Children who are affected by obesity are at risk of experiencing similar severe health complications as adults with obesity, such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Nevertheless, they are also more prone to encountering mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and eating disorders, which also leads to an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and substance abuse. Obesity is a condition that is influenced by several genetic, psychological, lifestyle, dietary, environmental, and hormonal factors. However, a prevalent contributing component is the combination of excessive food consumption and insufficient energy expenditure. The main objective of this health promotion plan is to identify the risk factors and potential causes of childhood obesity, which represents a key approach to mitigating the severity of this epidemic.
