Part 1
After reading about Margaret in Chapter 3 of the Weber text consider and respond to the following:
If we were to give Margaret a physical disability, how might that added challenge/lens effect Margaret’s situation?
Would that change how Margaret viewed her own situation, and with whom she would place blame?
How would that change society’s perception of her?
Your original post is due by 11:59 pm on Wednesday. Include in-text citations in APA format to make clear where you are directly or indirectly drawing information to inform your response. Part 2
please use these headings in bold print to organize and structure your weekly journals):
Reflection of the Course Readings: Discuss something new you learned or found interesting in the text readings for the week. You may also discuss information that was confusing or difficult to understand. Include your personal feelings or reactions to the readings and how you are managing those feelings or reactions. If you can, relate the readings to personal experiences you have had, but do not include any identifying information of others.
Reflection of the Course Materials: Discuss the additional course materials for the week, such as any activities or video clips. Again, discuss something new you learned or found interesting and identify anything you found confusing or difficult. Include your personal feelings or reactions to class materials and how you are managing those feelings or reactions. If you can, relate the materials to personal experiences you’ve had. In addition, evaluate (if relevant) how you and your fellow students responded to one another in your discussion post and responses.
Guided Reflection Question: Though controversial, the claim is often made that only white people can be racist (People of color can have bias and discriminatory beliefs/practices, but since they lack institutional power, it is believed they cannot be racist). When you examine the five faces of oppression (exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural imperialism, and violence), do you feel that people of color can/possess the power to be racist against white people? Why or why not?
Your responses should be thoughtful and analytical, not just a summary of the readings or class events. Your entries should be proof read and free of grammatical and spelling errors. Points will be deducted if journals are submitted that are poorly written. This is a 300-level college course – the expectation is that both your writing and analytical skills reflect that. Journals must be two full pages double-spaced, 12-point font.please use these headings in bold print to organize and structure your weekly journals):
