Write a paper [3-4 pages (or more if needed), 1” margins, double-spaced, 12-point font] that addresses the following topics

Step 1: Read the article “The Failures of Leaders” [http://www.govleaders.org/failures.htm].

Step 2: Write a paper [3-4 pages (or more if needed), 1” margins, double-spaced, 12-point font] that addresses the following
topics:
A summary of “The Failures of Leaders” article.
An explanation of the ways in which you experienced the issues presented in the article at your workplace or in other areas of your life.
The one idea in “The Failures of Leaders” article that you found most relevant to your quest to be a more effective leader. (Be sure to explain why you chose this particular idea).
Identify and explain two (2) points in “The Failures of Leaders” article that most closely align with the ideas in the materials we have read so far in this class.
Identify and explain two (2) points in “The Failures of Leaders” article that differ from the ideas in the materials we have read so far in this class.
Your grade for this assignment will be based on the insights you provide, and the degree to which you incorporated into your paper ideas in “The Failures of Leaders” article AND the ideas in our readings. However, avoid merely copying quotes from the Ray Blunt article; be sure that your paper is written in your own words — as highlighted in the grading rubric, you should use direct quotes judiciously to support (rather than in place of) your explanation and analysis.

Your paper needs to be in the form of an essay — this means that you will need to include a title page, introduction, section headings (for each topic addressed in the paper), conclusion, and a References page [see the mail message sent out the first week of class, which includes a sample paper]. Be sure that your paper fully explains the ideas presented, using points from the article, as well as the required readings (and/or other appropriate sources). Citations within the text must be properly presented in APA form.

Reading Reflection on The heavy toll of the black belt’s wastewater crisis

Please write an intellectual reflection on the reading or a portion of the reading that either
(a) you disagreed with in part or in its entirety or
(b) that most challenged your preexisting views.

Start your reflection by letting me know which reading you’re responding to and whether you’re writing about it because
(a) you disagreed with it or
(b) it challenged your preexisting views about something.

Then, expand on that point. I’m asking you to share intellectual insights, reflections, and/or arguments, not your emotional reactions to the readings.

Some prompts if you’re unsure of where to start:
1. What do you disagree with in this reading and why?
2. If this reading applies to your personal experiences, does your personal experience align with or run counter to the argument or gist of the reading? If it does not align, how would you change the author’s argument to reflect experiences you have had?
3. Did you change your mind about something after reading this? Why or why not?
4. What was new to you about this reading, and how did it change the way you think about ideas from this course?
5. What was missing from this reading? What did the author leave out?
6. What have you learned in other classes that run counter to this reading? What might account for this difference?

I am not looking for an essay, just genuine intellectual engagement with the ideas expressed in the reading. The reading material is attached below. Please read and follow the instructions.

Frankl Essay: Third Draft

You are adding additional content to your Frankl Essay draft #2, and expanding the length of the draft. Your second draft should be a minimum of 8 pages and needs to include:

A an academic-style title that is both creative and descriptive

A “hook” or first sentence that intrigues the reader and makes them want to read more about your perspective on this issue.

An introductory paragraph that introduces all three of our sources (Psychologist and Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl; Positive Psychologist Emily Esfahani-Smith; New York Times journalist David Shimer + Yale Professor Laurie Santos) and mentioning how they relate to each other.

A thesis statement providing three reasons why you are arguing what you are arguing as well as which side of the debate you are on. The two sides of the debate are:
Frankl would LIKE the course at Yale
Frankl would DISLIKE the course at Yale

9 body paragraphs (this breaks down to 3 about what the course at Yale does, 3 about whether Frankl would like/dislike the course, and 3 about whether Esfahani-Smith would like/dislike the course).

Remember, every body paragraphs needs to have:
A topic sentence introducing the topic of the paragraph.
2 quotes (minimum). Don’t forget to mention which part of the quoted text is important/helps support your argument, and demonstrate why.
A parenthetical in-text citation following each quote you use.
A conclusion sentence

A counter-argument paragraph (this paragraph goes between your last body paragraph supporting your argument and the conclusion paragraph. AKA: body paragraph of support, counter-argument, conclusion paragraph). Your counter -argument paragraph is where you address the fact that this isn’t a cut-and-dried, Apples vs Oranges, 0 or 1 argument–there are nuances and opinions other than your own. In your counter argument you need to address the fact that some people who would argue the opposite of your position in the debate about whether Frankl would like the course at Yale or not.
In other words, if you are arguing that Frankl would like the course, then your counterargument is where you acknowledge that some people might believe that Frankl would dislike the course.
If you are arguing that Frankl would dislike the course, then you need to acknowledge the fact that some people might believe that Frankl would like the course.
In both cases, you need to provide evidence supporting the view opposite your own, acknowledge why people might think this. Next you:
either refute this claim and show why the perspective opposite your own is misinformed/not entirely correct, or
if it is a strong point, conceded the point, but remind your reader that that is a single point in favor of the perspective opposite your own, and you have just provided several items of evidence to support your point. In other words, there is still more evidence to support your perspetive than that of the opposite side of the debate.

An academic-style conclusion paragraph.

The Divinity of Jesus and the Controversial Practice of Child Sacrifice among Christians”

Need to write an essay about why there are some Christian sacrifice their kids and do Christian believe that Jesus is God’s son and why and how?

I am going to be attaching my abstract for essay 1 that passed already and essay 2 which what we are going to be writing about today.

I also need 5 recourses that can’t be a website, it needs to be a book or a journal article or documentation.

Below will be the instructions that professor gave to us. Thanks, and reach out if you need more info.

a. The research paper is designed to give you first-hand knowledge of a religious system with which you have not previously been familiar. Ideally, you will look at an aspect of a primal religion, but it is also possible to look at certain aspects of world religions (talk to me if you want to take the latter route). It is also designed to give you an opportunity to look at the adaptive role of religious beliefs and practices in particular societies and under particular circumstances. Last, a research paper gives you one more chance to practice basic research skills and to test your skills in what will be, for many of you, a new subject area.

b. Choose a religion that intrigues you, read about it, and select one or two aspects of it on which to research. You will then research that topic within the context of the society in which it is found. Start by writing an abstract of the paper you are planning to write that will describe what you will be writing about and why it is important. Include what culture, ethnicity, religion, time period, place, and specific aspects of the religion you will cover. You will find abstracts accompanying many of the papers you will be using as sources of your data, so you will have a chance to see how long they are and what functions they perform. You will type the abstract in a short single-spaced paragraph (100 words), titled, to be handed in as “Research 1” (25 points). (For a sample, see an article abstract written for the American Anthropologist Journal). Included on this page, you must list at least 3 of the 5 minimum sources required for this paper, which you plan to use, in proper reference style according to the syllabus. This is DUE MON 3/20/23, IN CLASS. Note NO web-only sources are to be used for this paper, and this is a formal paper, so use no first person singular nor plural and no you, your, etc., instead use third person only (a person, one, this writer, this researcher).

Next, start writing the paper itself. The paper will have an introduction which gives all the topics to be covered and the order of topic presentation all the way through emic and etic analysis and conclusion, and mention the types of sources to be used for emic vs. etic analysis. The introduction is similar to the abstract, but should not use the same exact wording, and will include additional information. It should include general information on what the paper will cover, specify the time period, country, and the culture/ethnicity in which the religion will be covered, the religion and specific focal points within the religion and specify the order in which the different types of data you will discuss will be presented (i.e., descriptions of time period, country, culture, ethnicity, overview of religion chosen, description of specific aspect of religion that is your focus, etic and emic analysis of significance of aspect(s) of religion studied and religion to society, concluding remarks). List what types (not titles) of sources will support Emic vs. Etic Analysis sections in your introduction, even though you will not yet write those sections yet as part of Research 2.

c. For the body of the paper, it is required that you use topical headings for the different sections of your paper for clarity and to help your organization of it.
Description sections must include the following, each in its own labeled section: Give a description of what was going on during the time period you chose to cover that might affect the religion you are examining. Next give a description of the country you chose to cover in terms of geography, location and neighbors, main economy. Next give a description of the dominant culture you are examining in terms of main cultural values, lifestyle, marriage patterns, governing system and/or anything that might affect the practice of the religion. In this section mention what the dominant religions practiced are and population percentages for each. Next, if you are describing a multi-ethnic culture, now describe the ethnic group you have chosen to focus on, again in terms of main cultural values, lifestyle, marriage patterns, and anything that might affect how the religion is practiced. Next give an overview on the religion you have chosen. Next, give a description of the particular religious behaviors on which you will focus. That concludes Research 2, which is 7 pages long, plus abstract, cover page and reference page. When you do Research 3, you will add 3 additional sections: an emic analysis of that behavior, an etic analysis of that behavior, and a conclusion.

d. The Introduction and all the Description Sections will, together, make up “Research 2” (75 points) and will be typed, double-spaced, and handed in next, along with a reference page. Please use American Anthropologist style for in-text citations and the Reference Page (For a sample, see the examples given below). Please remember that data or ideas you use that are not thought up by you (even if paraphrased rather than directly quoted) MUST HAVE A CREDIBLE SOURCE (a source recognized by anthropologists) which must be CITED in the text. No source should appear in your reference page that has not been actually cited in the paper. You will include citations for all the information about the culture and its religion that you use, so that interested readers may check your sources. Do not panic if your paper topic turns out to deviate a bit from what you planned in your abstract; this is fairly common, and it is why you will rewrite your abstract for the final draft, Research 3.
R2 is DUE IN CLASS on Wed 4/19/23. Research 2 must be 7 pages long, plus a reference page and cover page, and must include the required elements mentioned above, or points will be docked. It will be edited, graded and given back to you to rewrite, along with adding on the analysis and conclusion sections as part of Research 3.

e. Next, start working on the last 3 sections of your paper, the Emic analysis section and Etic analysis section of your data, as well as the conclusion section, which might discuss differences found in emic vs. etic perspectives. The analysis must be based in a cultural relativist stance so that it presents neither a justification nor condemnation of the beliefs and behaviors under discussion. A review of functions and dysfunctions of a behavior for practitioners to adapt to the larger society is often a good starting point for your analysis. Why people do what they do and what it all means is also discussed here, including the meaning behind any symbols/symbolic actions earlier described. Note that you must have published sources for each type of analysis; this information does not depend on your opinion.

f. You will be required to revise the abstract (Research 1), introduction, and description sections (Research 2) and hand those revisions back in as part of the final version, along with the emic and etic analysis, conclusion, and reference page. You will also hand back in your original Research 1 and 2 (with my comments on them) at this time, so I can compare and see that you made the requested revisions. You will lose 5 points each for each missing item if you do not follow these instructions. That final version made up of all the parts will constitute “Research 3” (100 points) and be 10 pages long. The conclusion should summarize the topics covered in the paper and state how this religion and religious aspect that was the main focus helps people adapt to their society.

g. Please use American Anthropologist style (Examples given below). If you collect information from informants, known as primary data, tell me who they are. Journals, newspapers and magazines, and similar recognized reference sources are acceptable. Web sites do NOT constitute credible sources for this paper, although they may refer you to sources that would be acceptable. They may be sources of data under some circumstances, but because their reliability cannot be checked, they may not be used as sources for any solid evidence or analysis. You need a minimum of 5 acceptable sources or point will be docked
