the response must be (2 pgs for grad students) and
should pithily summarize the week’s readings as well as contain some
ideas for potential discussion. Tell me what the readings said, but
then expand upon that: What did the readings make you think about?
Could you connect them to other readings or to your experience in the
center? How might the readings affect your tutoring practice? These
responses don’t need to be excellently written, but they should
demonstrate that you read and thought about the week’s assigned reading.

Communities of Interest Briefing
Community for assignment (Sacramento, California)
A community of interest is a group or community of people who share a common interest or passion. These people exchange ideas and thoughts about their given passion but may know (or care) little about each other outside of this area. Participation in a community of interest can be compelling, entertaining, and create a lot of emotion about the fairness of a topic or an issue. Frequently, they cannot be easily defined by a particular geographical area. In other words, a community of interest is a gathering of people assembled around a topic of common interest. Its members take part in the community to exchange information, to obtain answers to personal questions or problems, to improve their understanding of a subject, to share common passions, or to play. A “community of interest” is defined not by space or by a specific location but by some common bond (e.g., feeling of attachment) or entity (e.g., farming, church group, water quality, or the right to bear arms).
The sense of community that many Americans have no longer necessarily translates into interacting with people that live within a town, village, or city. This development—as one might expect—can lead to severe challenges to local community groups who seek to galvanize the population to work behind local initiatives, all the while realizing that many people who live in communities today consider not only their state but indeed—the world, as their community. Whether this is a good thing, or a bad thing, overall is best left for individuals to decide on their own.
As a Planning Associate, you have been asked to prepare a Community of Interest brief to the City Manager. In an 8- to 10-page paper, identify an issue or problem in your community that resulted in either citizen action or community development. Discuss the history of this situation and identify the factors and social forces that influenced some type of community development that you are aware of, or interested in, that you will focus on in your Portfolio Project for this class. Keep in mind that your response must focus on a community of interest. You also can visit the https://www.urban.org/features

Conflict Case Analysis Assignment
Jandt Chapter 3 offered a 10-step Change Oriented Conflict Analysis scheme. Select a current conflict in the news (or an older event if you can find sufficient sources to support your answers) to analyze using the scheme. This will ideally be a business or organizational conflict, but you may choose a social or diplomatic conflict, or even an interpersonal conflict (for example, things like celebrity divorces or political feuds are interpersonal conflicts that have very public information).
You may not use any of the 3 conflicts analyzed in Jandt Chapter 3, though other conflicts mentioned in the book are fine.
Support your answers with examples from our class readings/textbook, as well as other sources.
Cite all sources in your paper in APA style. Please cite page/paragraph #s for direct quotations. You may not use any of the 3 conflicts analyzed in Jandt Chapter 3, though other conflicts mentioned in the book are fine.
Include APA style references. You should have at least 8 sources.
Your response should be at least 1400 words.
References are not a part of your minimum word count.

Papers will be graded on grammar, spelling, and writing mechanics as well as content. You may use the Center for Writing Excellence for help. Remember, completed appointments with the Center for Writing Excellence are worth 5 points extra credit for each appointment report I receive from the CWE.

Essay on David Halberstams book October 1964
MUST BE ABLE TO FIND ACCESS TO THE BOOk. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO READ THE BOOK.
One reviewer of October 1964 has described the book as the story of “how the Cardinals grew into a team and how the Yankees fell apart.” How did the differing cultures, contrasting styles of play, and “team chemistry” account for the rise of the Cardinals and the decline of the Yankees? Please create a strong thesis, this teacher is really strict. And please pay good attention to the book, I have had people on this website write essays for his class before and none of them have gotten higher than a c-. If you can get me a B or higher I am willing to tip a big amount!
Your essay should be approximately 750-1000 words. Quotations from sources may constitute no more than 10% of your paper. Provide a word count and make sure the essay is double-spaced.
The final draft of your essay should be carefully crafted and devoid of spelling errors. Proofread your papers for typographical errors. Remember that pronouns and their antecedents must agree in number and recall how to form the possessive case.
Do not use contractions in a formal essay.
Avoid the passive voice (“is,” “was” and other forms of the verb “to be”).
Watch for convoluted syntax and imprecise or faulty diction (word choice). Strive for the active voice and try to compose sentences that are compact and periodic (subject-verb-object).
