Market & Demand

This week’s discussion focuses on the financial and economic decisions hospitals face in our current healthcare system. For your initial post, explain how cost-shifting impacts the flow of hospital monies. Describe “cream skimming” and determine if it is an ethical business practice, particularly in healthcare economics. How do Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements apply to these practices? What impact do these reimbursement systems have on a hospital’s budget?

Effects of stress

Please write 2 responses to the following discussion post in a minimum of 150 words each and include 2 scholarly references for each post.

Michelle:
The Effects of Stress
Stress is an everyday part of life from one’s personal to professional lives, though the stressors themselves may change and parts of the population will be more prone to reactions from differing stressors. Stress over an assignment is not going to equate to the same type of stress one feels over not being able to pay their bills or grief related stress, but all of these stressors can affect performance. “Stress can interfere with or stimulate learning, although the responses to stress may change with age and differ for males and females and for those who have experienced traumatic events” (Bastable, et al., 2020). This remark by Bastable, et al., goes on to say that learning is a complex and active process preferring sensory experiences. Given the need for interaction within allied health learning and teaching with much of the learning better processed with hands-on experiences, there are multiple ways in which an educator can keep students actively learning and being mindful of stressors with their students.
Educator Mindfulness and Student Population
Hepburn, et al., (2021) state that research is increasingly suggesting that student wellbeing and performance can be an indirect reflection of their educator’s wellbeing. While educators need to mindful of their students, they need to first focus on their own health and stressors to be able to do their job effectively. Many school systems ensure access to health promotion services for their educators, especially within the early years of their career, to prevent quick burnout and educators leaving the field. When regarding the student population, multiple studies suggest that females are more likely to experience anxiety than their male counterparts. Devereaux, et al., (2021) study graduate allied health students and found the female students were more likely to be anxious, experience poor sleep, be sedentary, and have low energy, all associated with increasing anxiety. They suggest providing opportunities to keep students active such as the use of standing desks and encouraging small breaks to walk whenever possible, whenever the lessons were sedentary in nature. Schussler, et al., (2021) discusses stressors in adolescents and point out that this is the time frame in which coping mechanisms are being formed and the consequences of poor coping mechanisms within this time frame. Educators focus on mindfulness techniques helped these students in identifying their stressors and being able to cope with them.
Considerations
An educator should be mindful in paying attention to their students and their behaviors while in class, noting if there are any significant changes in student demeanor, as well as maintaining awareness of what student population they may be working with, and the challenges faced by them. It would not be prudent to simply single out female students, even if they do tend to experience higher levels of anxiety and stress, as that does not mean the male students will not have issues with this as well. Bastable, et al., (2020) suggest some implications for the educational process like considering the specific needs for each learner, being organized with lessons and not rushed, linking the lesson to something previously taught, taking breaks to allow for processing, and understanding limitations for student learning or a lack thereof. The implications are reminiscent of instructional events taught in previous courses, for example Gagne’s 9 events of instruction (Kruse, 2008). Stress can be limited within the classroom by the educator if they keep mindful of their own health and wellbeing, the intended student population, and keeping everyone engaged and involved.

Article Review of EMS Quality improvement

Below i have attached the instructions. Additionally, i have attached an article based on QI of Hypertensive patients. I feel this would be a good article to work with in building this review.

Limited research and evidence-based information available—specific to emergency medical services (EMS)—have made it tough for the industry to evaluate and apply lessons learned for our potential shortcomings.
For this assignment, choose an article to review from the databases in the CSU Online Library. The article must have been published within the last 10 years.
Find an article about EMS quality improvement (QI) that is of interest to you. You can also research the specific topics of operations, documentation, or clinical care. Write a two-page review of the article that includes the information below.
Briefly introduce and summarize the article.
Identify the author’s main points.
What types of QI issues were addressed in the article?
Summarize types of QI programs mentioned in the article.
Why do you think QI programs are tough to implement in EMS? Identify barriers to implementing QI in EMS. Explain.
If you were tasked with implementing a coaching or mentoring program as a part of a QI initiative where you work (or somewhere you hope to work in the future), which would you choose? Why?
How does the research from this article correlate with your agency or jurisdiction (or somewhere you hope to work), and how can this research be utilized to improve the level of service provided?
Your completed article review must be at least two pages in length. At a minimum, you must cite and reference the article you are reviewing. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.Limited research and evidence-based information available—specific to emergency medical services (EMS)—have made it tough for the industry to evaluate and apply lessons learned for our potential shortcomings.

Module 2 – Case

For this assignment, first, review the background materials with a focus on Hersey and Blanchard’s Situational Leadership model from Holsinger and Carlton (2008, Chapter 4) and Thompson and Glasø (2018). Make sure you are familiar with the four leadership styles covered in the situational approach (Directing, Coaching, Supporting, and Delegating) and situations where you are supposed to use these four styles

Case Assignment
Pick one of the following scenarios (A, B, or C) below:

A)You are in charge of a team of architects. They are highly skilled but have strong opinions and do not necessarily follow instructions. These architects are independent thinkers who are used to doing things their own way.

B) You are in charge of a fast-food restaurant. The employees are all teenagers who have not yet graduated from high school, and this is the first job for most of them.

C) You are the supervisor of a team of software engineers. They are all highly skilled and highly motivated and are used to working independently. All of them believe in the mission of the company.

and write a 3 full-page paper (excluding title and reference pages) to include 3 scholarly sources from the required or optional reading lists and address the following:

1) What is the Situational Leadership Model, and how can it be used to improve your selected scenario?

2)The Situational Leadership Model involves both “inputs” and “outputs” by taking employee commitment and competency as inputs and then, based on the employee information, selects one of the four Directing, Coaching, Supporting, or Delegating as an output.
Create a table comparing and contrasting the four leadership styles (Directing, Coaching, Supporting, or Delegating) in terms of inputs and outputs, and include a 1 or 2 paragraph discussion of your table.

3) Based on your table and the readings, which of the four leadership styles do you think is most useful to the scenario and why?
Assignment Expectations

Your Case Assignment should be at least 3 full-pages in length (excluding Title and Reference pages).
Be sure to cite and reference (Using APA Style) a minimum of 3 scholarly sources listed in the Course Materials and Bibliography (Module 2 Required and Optional Reading List), or in the Module 2 Background Page: Required and Optional Readings.
Upload your paper to the Case 2 Dropbox before the assignment due date.
Include both a References Page and in-text citations.

Chapter 10 Personal Application, choose two:

Your EQ

The concept of emotional intelligence through the exploration of their own emotional awareness. In 1990, Daniel Goleman published a book in which he introduced a new concept he called emotional intelligence. It involves four primary areas: (1) emotional self-awareness,
(2) managing emotions, (3) reading emotions, and (4) handling relationships.

Instructions: Review Goleman’s categories of emotional intelligence, and discuss your level of functioning in each area. Be open and honest in your evaluation of yourself, and delineate your strengths and weaknesses in each category. How have your weaknesses in particular areas affected you? What might you do to improve your emotional functioning in these areas? How motivated are you to change?
Don’t Be Such a Cry Baby!

In this exercise, assess your perceptions of a common infant emotional state: crying. Crying is the most important mechanism newborns have for communicating. We also know that babies have a minimum of three different cries, all indicating a different need (although many mothers would say there are even more!). Developmental psychologists differ in their beliefs about the importance of responding to infants’ cries and the implications it has for subsequent crying. Regardless, it is something inherent about being an infant and in being around infants for any period.

Instructions: Think about when you encounter crying babies in a public place. When was the last time you were in a restaurant and had your dinner interrupted by the loud cries of an infant? How about standing in line at the grocery store? The movie theater? How did you feel upon hearing the crying? Be honest! What is most people’s reaction to a crying infant? Discuss this with regard to what you’ve learned about the significant role crying plays in development.

Unit 4-Corrections(Project)

One of the recent developments facing the public administration of corrections is that there has been an increasing call by public officials and the citizenry to privatize the prison systems in the United States.
In a 5–6-page-paper, address the following:
From the perspective of a public-sector correctional administrator, make 2 arguments for keeping the jails in public hands.
From the perspective of a private-sector correctional facility manager, make 2 arguments for turning the correctional system over to the private correctional industry.
Briefly discuss the types of challenges that each sector—both public and private—may face.
Are there any legal issues, either criminal or civil, that need to be addressed before privatization can occur?
Support your viewpoints from your readings and other appropriate outside sources. Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.

viel In islam women

Craft an argument about veiling and gender in Islam. What does the veil represent for Muslim women who wear it? Why is veiling such an issue for Muslim women, especially in a Euro-American context? Consult 1-2 secondary sources to make an argument that addresses why veiling is perceived so differently by women who practice Islam versus non-Muslim outsiders.

Research Assignment #4
Please choose ONE of the following prompts and compose a 2-3 page paper that addresses the prompt. Your paper should be double-spaced and written in a 12-point font. You should have normal margins. Please submit your assignment as a docx or PDF file saved as “[student last name]_research assignment 1.” You should cite your secondary sources using Chicago style (Notes-bibliography) format. Please see this resource for guidance on your citations. Please recall that failure to cite your sources using in-text citation is a form of plagiarism. For some guidance regarding writing and style, please see our course Writing and Style Guide on our Brightspace page.

When you refer to our class sources on veiling, your footnotes should look like this:
The women in the TRT video entitled “Muslim Women Talk Hijab” all share diverse stories about their experiences with veiling.[1]
In “Veiling and the Hijab,” the authors note that there is no consensus on how veiling affects Muslim women.[2]
