Every case has a facts, reasoning, a rule and a result in addition to contrasting arguments or points of view presented.

Visit your state or national ANA website or other state/federal legislative site and search for CURRENT health care policy issues and bills. Write a letter in the form of an email to your legislator, specific to a CURRENT piece of legislation and provide reasoning regarding how this issue will impact your ability to provide care to patients in your practice, your support or opposition for this issue, how this issue will impact health care, financing, etc. Determine if the issue should be directed to a state or federal legislator…this is to whom you should address your letter. Frankie’s mother reports that Frankie’s behavior has been difficult since he was a toddler when he became unbearably restless and demanding. He slept very little and “got into everything.” When he was 4 years old, he was rejected by a preschool because of his difficult behavior. He has few friends because he is unable to participate in fair play. He is unable to watch TV or participate in games that require quiet concentration. His activities at home essentially include riding his bike or playing outdoors with his dog. His room stays messy, and he is destructive of his possessions. The psychiatrist admits Frankie to the child psychiatric unit with a diagnosis of ADHD. He orders the initiation of therapy with
methylphenidate (Ritalin).
