How nurses use models to make clinical judgments

OVERVIEW

In addition to a code of ethics that protects the health and wellness of clients, the nursing profession is built on mentoring relationships that nurture intergenerational knowledge production, support the hands-on transfer of learning, and innovate best practices for patients and practitioners. In this assignment, you will prepare a short presentation for the hypothetical cohort of ADN students you will be mentoring over the course of this semester.

What are some of the current interpretations for how this object may have been used?

British Museum article: The Lion Man: an Ice Age masterpiece
Discover article: What Happened to Turkey’s Ancient Utopia?
Because the prehistoric world leaves us no written documents, scholars are left to speculate about the use and meaning of visual images and objects from this period. One thing that appears clear is that ancient humans may not have seen a sharp divide between the natural world and the human world, and many paleolithic images seem to explore this theme. Expect to write at least a paragraph for each of your answers. If you are trying for a solid “B” your answer should be at least a full double spaced page, if you are trying to earn an “A”, expect to write two full double-spaced pages.

1. For your Learning Log, begin with the example of the Lion Man (or Lion Human). What are some of the current interpretations for how this object may have been used? What have scholars learned by subjecting it to analysis? You should rely on the information contained in the outside reading for your answer, but instead of quoting directly, try to put the answer in your own words. NOTE: There is no need to include a formal citation for the website, you can just say in the body of your text, “According to the British Museum…” or something like that.

2. Compare the Seated Woman of Çatalhöyük to the Woman from Willendorf (Paleolithic Period). How do these two works illustrate the differences between societies in the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods? USE SPECIFIC VISUAL DETAILS

IN YOUR ANSWER.
Next, turn your attention to the supplementary reading from Discover Magazine.

3. Why have the recently concluded excavations at Çatalhöyük led some to describe it as a “utopian” society? How is this suggested by the built environment the architects of Çatalhöyük constructed? How does their architecture reflect their social order? YOU MUST USE A DIRECT QUOTATION IN YOUR ANSWER.

How could you use the readings for this unit to support Cardi B’s claim that she’s “just trying to help the world” with “Cheap Ass Weave” and “Bongos”?

Answer all of the questions below. Please include at least 1 direct citation from a course reading and 1 direct citation from a song in each answer.

1. Discuss Nadia Brown and Lisa Young’s concept of ratchet politics.
a. How do Brown and Young define “ratchet politics”? Give at least 2 examples of ratchet politics in the news over the past 2 months.
b. How does Cardi B critique ratchet politics? Why, according to Raquel Moreira, is Cardi’s “hoodmade” critique important for feminists to take seriously?

2. “Some women don’t want to have sex during pregnancy, and that’s OK. Some women do want to have sex during pregnancy, and that’s OK, too. What needs to stop is society telling women what they can and cannot do with their bodies. Pregnant women are not faceless, identity-less vessels of reproduction.”

a. Comment on the above quote from Sofia Jawed-Wassel’s lecture. What are some societal judgments that are particular to Black pregnant women, according to Lisa Rosenthal and Marci Lobel? How does Cardi B’s performance of “Wild Side” in the music video on Instagram push against misogynoir perceptions of pregnant people?

3. “The overall importance of hair to general body-image was highlighted repeatedly in the focus groups as being of great importance to Black women. It emerged as the most frequent and important body image domain for women. One participant reported that her hair influenced her self-confidence as a whole: ‘when your hair is right, you just have better confidence in yourself and it’s just a big thing for the hair to be straight. And not like straight as in texture but just like right.’”
Germaine Awad’s article (quoted above) focuses on 3 elements that demonstrate the overall importance of hair to Black women: microaggressions, sacrifice, and pride related to hair.
a. Give examples of all 3 from Awad’s article. Taken together, what do these examples suggest the personal and political importance of Black women’s hair?
b. How do societal judgements about body hair also affect Black women’s body image?
c. Given the importance of hair to Black women, why do you think Cardi B chose to make a comic song about weaves and a video with comic depictions of body hair? How could you use the readings for this unit to support Cardi B’s claim that she’s “just trying to help the world” with “Cheap Ass Weave” and “Bongos”?

Explain to Mary how and why she must correct her immediate problem with account receivables if she hopes to get financing in the future.

The team is looking at the way Mary deals with money. Their observation of the company is that Mary is not in really bad financial shape despite all of the downsizing she has done in the last three years. Mary’s debt load is small but her accounts receivable is high. She does seem to have money to pay her bills and make a profit but growth is not realistic. Since one of the major purposes of this report is to give Mary recommendations on how to put her company in a position to grow, it might be best to help Mary with ways to improve her cash management flow and how it will relate to financing. Also, you think that this is an area where growth must be considered carefully.

Directions:

1. By Saturday, complete the following:

-Create Part Four of the report entitled: “Money Management”.

-Research the best tips for managing cash flow and create a checklist for Mary to use in the future.

-Try not to just pick the most common ideas; look for those that are different as well.

Explain to Mary how and why she must correct her immediate problem with account receivables if she hopes to get financing in the future.

-Create a table that describes all the ways small business owners can obtain financing. In the column section, use the following headings: description of the finance type, who can benefit most from this type of financing, and recommendation. The rows will contain various types of financing possible for Mary. Explain to Mary that you have started the table for her but she should carefully examine the recommendations the firm has made to see if they work for her in light of her plans to grow.

-Include a table and 1-3 paragraph explanation

-You must use course material to support your responses and APA in-text citations with a reference list.

How is Wordsworth commenting on the language of poetry in “Michael”?

Topic Prompt: Wordsworth’s purpose in his “Preface” to Lyrical Ballads is to explain and defend his approach to poetry. Using “Michael,” explain and analyze Wordsworth’s stance in Lyrical Ballads.

Example: In his “Preface,” Wordsworth makes a statement about the language of poetry. If you planned to quote and then address that as your theme/central idea, you would ask yourself: How is Wordsworth commenting on the language of poetry in “Michael”? Your answer would be your thesis statement for this analysis.

You must quote from “Preface” at least once
you must quote from “Michael” at least once
You must quote from this article by Joshua Ware at least twice.

Because space is limited, you must quickly assert your thesis and then be highly selective in the passages you choose to support your points; direct textual evidence must be included and cited to prove your observations and assertions. Your response should indicate not only that you read the material, but also that you comprehended and appreciated the author’s greater message.

for work cited page All three entries should be alphabetized and in MLA formatting.

This should not be a summary of the work, but rather an in-depth response to and analysis of one or several of the text’s relevant aspects.
