Assessment 2- Written Assignment, Reflective Journal
Students are required to keep an account of their clinical learning experience in a journal entry. Students are required to reflect on three clinical situations they experienced related to their specific area of practice. Examples of clinical situations that student can reflect upon will include at least 3 themes from the following list (but not limited to): meeting the educational needs of the patients, families and significant others; functioning as a nurse in a multidisciplinary health care team; communication problems with colleagues/clients/clients’ families; clinical issues; or ethical dilemmas. Students need to identify their personal and professional parameters in a way they have handled the situation that evolved from their clinical practice, reflect on those aspects and identify the learning points. Students will use the Gibb’s reflective cycle as a framework for their reflection. Students must add some suggestions/recommendations at the end, resulting from analysing their reflections. Students will need to allocate time to reflect on their experiences in practice, explore their personal thoughts, feelings and emotions, focusing on positive and negative aspects of the experience.
Guidelines for reflective journaling
In this unit students are required to reflect on their learning experiences by adapting Gibb’s model of reflection to describe an event/issue/problem they have encountered in their specialty clinical practice.
1. Description: Explore the context of the event in a specialty area of an acute care setting and describes the event, where it happened and what actually occurred.
2. Feelings/emotions: Explore and describe your thoughts and feelings at the time of the event/issue/problem encountered.
3. Evaluation: Make your own judgement as a nurse, about the outcome of the event; to identify what went well and areas for improvement. Was the event resolved satisfactorily?. Self- examination and self-evaluation of the event/issue/problem encountered.
4. Analysis: Draw on your critical thinking/analysis as a nurse to explore the situation at a deeper level and consider, why the event occurred, and if anything could have been implemented to prevent this event from happening.
5. Conclusion: Explore alternative actions that may be used to deal with similar situations to affect a more positive outcome.
6. Action Plan: Consider the event and to put in place a plan which, on implementation, would deal more effectively with similar future events. This could include further educational training/skills development.
to ensure every patient is wearing an identification wristband

*Explain how to turn this problem into a vision for future practice improvement.
*Develop an action plan that clearly identifies the change proposal and links theory to practice allowing the implementation of change.
*Critically analyse change management theory and leadership principles and then identify chosen management theory and give rationale for the choice.
*The action plan should clearly outline stages in the change process, actions that need to be taken, resources required and the anticipated outcome or measure for success. These actions should be cohesively linked to the chosen change management theory and a rationale given for each action intended to carry out.

Recipe Writing Assignment
You will receive an email directing you where to find your recipe assignment in the CANVAS modules section. You must determine which ingredients in the recipe are plant products, then write a paragraph about each plant product including at a minimum, the following information listed below. You may include more information as you see fit that makes your submission more interesting and informative.
1) What is the scientific name of each plant used in the recipe? (Formatted correctly … italics required.)
2) In what specific states is the plant grown commercially in the USA, or specifically where in the World, what countries is it grown commercially if it is NOT produced commercially in the USA?
3) What botanical part(s) of the plant are used in the recipe?
4) Discuss in several sentences or a paragraph how the plant is commercially produced in the field, harvested, and processed. Yes, this will require several sentences! How is it grown? What does it take to get it to market? (If you’re reading a reference that is talking about growing plants on a windowsill or planting a few in your backyard -> close that tab and search for another reference, this is NOT the correct information for this assignment.)
You should use proper English grammar and complete sentences. A brief introduction would be useful to make the overall paper more coherent. Please be sure to double space your paper so I can make comments. Your last name followed by the recipe name is an appropriate title for you paper AND for the file name for your submission on Canvas. You may use any references that you deem necessary, but you must list your references in correct bibliographical form and include matching in-text citations (author, date) within your paper. (You must use APA formatting for in-text citations and references.) You MUST use your textbook as one of your references in your paper and you SHOULD TRY to cite at least one of the reference books on reserve at the FGCU library in your paper. There are about 30 books on reserve for this assignment, just ask at the front desk in the library for the list (or the FGCU library webpage connects to a list of these reserve books on line). There are also several e-books on fruit and vegetable production available to you in the Modules. Please submit your assignment in the online dropbox. You will receive an email directing you where to find your recipe assignment in the CANVAS modules section. Grading is based on the discovery of plants and plant parts used in the recipe and then how you follow the instructions for the paper. These are based on real recipes. You start with a zero for the paper. If you find all of the plants and plant products (say 11 out of 11), then your score starts at 90. If you miss one or more plants or plant products, your score is a percentage of 90 (say you find 10 out of 11, then your score starts at 82). At this point, your score can be lowered when you make certain errors in the paper.
a) If you are entirely missing the “Reference” list of references, then I deduct 10 points from your score. (Plagiarism error.)
b) If you fail to use any in-text citations within the text (author, date) then I deduct 10 points from your score. (Reference confusion.)
c) If you omit scientific names of plants completely from your paper, then I deduct 10 points from your score. Failure to put scientific names in italics, -1 point.
d) If you fail to use your textbook as a reference, I deduct 4 points from your score.
f) Other errors in grammar usage, spelling errors, citation errors, missing or MIS-INFORMATION, incorrect use of APA formatting, wrong plant names, etc. can result in a deduction of 1 or more points from your score for each error (the situation varies). Comments will be made directly on the paper as well as in the comment area here on CANVAS alongside the paper, so please check both of these areas to further understand your score. Columbus (see instructions (
In the late 19th century, Columbus was celebrated as a great world hero and his voyage of discovery as a great defining moment in world history. Since that time the way historians see and understand world history has changed dramatically. Columbus has been reviled as a butcher whose voyages sent thousands of Native Americans and Africans to die in barbaric ways and who paved the way for the spread of African slavery in the New World. But this point of view, while politically correct, ignores some basic questions raised by historians in the past three decades: questions about who Columbus was, in what ways he reflected the world in which he lived, the economic situation that launched his voyages, and other factors. Explain Columbus’s significance in historical context. Support your argument with examples.

The central leadership dilemma Captain Yeager was facing was being a new training squadron flight commander. He was very aware that whatever decision he made regarding 2Lt Mitchell would set the tone and standard for what he would and would not tolerate in his squadron. The decision he would make would more than likely be the foundation for any future conflicts or training deficiencies with future student pilots.
A second dilemma Captain Yeager was facing; he knew his actions could have lasting implications on the life and career of 2Lt Mitchell. He was thoughtful and sought guidance because he did not want to make a hasty decision that could ruin 2Lt Mitchell’s future as a pilot or in the Air Force.
I relate to 2Lt Mitchell in this situation. I, too, was a 2LT in 2019 for my Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC). I struggled with some of the concepts we were learning regarding radios and some of the networking topics. My Training Advising and Counseling (TAC) officer was Captain C. My situation differs from 2Lt Mitchell’s because Captain Yeager showed that he cared and was empathetic, not wanting to ruin his career. Captain C negatively counseled me twice and never provided remedial training for me as Captain Yeager did for 2Lt Mitchell. Even before I was counseled, I was seeking training from my peers and putting in extra time into studying. I was putting forth the effort to do well. Captain Yeager did not want to ruin Mitchell’s career. Captain C threatened to kick me out of the Army if I was unsuccessful with one more section. What was unfair and frustrating is I had been the only one to be counseled for failing any part of our course. There were people that had failed Land Navigation without any repercussions. Captain C did not navigate for me as Captain Yeager did for Mitchell. I had to advocate for myself. I fought my way to graduation; BOLC did not define who I was or what kind of leader I was going to be.
Captain Yeager used several good lesson topics from Workbook 1. Captain Yeager exercised exceptional decision-making and discretion. He sought counsel from Lt Col Arnold, knowing he needed wisdom from someone who might have had to make this same decision before. In Zechariah 7:9, 8:16, “the Lord says: Make fair decisions. Show faithful love and compassion to one another … These are the things you must do: Speak truth to one another; make true sound decisions within your gates” (HCSB, 2004). Captain Yeager also showed how he was self-aware by recognizing that his choices would affect Mitchell’s life and career. Captain Yeager also sought wisdom through God’s word and prayer.

For my scenario to be reviewed, I am using Crushed Aspirations. The three lessons I am using are decision-making and discretion, self-awareness, and trust. These three areas are the key to Capt. Yeager success with Lt Mitchell. First, decision-making and discretion, “decision-making is the process or act of making wise choices either individually or with a group of people. Discretion is the ability to act or decide based on one’s judgment; it is the quality of being discreet in action and speech” (York, 2020, p 18). This is the area where Capt. Yeager personally flew with Lt Mitchell multiple times, after the first flight of noticing a failure on the student’s part was first identified, Capt. Yeager flew with him on Lt Mitchell’s flight which was a decision point (ride four). Then after making that personal choice to fly with the Lt, Capt. Yeager reached out to his boss for wisdom as well. He relied on this wisdom to offer Lt. Mitchell more training to be able to possibly improve his chances in training by going to the centrifuge. Upon successful completion, put the Lt back into an aircraft for training. During this process, Capt. Yeager used his self-awareness to ensure his success as a leader, as well as the best success for his Lt. “Self-awareness is to have knowledge, understanding or cognizance of one’s personal strengths, capabilities, composition, and weakness” (York, 2020, p 40). Daniel York states that self-awareness is key to a leader and whom they work with. By using all of his personal strengths, then seeking wisdom from others, that allowed, Capt. Yeager to provide the best for the USAF, the flight by not over-committing valuable time and resources to one person and gaining what is best for the student, which will then still be able to give back to the USAF as a whole. Lastly, trust, Capt. Yeager trusted the wisdom of his boss to add extra training to verify that what he thought was true. The Lt’s problems with high G’s. Additionally, to trust the system of reassigning him to another aircraft verse just saying the Lt could not be a pilot. “Trust is the ability to rely on the integrity, ability, or strength of a person or thing. It is the confidence or hope that something will turn out well” (York, 2020, p 48). All the actions of Capt. Yeager demonstrated this of him. By using these traits, it allowed Capt. Yeager to have fulfillment. The best way I believe that shows this 2 Timothy 4:7-“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (HCSB, 2009). This explains that doing the right thing isn’t always the easiest thing, stated as fighting the good fight. A race is not an easy thing nor short, however through the whole process one keeps the faith. These are all actions demonstrated by Capt. Yeager throughout the process. In the end, Lt. Mitchell calls to thank Capt. Yeager for what he did for him and was happy in his new aircraft. In this case, all parties ended up benefiting from what Capt. Yeager did during that difficult time.
