Do you see any cultural links toward your own silence or someone else’s silence in conversations?

This week covers a variety of practical examples of how our identity impacts our communication, some questions we might consider include: Does our views always match others’ view of us? Do we understand how others’ identities influence their views? We have so many identities; do we change them depending on the context?

This weeks reading also explored how learning styles, language, ethnic background, and bias may all have a deep impact on our experiences in different settings, such as school, work, and health care.

With these concepts in mind, select 1 scenarios below and respond to each of the associatedj questions in a minimum of 190 words. Provide examples and support from the readings (appropriately cited) for your conclusion. Remember to focus on different cultures, not within your own culture.
Scenario 3: Reflect on your experience with silence in a diverse work setting, an intercultural friendship, or your extended family from another culture (in laws, ect). What is your perception or view when silence occurs in one of these settings when it is different than your culture’s? Do you feel uncomfortable when someone from another culture is quiet for an extended period? Do you see any cultural links toward your own silence or someone else’s silence in conversations? Share your experience and provide rationale and examples to support your responses.

The recommendations should be explained and justified.

Locate the article ‘Magpie: Developing and Using Buyer Personas’ and click ‘PDF’ or ‘EPUB’ depending on your preferred format.
Based on the HBR case details and your understanding of social consumer behaviour, explain the possible motives for participation in social media activities (i.e. social publishing and social commerce footprints) for each buyer’s persona. Briefly discuss implications.
Use theoretical insights on motives and attitudes that influence social media activities to support your answers. (Hint: consider affinity impulse, personal utility impulse, contact comfort, immediacy impulse, the altruistic impulse, and the validation impulse.)

Reflecting on the specific archetypes of social media participation identified in the literature, and information in the case study (personas profile description, etc.), which specific segments does each buyer’s persona represent?
Use social media segmentation theory to support your discussion. (Hint: consider the following: Social Technographic, Social Consumption Matrix, Typology of Social Utility, PEW Internet Technology Types, and Microblog User Types.)

Identify a likely need or a combination of needs that may have a unique relevance for the identified personas’ motivations to be engaged with Magpie.
Incorporate consumer needs and motivation theory to support your answers. (Hint: need for power, need for affiliation, or need for achievements, etc.)

Based on your analysis so far, which persona would be best for Magpie to target initially? Why? Which buyer’s persona should Magpie target next? Why? What are the business implications for your priorities and sequencing?
Reflecting on the consumer self-concept theory, what messaging/value proposition should Magpie use to communicate with the priority persona? Why? Which (if any) of marketing vehicles being considered should Magpie use with the priority persona? Explain and justify your answer.

Issue 1: Should Same-sex Adoption Be Legal?

For module 1 discussion, you will need to select one of the topics and post your response to the following instructions:
In order to discuss these issues, I want you to think about the issues and consider with whom you agree and whom you do not. Explain your thoughts and feelings on each of the given issues. In order to receive full credit on these postings, you want to make sure you address BOTH sides of the issues by citing examples the authors present and then tie in your own views and thoughts. You can also consider how the topics relate to a larger picture? What is the effect on society as a whole? Or you can also share whether or not you believe the author credible in the way he or she states the argument and if not, why? Does the author make a valid point? Does he seem reliable, arrogant, unreasonable, insightful, etc? And how does all of this change (or not change) your feelings about the issue? Remember, simply posting your opinion on the topic will not get you full credit!
