Assignment

A massive organization from Brazil has bought 30 successful organizations from around the world. In order for you to get ahead and get the best opportunity for your organization, you are to attempt to understand the global project management systems of this organization. As their main (portfolio) project management system they utilize MS

Project Server – Cloud version.

Write an overview of the value you see for this system, the frustrations, and problems you may face in using this system for your Reality Project organization. Propose other solutions and give reasoning for your choice. Also, describe how you would proceed in preparing and implementing this system in your organization.
Format: PowerPoint with bullets and visuals. Please use slides notes to elaborate. No word count, only a very convincing presentation. Support your thoughts with references and feel free to benchmark against similar companies.

4. Write an overview of the promise you see for this system, the frustrations, or problems you might have faced. How would you proceed in a massive organization?

Examine both external drivers of cultural change (political, natural environment, technology, globalization, social forces) and internal drivers (organizational structure, leadership style, employee engagement).

PROPOSAL FOR TERM PROJECT IN CULTURE AND ORGANIZATIONS (DUE 11/16)
This course explores the complexities of culture within organizations. Major topics include cultural content and manifestations, cultural similarities and differences, the transmission and evolution of cultures and subcultures, the dynamics of cultural change, the role of leadership in shaping culture, and strategies for managing organizational culture.

You will examine both external drivers of cultural change (political, natural environment, technology, globalization, social forces) and internal drivers (organizational structure, leadership style, employee engagement).

Objective of the Term Project: Your assignment is to design a term project assignment that explores an aspect of organizational culture, aligning with the theories and concepts covered in this course. This project should culminate in a comprehensive paper of 12-15 pages (excluding references and cover page), synthesizing course concepts to offer insights into real-world organizational culture scenarios.

Discuss how this theory can be used to support your commitment to your goals. Your answer should be at least 3-5 detailed sentences.

In this project, you will create a Padlet presentation to identify and apply motivation concepts that will be helpful to your academic journey. Motivation is essential for academic and professional success because it is the drive that gets us to begin and complete tasks.

This project examines the connection between motivation and academic success and assesses your application of the motivation concepts.

Instructions 1. Watch the video tutorial below that covers how to create a Padlet presentation and complete this project.

3. Summarize each of the four motivation theories in your own words. Your answers should be at least 3-5 detailed sentences for each theory and include specific details that support the week 2 textbook.

4. Identify which theory you think would be most helpful in maintaining your motivation.

Discuss how this theory can be used to support your commitment to your goals. Your answer should be at least 3-5 detailed sentences.

5. Identify 2 motivation techniques from the week 2 Motivation textbook (pages 16-17).

Provide an example of how each technique can be used to increase your motivation during your academic journey. Your answers should be at least 2-3 detailed sentences for each technique.

6. Save your Padlet presentation as an image or a PDF. Click the ‘Share’ arrow (upper right corner).

Then scroll down to click ‘Save as image’ or ‘Export as PDF.’ The image may open in a browser window, then right-click on the presentation and click ‘save image as.’ This will save the Padlet image file on your computer. Please avoid taking a screenshot as they affect the visibility of your Padlet.

The Final Project is worth a total of 20 possible points:
15 content points – presentation contains a minimum of 36 content slides (not including bibliography slides) and includes all the required slides and information listed in the Final Project

Info & Project Rubric (same as content required in Checkpoints 1, 2 and 3).
5 presentation points – in order to get the full presentation points, your project will need to meet the following requirements:
10 or more multimedia elements such as photos, charts or graphics
Presentation must be organized, labeled by topic and easy to follow
Well-formulated and detailed bullets or paragraphs
No spelling or grammatical errors

Reference slide(s) with proper citations.
To ensure your project is submitted on time and receives full credit, here are a few suggestions:
Your project must be on an approved wine region (both international and U.S. non-Florida). Failure to use proper regions (i.e. doing your project on an entire country or state) will result in a 50% deduction.

Submit well before the deadline!!! This will be your largest presentation yet and might take a while to upload to Turnitin. Once you have successfully submitted, you will see a confirmation message in Canvas.
When uploading your presentations, use a computer and not a cell phone or mobile device. Chrome and Firefox browsers work best.

Turnitin has a file size capacity of 30 MB. If your project is larger than this, you can reduce the file size by opening in Adobe Acrobat and selecting File -> Save as Other -> Reduced Size PDF.
As a last resort, you can email your checkpoint to your peer mentor (may not work for file sizes over 25 MB)

Review the following scenario and prepare and submit your performance interview guide to address the selected situation.

Review the following scenario and prepare and submit your performance interview guide to address the selected situation.

This is based on chapter 9 of the textbook. (Use a Performance Review Model) A Volleyball Coach The interviewer is the Athletic Director at Forbes College and reviews the performance of all coaches prior to the start of their seasons in late August and when seasons end from January to May.

The interviewee is the head coach of the women’s volleyball team that has won 54 percent of its games each of the past three years. This year is expected to be the break-out year because the team is loaded with experience and has two highly recruited players.

This interview will focus on the prospects for a stellar season and how the coach is working at motivating the team individually and as a whole.

Her teams traditionally start strong and then fade near the end of the season. Degree of success this season may determine the coach’s future at Forbes College.

Thelma/Cindy cou. 120 interview

Goal
One of the best sources for gathering information about what’s happening in an occupation or an industry is to talk to people working in the field. This process is called informational or research interviewing. An informational interview is an interview that you initiate – you ask the questions. The purpose is to obtain information, not to get a job.
GOOD REASONS FOR CONDUCTING AN INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW
to explore careers and clarify your career goal
to discover employment opportunities that are not advertised
to expand your professional network
to build confidence for your job interviews
to access the most up-to-date career information
to identify your professional strengths and weaknesses
Instructions
STEPS TO CONDUCT AND INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEW
Identify the Occupation or Industry You Wish to Learn About Assess your own interests, abilities, values, and skills, and evaluate labor conditions and trends to identify the best fields to research.
Prepare for the Interview Read all you can about the field prior to the interview. Decide what information you would like to obtain about the occupation/industry. Prepare a list of questions that you would like to have answered.
Identify People to Interview Start with lists of people you already know – friends, relatives, fellow students, present or former co-workers, supervisors, neighbors, etc… Professional organizations, the yellow pages, organizational directories, and public speakers are also good resources. You may also call an organization and ask for the name of the person by job title.
Arrange the Interview Contact the person to set up an interview: o by telephone, o by a letter followed by a telephone call, or o by having someone who knows the person make the appointment for you.
Conduct the Interview Dress appropriately, arrive on time, be polite and professional. Refer to your list of prepared questions; stay on track, but allow for spontaneous discussion. Before leaving, ask your contact to suggest names of others who might be helpful to you and ask permission to use your contact’s name when contacting these new contacts.
Follow Up Immediately following the interview, record the information gathered. Be sure to send a thank-you note to your contact within one week of the interview.
NOTE: Always analyze the information you’ve gathered. Adjust your job search, resume, and career objective if necessary.
QUESTIONS
Prepare a list of your own questions for your informational interview. Here are some good questions to consider and use. You choose the questions you want to ask for the information you want to gather and learn about the career and person in the job.
On a typical day in this position, what do you do?
What training or education is required for this type of work?
What personal qualities or abilities are important to being successful in this job?
What part of this job do you find most satisfying? most challenging?
How did you get your job?
What opportunities for advancement are there in this field?
What entry level jobs are best for learning as much as possible?
What are the salary ranges for various levels in this field?
How do you see jobs in this field changing in the future?
Is there a demand for people in this occupation?
What special advice would you give a person entering this field?
What types of training do companies offer persons entering this field?
What are the basic prerequisites for jobs in this field?
Which professional journals and organizations would help me learn more about this field?
What do you think of the experience I’ve had so far in terms of entering this field?
From your perspective, what are the problems you see working in this field?
If you could do things all over again, would you choose the same path for yourself? Why? What would you change?
With the information you have about my education, skills, and experience, what other fields or jobs would you suggest I research further before I make a final decision?
What do you think of my resume? Do you see any problem areas? How would you suggest I change it?
Who do you know that I should talk to next? When I call him/her, may I use your name?
You can interview a teacher, relative, friend, friend of a friend, and much more. If you are having trouble finding someone to interview, go to a department on your school campus and interview a professor in the field.
You can conduct your interview remotely via Zoom. It is okay to do more than one interview (this is encouraged). Get creative! You have options to complete this assignment:
WRITE A ONE-PAGE REFLECTION OR CREATE A VIDEO OF THE PERSON AND CAREER FIELD YOU INTERVIEWED:
Who did you interview? What is their job title?
What does a day in the life look like? Was it similar to your expectations?
What steps would you need to take to get there from where you are now?
What types of work-experience or internships would be valuable as you are working toward your final goal?
What is the salary range of the job you chose?
What are some aspects of the job that are most appealing to you? What aspects of the job do you think you would find most challenging or unappealing?
What surprised you?
How did you feel going in to the interview? How do you feel about it now?
Did you find this assignment to be valuable? Why or why not?
Submission
Upload your Informational Interview document to Canvas. (You have the option to upload something different than a paper. For example, you can do a PowerPoint Presentation OR Video OR audio podcast, if you prefer. If you choose to do a video/audio, this must be a video/audio of the interview. Feel free to post a Youtube link in the comment section if you decide to create a video. Get creative in your Informational Interview.

How much scope for individual freedom seems to exist in this society? What would he think of Kerr’s idea of consensus?

In the wake of World War II, the Industrial society was triumphant and agrarianism was defeated. During the 1950s, Americans engaged in a broad discussion of the costs and benefits of the industrial society. Read the following FOUR sources:
Clark Kerr on the Industrial Man (1960)
C. Wright Mills on Cheerful Robots (1959)
MLK, Jr., Nobel Prize Lecture (1964)

Then address each of the following FOUR prompts with a 150-200-word paragraph. Your answer should have two parts: (1) your ‘short’ answer (that is, one or two sentences in which you directly address the prompt), and (2) specific evidence to support that short answer (references to specific passages, quotes, etc., that help you make your case). Question 1. 10 pts

In his excerpt from Industrialism and Industrial Man, Clark Kerr, the President of the University of California-Berkeley, lays out his vision for the “industrial society.” How much scope for individual freedom seems to exist in this society?Question 2. 10 pts

In his excerpt from The Sociological Imagination, what does C. Wright Mills mean by ‘cheerful robots’? What would he think of Kerr’s idea of consensus? Question 3. 10 pts
In his 1964 speech upon winning the Nobel Peace Prize, Martin Luther King presented a critique of the affluent society of the 1950s and 60s. What do you think King would say to Clark Kerr after reading the same excerpt from Industrialism and Industrial Man that you just did?

Choose one of the following questions.

Choose one of the following questions.
Essay Question 1:
Using data for 30 low-income group
countries and 30 middle (lower middle income or upper middle
income)/high-income group countries investigate whether stock market
development leads to an increase in economic growth.
1. Your sample should cover the period
1975-2017 and should exclude the following industrialised countries: Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland,
Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway,
Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, US.
2.Your analysis should be conducted using a
selection of statistical methods, which may include descriptive tools (e.g.,
scatterplots, time series plots) and regression analysis.
3. Carefully interpret each bit of
empirical evidence you present. By which we mean you need to link your
findingsto the essay question. Your results need to be used to produce evidence
in support or against, or in some instances both (e.g., support for some
countries and against fro others), the arguments you present.
Notes: Essay question 1

1. Scatter or time series plots: although
Stata is strongly recommended, you are allowed to use othersoftware packagesif
you wish to do so. The only requirement isthat in your figuresthe country
identifier should be visible. Some basic guidance documents on how to perform
descriptive statistical analysis using Stata are available on the Blackboard
page.
2. Data availability: Please note that in
some instances, you may not have information for all the countries from
1975-2017. This is perfectly understandable. Please don’t fret about this. The
idea behind the providing sample period is to use data/variables as much as
possible based on their availability. From the perspective of developing your
research skills, you should use all the available information effectively. So,
the sample period and the number of countries to be covered which is given in
the question is to provide you with a direction, but not steadfast (on the
condition that the data is unavailable).

3.
Use the literature, and your learning from Quantitative Methods courses, to
identify the appropriate Methodology. If you try to replicate the methodology
used by other Authors, this should be acknowledged by appropriately citing
them. Use standard academic sources to search for publications and also use
your reading list to identify relevant literature.
Essay Question 2:
Financial development has an impact on how
income is distributed in the economy. While many would agree with this idea, it
is still controversial whether its effect relieves or exacerbates inequality
and whether it is significant.
Using one or more proxies for financial
sector development (obtained from the World Bank’s Global Financial Development
Database) and data on income inequality (e.g., from the World Income Inequality
Database, the University of Texas Inequality Project, World Wealth and Income
Database), discuss whether the above idea is empirically valid.
For your analysis, you should:
1. Choose a sample of at least 45
countries, composed of 10 OECD countries and the remainder of
developing/transition economies.
2. The analysis should be conducted using a
range of statistical methods, which may include a selection of descriptive
statistics (scatterplots, time series plots or other) and regression analysis.
Justify why you select them: what a given statistical procedures allows to
investigate and why it is useful in the context of this question.
4. Carefully interpret each bit of
empirical evidence you present. By which we mean you need to link your
findingsto the essay question. Your results need to be used to produce evidence
in support or against, or in some instances both (e.g., support for some
countries and against fro others), the arguments you present.
Notes: Essay question 2

1. We are not providing any sample period
here asthe student can decide about it. It is perfectly understandable if you
cannot cover all the 45 countries mentioned in the question because of the data
unavailability. Please don’t fret about it. The idea is to use as much
information on countries as possible based on the availability. The sample of
45 countries to be used is to give you a direction, and not steadfast solution
(on the condition that the data is unavailable).
2. Use the literature, and your learning
from Quantitative Methods courses, to identify the appropriate Methodology. If
you try to replicate the methodology used by other Authors, this should be
acknowledged by appropriately citing them. Use standard academic sources to
search for publications and also use your reading list to identify relevant
literature.
3.
Scatter plots: If you plan to use scatter plot, please read the relevant
section (scatter plot) under notes for Essay question 1.
Essay question 3
Dimensions of financial development (e.g.,
financial depth or access to finance) show large variations across countries.
Why? Empirically investigate the factors explaining why one economy may have
higher levels of financial development than others.
For your analysis, you should:
1. Use variables for financial sector
development (obtained from the World Bank’s Global Financial Development
Database or World Development Indicators).
2. The analysis should be conducted using a
selection ofstatistical methods, which may include descriptive statistics
(e.g., scatterplots, time series plots or other) and regression analysis.
3.
Carefully interpret each bit of empirical evidence you present. By which we
mean you need to link your findingsto the essay question. Your results need to
be used to produce evidence in support or against, or in some instances both
(e.g., support for some countries and against fro others), the arguments you
present.
Notes: Essay question 3
1. We are not providing any sample period
or the list of countries to study. Explain why you choose a certain country or
sample of countries.
2. Use the literature, and your learning
from Quantitative Methods courses, to identify the appropriate Methodology. If
you try to replicate the methodology used by other Authors, this should be
acknowledged by appropriately citing them. Use standard academic sources to
search for publications and also use your reading list to identify relevant
literature.
3. Scatter plots: If you plan to use a
scatter plot, please read the relevant heading (Scatter Plots) under notes
provided in Essay question 1.
Suggested essay structure:
Introduction A brief survey of the related
theoretical and empirical literature (hint: you should be keep this part very
focussed, otherwise you will have no space left for the empirical analysis and
interpretation of the results)
Description of the data and methodology
