PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE:

This paper is different from the first two research papers. You will not need to research! This paper does not require a reference page or internal citations. However, it still needs to be written in APA format, inclusive of a title page and minimum of 3 pages of content.

In this paper, you will select a movie or tv show that portrays an individual with a psychological disorder. You will watch the movie or tv show and write a profile of disorder for the character. Below is a list of tv shows and/or movies that might ignite some thought. You are welcome to choose something that is not on my list. However, if you do, you just need to run it by me in advance.
Within the body of your profile, you need to include the following information:
What did you choose to watch and why?
What are the main symptoms and/or behaviors exhibited by the character you are examining?
Do you believe that these symptoms are considered pathological and diagnosable? Why or why not?
What about this person’s behavior do you find to be most concerning?
Is this person utilizing coping mechanisms, whether they be healthy or not? If they are utilizing unhealthy or unproductive coping mechanisms, what would you recommend in replacement?
If this person is committing crimes or hurting others, do you believe that they are a “preferential” offender or a “garden variety” offender? What has aided you in attaining this conclusion?
preferential: tends to have a “type of victim.” The victim generally possesses a very specific set of characteristics.
garden variety: tends to be more opportunistic in offenses. Sample of victims tends to be more based on opportunity and accessibility devoid of possessing specific characteristics. Victims tend to be more randomized.
If this person is not committing crimes or hurting others, what behaviors would you consider to be maladaptive? Specifically, what behaviors are making it difficult for them to integrate into mainstream society?
If you were the diagnosing professional, what disorder or combination of disorders would you ascribe to the character you are profiling and why? For this, please feel free to use the DSM that I have loaded on your modules page.
As the diagnosing professional, what might be the etiology or contributing factors causing the disorder(s)?
As the diagnosing professional, what treatments might you recommend, and why?
If you were the treating psychiatrist, what medication or combination of medications might you prescribe if any in an effort to help this individual?
