What types of serological tests were run and what is does the test results mean?
A case study helps connect Physiology theory to real-world disease diagnosis and treatment. These case studies will help you appreciate and understand how human physiology impacts our daily lives. Overview: you will be creating your own detailed case study involving a disease that affects your organ system along with the follow up questions for other students to answer. This case study should be based on a disease other than the one you described in Benchmark Two- pathophysiology discussion posted in previous module. For module seven discussion, submit ONLY the case study and the follow-up questions WITHOUT their answers to the discussion board. (You will post the answers to your case study questions later when you put together your final project/ presentation). My suggestion is that you weave a story around a disease from your organ system without revealing the name of the disease (you may take clues from the case study we did on Hep B). Please don`t include any references either! Your classmates will answer those questions from your case study, and will guess the name of the disease in your case study based on the research they do on the topic This initial post will consist of a case study in 2-4 paragraphs, and after the necessary elements have been presented then follow up questions should be identified in a bulleted list. Create your own detailed case study involving a disease that affects your organ system. This disease should be different from the one you described in module 6 discussion. Focused on the signs, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, and present the case in an engaging style that encourages your classmates to think critically. Create at least 5 follow up questions. (Don`t include answers in this post. You will be submitting the answers to these questions in another module) Example: Case Study: Karen is a 40 year old Caucasian women who has been experiencing chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, fatigue, and vomiting, accompanied by feelings of dehydration, and severe weight loss. She has seen a doctor, Dr. Gaylord, in the past year who diagnosed her with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Dr. Gaylord prescribed a medication called Eluxadoline (also known as Viberzi) to Karen, but she felt that the medication has little to no benefits. As a result of this, Karen decided to seek secondary advice and see Dr. Gosling. Dr. Gosling asked Karen about her family history, but Karen was adopted as a baby so she has no connection with her biological parents. Afterwards, Dr. Gosling decides to run a few serological laboratory tests. The results of the laboratory test show that Karen has a lot of IgA and IgG antibody in her blood as well as an elevated level of EMA. After Dr. Gosling saw these test results, he performed an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The endoscopy showed severe damage on the villi, and the villi appeared flattened. To help Karen treat her disease, Dr. Gosling recommended Karen to follow a new diet, and prescribed her Azathioprine (which is also known as Azasan and Imuran) to help control her inflammation. Follow up Question: 1. Why did Dr. Gaylord think Karen has IBD initially? 2. What does Eluxadoline (Viberzi) do? Why did it have little to no benefits for Karen? 3. What types of serological tests were run and what is does the test results mean? 4. Why did Dr. Gosling perform an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy afterwards? 5. What disease was Karen diagnosed with and what does this have to do with the diet Dr. Gosling recommended?

“International humanitarian law has always had an ‘other’- an ‘other’ that is both a figure excluded from the various categories of protection, and an elaborate metaphor of what the laws of war do not want to be.” (Megret, 2006) Discuss.

Pet therapy can be very effective
Have you ever felt alone and sad? The solution might be by hugging or petting any pet of your preference. Pet therapy is a broad term that includes animal-assisted therapy and other animal-assisted activities (mayo clinic,2020). Pet therapy can help you with various conditions, such as mental health disorders or heart disease but is not limited to those conditions only. This holistic therapy could improve your health by healing you from the inside to the outside. People who have participated in pet therapy have improved their mood and desire to fight whatever condition they are dealing with. The good thing about this therapy is that anybody can benefit from it. Some of the benefits of Animal-assisted therapy are helping people relax, providing comfort, improving cardiovascular health, and reducing loneliness. Pet therapy could be with the pet of your choice. It could be with a dog, cat, or hamster. Pet therapy is comparably cheaper than other medical treatments that are expensive. It does not have any side effects, and if the treatment doesn`t work, you could easily replace it with something else. In conclusion, pet therapy is an excellent alternative to pills or invasive treatments that could cause more bad than good. Reference: Mayo Clinic Staff. (2020, September 15). In your view, what makes a presentation “good?” Why do you think you feel that way?
Next week, you will be sharing with me a portion of the presentation to your sponsor in order to receive feedback in advance of the actual presentation. You probably have prepared numerous presentations in the past, and likely will give presentations in the future, either formally or informally. Share your experiences and best practices with your classmates, using the following questions as a starting point: In your view, what makes a presentation “good?” Why do you think you feel that way? Which resources (web sites, text books, etc.) have you found to be most helpful when you prepare a presentation? What is your general approach to preparing a presentation (e.g., first prepare the slides, then the narrative, or vice versa) and do you think it is effective? What would you like to improve about the process? Can you recall a presentation that you gave or attended that went wrong? Maybe you forgot your notes or the audience just wasn`t engaged and you had to improvise. If you give enough presentations, you will have one of these stories! What did you learn from the experience?
