Content Strategy & Analysis Plan for Feeding America

www.feedingamerica.org

The final project in this course is a 10-15 page research paper (12 pt. serif font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins) written on the topic of your choice.

For the research project submission, you must address topics, concepts, and theories discussed in this course. Most importantly, it needs to engage digital media audience and analytics via a relevant platform such as Brandwatch, Google Analytics, TCAT, or Meltwater (see login notes below) around any topic of your choosing to demonstrate that you have gained a sense of real world analytics use and application, even if it is just investigating certain keywords and/or brands.

This final research project can be a content strategy and analysis plan for an organization, business, or media provider of your choice, a traditional academic research proposal, or an extended literature review relevant to course material and your area of interest. Some possible projects include, but are not limited to:

A content strategy and analysis plan for an organization, business, or media provider of your choice, incorporating concepts covered in class.
A traditional academic research proposal, including an introduction, literature review, and proposed method.
An extended white paper relevant to course material and your area of interest.
An overview of course concepts as it might relate to future academic or professional work.
A sample pitch deck to a prospective client in your field of interest.
Please consult with your professor regarding other possible types of projects if you have any questions or concerns. In addition, at any point during the term, you will have the opportunity to join your professor and/or classmates to discuss project ideas on a zoom call. It is possible to collaborate with one other student in the class on this final research project, but that is at your discretion and not required.

Your project should include in-text citations and a references page as appropriate, preferably in APA style, though other styles are acceptable as long as they are consistent (i.e. Chicago, MLA, etc.).

Week 8: Course Project—Infogram on Environmental Justice

Assignment Topic

This week will culminate in the creation of an infogram to create awareness about environmental issues surrounding the local community. It will be built on your learning from the previous weeks (Weeks 2, 4, and 6).

Assignment Directions

An infogram is a highly visual representation of information, data, or content that is intended to quickly communicate information to an audience. As a quick visual representation, Gillicano and colleagues (2014) suggest that an infogram is easily comprehended and read in less than a minute.

Effective infograms tell a story. Smaller than, but similar to, a poster, an infogram often communicates a central argument, topic, or thesis focusing on the overall patterns, themes, or salient points. There is an introduction, main argument, and conclusion (Canva, 2017). Each element (text, graphics, data representations, etc.) meaningfully contributes to communicating an accurate and concise presentation of information. Much like an essay, an infographic is often the end product of a research project or inquiry process.

Your infogram must include information from your previous weeks (Weeks 2, 4, and 6), effectively identifying the problem of environmental injustice, probing answers to research questions toward creating awareness on the issue on topic under consideration, addressing measures to mitigate environmental injustice, and recommendations that seek to establish environmental justice.

Assignment Deliverables

This week, you will submit an infographic on the topic of environmental injustice in your local community. The following evaluative components will be used to assess your infogram (Matrix & Hodson, 2014; Schrock, 2012; Texas Education Agency, 2015).

Content: Accurate and detailed information is provided and supports the thesis, argument, and purpose.
Focus: All content (visual and textual) concisely complements the purpose of the infographic.
Visual Appeal: Fonts, colors, layouts, and visual elements meaningfully contribute to the infographic’s ability to convey the overall message.
Argument: The infographic effectively informs and convinces the reader of its intended purpose.
Organization: The information is systematically organized and supports the reader’s comprehension of the main message.
Citation: Full bibliographic citations are included for all sources referenced.
Mechanics: The infographic is free of spelling or grammatical errors.

Nigeria’s oil crisis: Rich in oil but not globally

You are required to write an analytical research paper focusing on the history, economics, and/or politics of an issue in any country or region in Africa. It should include a discussion on the how the oil crisis affects the Nigerian economy, culture, and overall global presence. Also how corruption effects how the country has struggled to profit from its natural resource of oil.
This paper shopuld include 3,200-3,500 words long, not including the abstract or tables of data. All sources must be cited in the text and documented in the bibliography. When you use information from the Internet, be sure you provide complete and exact websites, including the pape number where it applies. Use the American Psychological Association (APA) style for citations and quotations: http://www.bibme.org/citation-guide/apa.

The paper must include
1. Title Page with Student’s name
2. Page numbers
3. An abstract 100-125 words and should summarize, the paper’s essential points on the page after the title page
4. Must be 3200-3500 words (not including diagrams, tables, title page, and abstract page) one inch margin and Times New Roman 12 font
5. be proof-read and edited
6. have a good, logical flow of the discussion that is developed around the theme of your paper. In the introduction breifly describe how the paper will be organized
7. be analytical (simply summarizing what you read and presenting facts themselves ARE NOT enough) Data should be presented in relative terms and included to support statements. For example, to provide information about the size of foreign debt, instead of simply giving absolute amount, present it relative to export revenue or GDP. Avoid being repetitous.
8. Have any quotes that are longer than two lines indented on both sides and single spaced.
9. Have a conclusion and a set of recommendations that are drawn from the discussion
10. Have all sources properly cited in the text and documented in the bibliograpghy in alphabectical order.

Citation instructions: Citation in text should be by author and year of publication. If it is a quote, the citation should also include the page number(s), if available. The author could be an organization, such as the World Bank. You may not simply provide a website link as a source. Here are a few examples.

That led to the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon warning that South Sudan was “poised on the brink of an abyss” (The New York Times, 2016)

The oil and gas discoveries in East Africa can also exacerbate the impact of asymmetric shocks (Masson, 2012)

relating classical political history with today’s political society

We have discussed some of the major classical political philosophies, such as the
Athenian Model of the Polis, Plato’s “Just City,” and Aristotle’s more practical polity. They all
have differing political orientations towards issues such as leadership selection, education,
citizenship, the role of the individual, etc.

Choose one and write about how might they apply or not apply to today’s political society. In
other words, which characteristics of these ancient societies can you find in the United States
today, and which are lacking? And according to you, which aspects of those societies should be
included in today’s political society, and why? Conversely, which aspects of those societies
should not be included in modern society, and why?

NOTE FROM CLIENT: I choose to do Aristotle’s more practical polity. also there is a mandatory source which is:

Klosko, George. 2012. History of Political Thought: An Introduction, Volume 1: Ancient and Medieval,
2nd Edition. Oxford: Oxford University Press.

Project propsal

Module 1: Database Project Phase 1: Project proposal

Hide Assignment Information
Find a topic, for personal use or at work, that is suitable for a database. Ample examples are provided in the course textbooks. For best results, pick a topic that is meaningful to your team. The proposal should be a minimum of 300 words and contain the following main sections:

Project Title: Assign a descriptive title to your database project.
Project Scope: Describe the boundaries of the project. For example, if the project is for a daycare center, the scope of the project may be: keeping records of all necessary details of children including name, parent’s phone number, age, special needs, etc.; information about the teacher, including name, degree, specialty, etc.; details of activities, toys in the daycare, food available in the canteen, etc.
Project Description: Here you will describe the nature of the business and the type of business activities that take place. Going back to the daycare example, a description would include the number of children and teachers/care providers, the number of the days per week it operates, activities for each day, expenses, income, etc.
Outline type of inquiries, reports, views that users of this system are interested in having in order to get the information they need. For the daycare example, a user may be interested in a list of all the children and information about each child, a list of activities, a list of care providers, income and expenses. Here you want to indicate the type of data retrieval or updates to the database that you will be performing on your database.
Possible Issues/Challenges: This is where you can list the roadblocks that you foresee may get in the way of progress on your project. The more descriptive you are, the better your instructor can guide you and help you resolve challenges before you get too far into the project.
Save your proposal under your team’s name and submit it in a Word document to the assignment submission link in Module 1. All team members will have to submit the final copy to receive credit for their work.
