It’s renaissance over recent years
What factors facilitate it in staff teams (including available literature)
What factors act as barriers (including available literature)

Clear fail (0-39)
An assignment in this category would demonstrate very little understanding of the material covered.
There would be major shortcomings in that the assignment would give little information, or wholly
inadequate information; would show very limited understanding of the professional issues topic
chosen or provide only a very weak description of the issue.
Borderline fail (40-49)
The assignment would be deficient in one or more of the areas described above, or generally
impoverished in its treatment of the question overall. However, there would be some indication that if
provided with constructive comments and criticism, the trainee could achieve a pass mark on re-
submission.
Borderline Pass (50-54)
An assignment in this category would include just enough information, sufficiently well presented, to
demonstrate that the writer had an understanding of the professional issue of concern, was able to
make an informed comparison of alternatives and had a basic grasp of their different implications for
professional practice.
Adequate Pass (55-59)
This level of assignment would be regarded as ‘solid and competent’, demonstrating clear knowledge
of the relevant professional issues as well as its implications. An uneven pattern with some greater
strengths, but weaker areas close to the pass mark, might be awarded a mark in this category.
Good Pass (60-69)
The assignment would show evidence of above average competence in the writer’s ability to
understand and apply good practice, or would supply a reasoned critique concerning the professional
issues topic chosen. There would be good usage of sources, and clear accounts of viewpoints firmly
linked with a sound grasp of their clinical implications.
Very Good Pass (70-79)
All of the sections of the assignment would show a high level of competence, clarity and ability to
grasp the issue of concern, ethical, conceptual and empirical underpinnings, and clinical relevance.
There would be a strong sense of ability to apply this in a fluid and flexible way to practice.
Excellent Pass (80-100)
An assignment at this level would demonstrate all of the strengths of a performance in the preceding
category, but would contain additional ingredients which marked it as outstanding. It would be of a
potentially publishable standard and demonstrate new insights, make novel inter-connections, or show
