Tort Law – Assignment

Please refer to the case summary below.
Summarize briefly the facts and the decision of the court. I am looking especially for you to deal with and discuss the issues raised under the headings “Critical Thinking” and “Ethical Decision Making” at the end of the case summary together with whatever other thoughts the case raises for you.
As you may have seen from your reading in other instances, the text presents this case as a “legal brief”–that is, an outline or summary of the case. I think you will find that it is a lot easier than reading the judge’s opinion verbatim as you did in last week. The point of a “brief” is to boil it all down, so to speak. One major job of a lawyer is to analyze judicial opinions and get to the heart of the issue and reasoning employed. Every case has a facts, reasoning, a rule and a result in addition to contrasting arguments or points of view presented.

letter to the Legislator

The Letter to Legislator Assignment is worth 13% of the course grade.
Visit your state or national ANA website or other state/federal legislative site and search for CURRENT health care policy issues and bills. Write a letter in the form of an email to your legislator, specific to a CURRENT piece of legislation and provide reasoning regarding how this issue will impact your ability to provide care to patients in your practice, your support or opposition for this issue, how this issue will impact health care, financing, etc. Determine if the issue should be directed to a state or federal legislator…this is to whom you should address your letter. Be cognizant that if writing a Senator, you should be referencing a Senate bill or if writing a Congressperson, you should be referencing a House bill. This is the case for both federal as well as state legislators.
The letter should include 3 facts to support your discussion. You state the resource such as “According to the CDC, …” APA format is not used–there should not be intext citations or a reference page. Simply state the source of the information with the fact.
Refer to the Additional Resources in this Module on how to write a letter as well as tips for writing a letter in an email to a legislator. Refer back to Module 4: Lecture Materials –Nursing Licensure and Regulation
Please refer to the grading rubric ‘Letter to Legislator Grading Rubric’ as you write your letter. The rubric can be found in the syllabus.
**Please put the URL/Link to the bill from the website you used to identify the bill in a comment for this assignment. This will allow your faculty to verify that the bill is current and identify the appropriate legislator.

ADHD case study

Frankie is a 9-year-old boy who, according to his teacher, is constantly “into everything.” He keeps the class in an uproar and has been suspended from school three times this year, most recently for swinging from a light fixture. He wanders around the classroom talking to all the children. So, not only does Frankie not accomplish his work, the other students cannot complete their work. Frankie’s mother reports that Frankie’s behavior has been difficult since he was a toddler when he became unbearably restless and demanding. He slept very little and “got into everything.” When he was 4 years old, he was rejected by a preschool because of his difficult behavior. He has few friends because he is unable to participate in fair play. He is unable to watch TV or participate in games that require quiet concentration. His activities at home essentially include riding his bike or playing outdoors with his dog. His room stays messy, and he is destructive of his possessions. The psychiatrist admits Frankie to the child psychiatric unit with a diagnosis of ADHD. He orders the initiation of therapy with
methylphenidate (Ritalin).

Design a nursing plan of care for Frankie. Please see the rubric for additional details.
