Normalize a Data Model-Provide a brief description of what was applied to reach 1st normal form as well as the model in 1st normal form.

Preparatory Instructions:

Please be sure to read Chapter 6 – Data Modeling (pp 187 – 213, Systems Analysis & Design text).

Entity Relationship Diagrams (known as ERDs) depict the data that will be used and created in a system and provides business requirements details such as the type and amount of each data element as well as the relationships between data entities.

This week we will practice creating ERDs. You will find that ERDs are very commonly used and can be a critical tool used during requirements analysis and design phases.

Objectives:

This week’s assignment is to apply each Normalization rule to the Inventory Order model to reach the 3rd Normal Form.

The system development team at the Wilcon Company is working on developing a new customer order entry system. In the process of designing the new system, the team has identified the following data entity attributes:

Describe a time when you needed to make a change, whether personal or professional, but resisted it.

Overcoming Resistance to Change

Change can be difficult, even when it is inevitable. Therefore, change can often be met with resistance initially. Individuals resist change for many reasons, such as fearing the unknown, feeling overwhelmed, or believing a change will not last. However, once the resistance is overcome and a change grows into a habit or new baseline, most individuals will consider the effort worthwhile and may also do what they can to help others surpass the barriers they once faced. In this Discussion, you will consider a time when you resisted change and how you might use that experience to help a team overcome their resistance to changes.

After working at your first RN job for 6 months, you are asked to be part of the hiring committee that will interview and hire RNs for two open positions. Having vacancies on your unit means that everyone is working extra shifts and it is important that the positions be filled quickly. There are a dozen applicants. The top six are identified, and interviews are scheduled. There will be four people from the committee at each interview.

Interviews go well and the committee has determined the top two candidates who are equally qualified. When discussing the two candidates, at a meeting of the hiring committee, your supervisor feels that you should not hire one of the candidates because she alluded to the fact that she has diabetes and people with diabetes get sick a lot. She feels the candidate will be unreliable and unable to do her share of the work on the unit.

QUESTIONS:

1.How do you feel about your supervisor’s suggestion?
2.What are the ethical implications?
3.Are there any legal implications?
4.What are your personal feelings?
5.Do you agree with your supervisor?
The top two candidates accepted the positions offered them and were hired immediately. Both were a good fit for the unit, and after orientation was complete, they were able to reduce the strain the staff was feeling from the extra shifts. One of the new employees was diabetic and had been since she was 11 years old. She was very knowledgeable and had very good control of her diabetes. She became a resource for the entire unit related to diabetes education and care. The other new employee had relocated to take this position. Her personal situation was very complicated, and she was often late to work or would have multiple personal phone calls during the shift. She was a good nurse but had difficulty focusing on her job when things in her personal life seemed to be out of control. Within 6 months, she quit and moved back to the town from which she had relocated.

QUESTIONS:

1. In this situation, the nurse with diabetes was managing her disease well. If that were not the case what could the nursing supervisor do to work with the nurse to help her be successful in her new position?
2. Personal bias could have prevented the hiring of a nurse that turned out to be an asset to the unit. What personal biases do you have that may prevent you from interacting fairly with patients or coworkers?
3. How can you minimize the impact of these biases?

Why we consider the aspect of having the negative side of a particular situation first?

It’s about how our mind is always in a hurry to get on a point where we find the most unhealthy thoughts,is it because of environment or a force to a dimension that comprises of negativity?

What is a Militia?

Discussion Thread: What is a Militia? The Second Amendment specifically mentions a “well regulated militia,” which has led some to claim that this Amendment protects the Rights of the military or a state’s National Guard to possess firearms. Explain the meaning of a militia in the context of the Founders’ time period and whether or not that definition has a modern comparison. Discuss the protection of Rights in the Bill of Rights, as they relate to individuals or groups.
