using the ESPN 30 for 30 Fantastic Lies and the flow chart/framework by Bridges and Roquemore, respond to the following essay questions.
1. Leaders and managers get paid to solve problems and make decisions. After watching the 30 for 30 Fantastic Lies, use the following framework to identify the problem and what you would do if you were the leader. Your answer should include an introductory paragraph and a conclusion that supports your thesis. The thesis should be the last sentence of the first paragraph the summarizes what you paper is about. The conclusion paragraph should include a quote that supports your thesis statement. The body of the essay should be comprised of the following:
• Problem – What is the problem?
• Cause – What caused the problem?
• Consequence – What is the consequence if nothing is done?
• Solution – What are your proposed solutions?
• Action – What action should be taken?
2. Utility, Right, Justice and Intent are key pieces of the Ethical Framework presented by Bridges and Roquemore. Using those key pieces as a filter, discuss each as it relates to the Duke Lacrosse Case found in the 30 for 30 Fantastic Lies. Your answer should include an introductory paragraph (again with a thesis statement) and a conclusion with a quote that supports your thesis. The body of the essay should be comprised of the following:

• Utility – How could the legal system and/or Duke maximized benefits for all involved?
• Rights – Did the legal system/Duke respect the rights of the individuals involved? What about the rights of the team?
• Justice – Was the action fair? Did the punishment fit the crime?
• Intent – Was there any element of prejudice by the legal system or Duke? If so, what was it and
how did it impact those involved?

Imagine you are part of a small team. Your team is composed of specialists who have been called in by the board of the company of your choosing to conduct a CSR analysis of this company that is dealing with a current social issue. (See Appendix 1 ideas of suitable companies and possible social issues.)
As a group you will select a company or brand to assess how well the company is doing in terms of its CSR. Through research and analysis, you will evaluate the company CSR approach including comparing it to its competitors. You will then provide recommendations for the future, based on the information you researched.
You have the choice to select a topic of your choice as a team. Each group will have a unique company/issue. Company/issue will be reserved for your group on a ‘first come first serve’ basis. Hence, you must inform you course director regarding your choice as soon as you select the project topic. The same company/issue will not be allocated to two groups.

• Your total report should be a MS Word document and adhere to specified word limits. Up to an additional 10 pages of appendix materials may be attached if you think it necessary, but the assignment should be written to stand alone from the appendix.
• The report will be single spaced, using Times New Roman font 12, headings of font 14, bold and sub headings of font 11, bold. Send the report in MS Word format as a .docx document.
• Project marks will be awarded on the quality of the contents of the project and not just for following the format given by the instructor.

Part 1: Write 3 paragraphs.
In the first paragraph, identify the person or event you have selected to memorialize. Explain why you feel it important to memorialize them.
In the second paragraph, describe your approach to memorializing your subject—what do you plan to make/do. Explain why you think this approach is appropriate for the topic.
In the third paragraph, sketch out your plan to complete this project successfully. When are you going to make time to work on it? When are you going to do your research? Do you think you need to work with a librarian or a tutor on the research element? What else might you need to consider?

Part 2: Bibliography.
List at least three sources appropriate for a college level class that you will use to research your subject. No Wikipedia or Encyclopedia Britannica. Remember you can go to Library for help with the research.
Cite them using MLA or Chicago Manual of Style.

For this assignment, you would develop an annotated Bibliography. An annotated bibliography is a reference list with a short summary after each source that explains the key points, why it is relevant to your argument, and how it relates to the other sources in your reference list. You will complete this assignment with the same problem you chose for your topic proposal. You will then use the sources you summarize in this assignment for the final writing assignment, the Problem/Solution Essay. The structure of this assignment is not an essay but rather a list of reference citations with summaries in paragraph format after each citation.
Your purpose is to help your targeted audience understand the various sources that you prepare, addressing:

The problem that you are researching.
The causes of the problem.
The effects of the problem specifically which people are affected?
Possible solutions to solve the problem. Focus on resources that are needed to develop and implement these solutions.

Requirements for each entry in the Annotated Bibliography

APA reference citation of each source.
Alphabetically order the sources according to the authors’ last name (A-Z). For example, entry with authors “Adams” should appear before an entry with the author “Zuri”.
Summary of the source:
Paraphrase and write in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste sentences.
Evaluation of the source:
How and where will this source be used? What “function” does this source perform? Why is it useful for your research? Is it a specific illustration of the cause(s) and/or effect(s) of the problem? Is it a possible solution to the problem? Is it a solution that you might argue for?
Connection to other sources:
How is this source similar to or different from other sources? What connections are there between sources A and B. Are they connected because they show different causes or effects of the problem? Are they connected because they all support the same solution? Are they connected because they provide different solutions with different evidence?
To summarize, each entry must contain:

APA reference citation of the source;
Summary of the source;
Evaluation of the source;
Connection to other source(s)

Students are required to submit an “Integrated Marketing Communications Plan” which is
related to your own experience as the individual assignment. This report should reflect on what
you have learned in class. Students can select a branded product or service as the core subject
of discussion. You are expected to apply the marketing theories, models and framework (like marketing 8p model, swot, STP, competitors/market analysis) that you have learned to analyse the market landscape and/or marketing mix and prepare the
integrated marketing communication plan for the chosen product or service.

This written report should be around 800 – 1000 words, excluding appendix, diagrams, figures,
tables and references. It should be presented in A4-size paper and typed in font size 12 with
clear headlines and sections. Students can make use of the appendix to supplement relevant
information and details. Students are required to make a submission through Turnitin to check
for potential or suspected plagiarism

This assignment is an opportunity to pause at this juncture; to reflect on where you have been as you anticipate the next step in the journey ahead.

Think back on everything you have experienced in your study of architecture, especially in the past year, and compose a 1-2 page (500 word minimum and 1,000 word maximum) manifesto clearly explaining your response to the following questions:
