Critical Assignment Overview: The purpose of the critical assignment is to create a historical moment paper that reviews an ethical communications situation. In this assignment, students will select a cultural or societal issue in society (at any point in time) and discuss the ethical or unethical communication that was related to the issue. The paper will be completed using specific directions below and be submitted in APA format and style. Students will use assigned readings, lectures and videos to complete the case studies.
Critical Assignment Instructions Final Essay – Historical Moment Paper A major theme in the text and class is that ethical communication is critical at this moment in human history. This paper consists of 2 parts and should be at least 8 pages in length.
Part 1: In Part 1 of this paper you are to…
1) Research and describe an issue or problem that you consider of major important at this historical moment.
2) Include a discussion of key communication factors of this issue or problem.
3) Apply concepts and theories from the communication courses you have completed or are currently taking.
Part 2: Part 2 builds upon Part 1. You add the following:

We learned this week that ability and personality are factors that impact employee and team performance. We also discussed ways that knowledge is transferred to employees and how that information can be used to better inform decision-making.
Another important factor that influences performance is motivation.
Discuss how managers can effectively motivate employees, individually and in teams, to meet goals.
Provide practical examples from research, and explain how and why they would be motivational.
Include factors that you feel are relevant, for example, perhaps the abilities and personalities of co-workers, and justify your rationale for why they matter using outside sources.

This week we learned to translate complex sentences with particular emphasis on correctly expressing the meaning of the sentence in a well-formed formula. For your initial post, address the following:
Give an example of task that you might be given at work or at home that, using the skills from the lecture given this week, could be interpreted in more than one way.
State at least two alternate meanings of the request.
Translate each of the competing requests using standard symbolic form, keeping in mind that you must use a Well-Formed Formula, making sure that each simple statement is defined as a unique single letter and that parentheses are properly placed.
For your reply, discuss how you could determine which of the original poster’s meaning is correct and that best satisfies the conditions of the original task be requested. If you believe there is an error in your classmate’s translation, attempt to work together to revise the symbolic form.
