(14) The Prague Spring: In August, 1968, the USSR, the Soviet Union sent its Red Army tanks into Czechoslovakia to crush what was called the ″Prague Spring.″ What was the Prague Spring? Why was it so crucial, so important for the USSR to crush it? What has been the lasting effect of the crushing of the Prague Spring? (An eye witness to The Prague Spring, Milan Kundera, a Czech novelist, remembered the Prague Spring in his novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1984) which in 1988 became an excellent film starring Daniel Day-Lewis–who would later collect three Academy Awards as Best Actor for his work in other films.)
Thesis statement
What the Prague Spring was is that the government of Czechoslovakia led by Alexander Dubček seemingly wanted to democratise the nation of Russia. The reason why it was so important for the USSR to crush the Prague Spring was because the Soviet Union led Warsaw Pact troops in an invasion of Czechoslovakia to crack down on reformist tendencies in Prague. The lasting effect of the crushing of the Prague Spring was that it created deep resentment in Czechoslovakia against the USSR, which contributed to later demands for independence.
The eight page research paper is worth 100 points. I divide those points into sections. 33% for proper in-text citations; 33% for the works cited; and 34% for the formatting of the top-left corner, the title, the writing of the first paragraph and the thesis statement; the paragraphing throughout the paper and proper English; other formatting, such as headers and double spacing.
I do NOT grade your opinion. I only grade how well you follow the MLA formatting instructions, and basic English grammar rules, including sentence structure, avoiding FANBOYS errors, comma splices, run-ons, and FRAGMENTS. I also expect you to avoid errors in the use of the apostrophe.
Follow the formatting that is presented in the model MLA sample research paper. I will look most closely at the first paragraph, especially the thesis statement, your paragraphing throughout the research paper, your citations, and your works cited page. I want to be sure that you have NOT plagiarized your research paper. If you present a paper that with paragraphs that go on and on and on, with no or few citations, I will know that you have plagiarized.
MLA Citation: In-Text Citations (or Parenthetical Citations)
