Blog Scenario
For this project, you are a chief medical officer (CMO) at a hospital. You have a working group made up of hospital leadership that have been tasked with implementing a special quality project focused on medical errors. You are working with this group to launch the concept and educate the clinicians. Prepare your speech that will be delivered to clinicians and other internal stakeholders during a morning grand rounds session.
Your number one priority, over the next five years, is to significantly decrease the number of preventable medical errors that occur in the hospital. In essence, you are attempting to inspire your audience to commit to the cause and do what it takes to achieve the goal. Having said that, the tone must be appropriate for your audience and the topic itself which can be highly controversial.
You will need to conduct research on medical errors for your speech. You may decide to focus on one type of medical error (medication, falls, wrong site surgery, hospital acquired infections, etc.). Some resources have been provided below; however, they only provide you with a starting point.
Your speech must include a strategic approach that is based upon best practices. You should describe how you will operationalize the approach within your hospital. You may want to review learning from past classes such as Strategic Management (HAP 705) to identify a framework (benchmarks, timelines, measurement tools, etc.). Also, materials from HAP 711 (Quality Improvement in Health Services) may provide some information and sources. Include a list of references. Here are some considerations:
What role did ethics and professional accountability play in your decision to tackle preventable medical errors?
What strategy will you use to achieve change? What tools will you use to operationalize your plan?
How can your audience of clinicians actively support your vision?
How can you inspire others to follow your vision; or, will you mandate compliance?
How will you measure success?
Key: How will you address the relevant competencies? Consider:
Leadership: In your role play as a CMO of a hospital, create a strategic plan that reflects best practices and focus on physician organization alignment to successfully attain the goals.
Personal and Professional Accountability: Advocate for acting in accordance with professional and ethical norms; and, explain how personal accountability plays a role in being committed to decreasing medical errors.
Professional and Business Ethics: Demonstrate high standards of personal and professional responsibility and accountability through your communication style.

Thesis and Bibliography of the Term Paper
Instructions:
Analyze the style of a work of art and the historical context in which it was created. how the artist achieves the final composition by carefully detailing how s/he utilizes the “formal” elements of the work (i.e. color, composition, shapes or forms, line or contour, mass and volume, light, texture, depth, balance, etc.) and how these elements work together to create the final composition as well as to shape the content and meaning. (Refer to Barnet’s A Short Guide to Writing About Art for details.) Integrate this analysis of the style with information from secondary sources. This information from sources must be: (1) paraphrased in your own words and (2) properly cited (in MLA (Links to an external site.) or Chicago format). No direct quotations from secondary sources should be used unless they are properly introduced and discussed.
This paper will be graded on:
How well you follow the instructions specified on this sheet.
How well you follow the guidelines in A Short Guide to Writing About Art and these instructions.
How well you demonstrate a college-level standard in format, information, and style of presentation.
How do they differ? How are they similar? Which one is more “effective and why”?
The discussion board post assignments differ from the Blog assignments because you should not need to conduct any outside research to draft the discussion board post. Simply use the assigned reading.
Review the Community Guide and the Community Guide in Action reading with a focus on preventing diabetes.

Exploration of Space
Projects:
While the discussions and take-home exam assignments will probe the breadth of your knowledge and understanding of space exploration, the project component will be your change to go into greater depth on a particular topic that interests you. You can either choose something we’ve discussed in class (e.g. space colonization, the search for life beyond Earth) or something you think we should discuss in class but haven’t (e.g. space programs of up-and-coming nations like India) to study in greater depth. Then you should write a well-researched 5-page paper (1 1/2 spaced, in an 11 or 12 point font, and the page limit does not include images, footnotes or bibliography) in which you examine how your chosen issue either has or will influence our species’ potential for exploration beyond our home world.
When you write up your project, you should be imagining that your reader is a fellow student in the Exploration of Space. I will be grading your project based not only on its accuracy and insightfulness, but also on its pedagogical effectiveness – that is, its potential for inclusion among the required readings for this class in future semesters. You will be seeing several outstanding examples of student projects from previous semesters among your readings this term, so you’ll get a sense of what my standards are.
See “How You Will Be Evaluated” below to find out how my grading system works, and when the due dates will be for your exams and projects.
IF YOU INCLUDE IMAGES PLEASE ADD THEM AT THE END DON’T USE THEM WITHIN THE FIVE PAGES PLEASE
NO PLAGARIZING ACCEPTED AT ALL BUT RELATIVELY EASY ASSIGNMENT.
