Choose two of the three following prompts for your midterm response.

Choose two of the three following prompts for your midterm response. At least one response should be a 2-3 page [275-550 words] essay. The second can be an essay or PowerPoint, visual essay, or video presentation. You must draw from videos and readings we have covered in class so far; outside material and a bibliography are not needed. Be sure to address each part of the prompt, provide specific details, and carefully proofread your writing.

Poems such as “Digging” and some of our videos on the agrarian and craft life show that work can be more than a job; it can be connected to family and community. Choose two of our readings or videos and comment on the ways in which work or the work ethic can unite more than one generation of a family.
Some texts address the pleasures and satisfaction of work. Choose two readings or videos and compare and contrast the ways in which they depict the positive aspects of work.
In the Week 6 Overview, we read a quote by economic and social theorist Jeremy Rifkin about the changing nature of time relating to work. He also said: “Without the clock, industrial life would not have been possible. The clock conditioned the human mind to perceive time as external, autonomous, continuous…Time was snatched away from its biological and environmental moorings and locked up inside the gears of an automated machine that now parceled it out in steady, nondescript beats.” (103) Reflect on the role of time in the working life. Select at least two readings or videos and explain how they relate to Rifkin’s quotes. How does this compare or contrast with our own conceptions of work and time?

The purpose of this assignment is to reflect on the passion narratives, specifically, how do the events in the final week of Jesus’ life inform Christian life today?

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to reflect on the passion narratives, specifically, how do the events in the final week of Jesus’ life inform Christian life today?
Overview: The final week of Jesus’ life includes the central events of the Christian story. Many traditions observe Holy Week, beginning with Palm Sunday, continuing through observance of the crucifixion on Good Friday, and ending with the celebration of the resurrection on Easter. For the Apostle Paul, in later books in the New Testament, all of Christian faith and life hinges on the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Instructions: For this week’s assignment you should write a 300-350 word essay in response to this prompt:
How do the final chapters in John (Chapters 17-21) inform your understanding of how followers of Jesus should live?
For example, what are the appropriate actions and beliefs that ought to characterize a follower of Jesus?
To answer this question, you might consider the good or bad example of specific characters, the final prayer of Jesus, the example of trust in God set by Jesus, the way Jesus gives to his disciples after his resurrection, and so forth. Be specific in your answer, drawing on two different passages, each from a different chapter. Be sure to cite your sources in APA format.

Week 7 Critical Thinking Assignment- Cody

Purpose: The purpose of this reflection is to gain a deeper sense of understanding and compassion for the ways that other people think. We hope that you will gain an appreciation for difference, and for the common goals that you share with those who may disagree with you. You are doing this assignment to reflect upon one of the important goals of this course: empathy and tolerance for others.
Instructions: You have noticed by now that we have asked you to argue with your classmates, and they have been prompted to argue with you. We hope there have been times where you felt challenged to consider not just whether someone else was right, but how someone else might be right. Dr. Ries calls this awareness to the possibility that we might not have everything right, “epistemic humility.”
Think about a way in which you felt challenged to think, or know, in a way that made you uncomfortable. In this reflection, we want for you to go beyond the actual feeling, and explore why you felt that way. Why do people sometimes feel angry when their views are challenged? Why do individuals sometimes react defensively, or shout, or cry, when someone asserts a view different from theirs? Why are people willing to kill over religion, or politics, or science? Think about some of your own reactions, and hypothesize about the reasons that “Epistemic Humility” is so painful.
Write your reflection in 600-800 words. You do not need to use any outside resources for this assignment. This is a spiritual reflection. Look into yourself, and try to look into the hearts and minds of others, and see if you can identify some of the reasons it can be so painful when someone tells us we’re wrong.

“The exclusion of any group – whether on the basis of gender, class, sexual orientation, religion or race- involves cultural definitions of the members of that group as less than fully human.” (Bunch 1995, 12) Critically discuss.

Build on your work with your business model canvas by discussing the patterns, the design, and the overall business strategy that it illustrates.

GOAL: Build on your work with your business model canvas by discussing the patterns, the design, and the overall business strategy that it illustrates.

Introduction: Using the week 5 Learning Material in the Content area (coupled with the other resources of the course), examine and discuss the observable patterns, designs, and strategies seen in your business model. You should also integrate metaphors (Morgan’s) and framing (Bolman & Deal) into the discussion of your organization/business. This paper will serve as an investigative tool to inform you further about your business model so that you will be prepared to comprehensively diagnose/assess your model and propose recommendations in your final project for the course. You could say that this week’s work lays the groundwork for moving into the substantive diagnosis and assessment expected in your final paper. You may also benefit from conducting an Internet search of the Business Model Canvas to become comfortable with how it works, particularly in the investigation of patterns, design, and strategy. There are also various YouTube-type videos on the web that demonstrate the use of the canvas for this phase of your work with your canvas.

Instructions: Write a 600-750 word paper that presents your conclusions about the pattern(s), design(s), and overall business strategy depicted by your canvas. Metaphoric and framing applications should also be discussed. The paper should be written in third person and is not reflective (first person not acceptable). A title page and references page with a minimum of three sources is required (no abstract needed).

IMPORTANT NOTE: One of the common errors that students make in the writing of this paper is to limit the discussion of the “frames” (Bolman & Deal) and “metaphors (Morgan). Do not merely mention these items, but discuss the implications of them. What “frame” best depicts your organization and why? What does it tell you about the effectiveness of the context/perspective of the interactivity within of your model? Make the same sort of consideration in relation to the most appropriate metaphor that describes the functionality of your organization/business. Look for the “so what” in your consideration of pattern, design, and strategy. This is where the consideration and reflection based on your model—with added insight via the frames and metaphors—provides you a substantive understanding of the implications of the pattern, design, and strategy. Consideration of change, or confirmation of direction—will be revealed in this process.

Upload your paper (.doc) in the assignment section for grading. Follow the Submissions Guidelines as listed in the Syllabus: The various assignments for this course should be submitted as Word.doc attachments in the Assignment section. Do not use macros or automatic referencing in your papers for this course. The auto features usually cause unforeseen problems in format. Plus, part of the evaluation of this paper involves your proficiency in the essentials of the APA style format. Each file OF YOUR WORK should be named in the following manner: Last name–truncated Week Number-Assignment name (abbreviated if necessary)
