Misty has come into your office today in tears. When you ask her what is wrong, she cries harder. After a while you calm her down. Misty is 23-years old and married to Bobby, 26-years old. Misty is confused on what to do next. She tells you she is not sure she can leave Bobby, but she doesn’t want to risk bringing a child into the relationship.

In the last few weeks, we examined the interventions of philanthrocapitalists into different aspects of contemporary life – education, agriculture, and global health. You read articles and chapters that discussed the overarching philosophy of these interventions and explored some philanthrocapitalist projects and policies and their implications.

For the final paper, you will pick one of these areas, or another area of your choosing, and investigate and analyze a particular case study to apply or test the theoretical framework of the class. Your case study should be a philanthrocapitalist project, policy, or program that you will analyze through the lens of the class. I offer some examples below, but you may focus on any issue that clearly intersects with the course theme.

Review papers are important outlets for research integration and synthesis (Palmatier, Houston and Hulland, 2018). They provide platforms for new conceptual frameworks, reveal inconsistencies in the extant body of research, synthesize diverse results, and offer a “snapshot” of a domain. In this assignment, each student will select a strategic marketing topic of her/his own choice (e.g., marketing management, services and customer satisfaction, green marketing, shared economy, promotion strategies, etc.) and create a review paper based on scholarly/peer-reviewed journal articles less than 5 calendar years old that addresses the following goals:
Resolve definitional ambiguities and outline the scope of the topic.

Identify inconsistencies in prior results and potential explanations (e.g., moderators, mediators, measures, approaches).

In this paragraph you should introduce the material you are reviewing. What is the title and who are the creators? What is the main message? Here is also where you should state your thesis and how you will support it. How is your essay organized? The end of your first paragraph should preview your body paragraphs.
In your first main body paragraph, discuss your relation to the documentary topic. Why did your choose to review it? How much did you know about the topic before watching? What did you learn after? How does it impact your thoughts and actions?
In your second main body paragraph, focus on the features of the documentary. What was it made up of? What was the main message of the documentary and what the creators use to convey that (interview with experts, personal stories, footage of media, statistics etc.) Why was the message created? What’s the context? What are the creators’ credentials (who are they)?
In your third main body paragraph, focus on the relevance of the work. When was this created? How has the subject matter changed? How does this work apply in 2022? Is there any perspective that you feel is missing? How might this work impact you and your community (friends, family etc.)?
